The fact that chuck was the antagonist of the first few seasons is crazy. by season 6 everyone saying “chuck was right” 😂
Both shows pulled something special off in their own way: Better call sauls dialogue made court interesting, breaking bads cinematography made chemistry look exciting.
If they could perfect de-aging technology I am all about a Salamanca spin off. Lalo, Hector, the cousins, Tuco and the Cartel. Would be amazing
Winner is great too the season 4 finale love it feel like people forget how great it was. It has my favourite chuck flashback.
The only follow up I would like to see is one for the American Greed mockumentary now that Jimmy’s in prison.
Great video- thanks!!! Always love to hear you both and look forward to future discussions!
BB is my fave of the 2 shows.. but BCS is very close. Also I love how Saul is still wearing that BLUE RIBBON from the plane crash and how Walt never wore it once.
I would love to see a Salamanca spin-off set in the past. Then you can have an all new cast.
Next spinoff, a dark dramedy: Spooge's chick serves her time, gets out, and eventually becomes roommates with Wendy, in an apartment rented from Francesca. What could possibly go wrong in that scenerio? 😆
Would you guys want a cut of BCS where they refilm all the old actor Jeff scenes but replace them with new Jeff? To make the series more consistent on rewatch?
Okay, here we go:
(01) When did I get into TV? Early. "Batman: The Animated Series" hit in 1992 when I was ten and I grew up watching all the subsequent shows in the DC Animated Universe, so that by the time "Justice League: Unlimited" rolled around 14 years or so later, I was completely knocked on my ass. And the best part is a lot of it really does hold up for me as an adult. Other shows I got into was an animated series called "Gargoyles" (which also holds up really well) and a cop show from the 90s called "Homicide: Life on the Street", an adaptation of David Simon's nonfiction book "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets", and it was my experience with Homicide that got me to check out "The Wire".
(02) Is there any love between Chuck and Jimmy? I have a relative (that for the record is cool now) who had a really abrasive personality that alienated pretty much everyone around them. My older cousin dropped a Jem that I thought really applies to chuck in Jimmy, which was "We love them, just not when they're in the room".
(03) "Breaking Bad" or "Better Call Saul"? My feeling is that "Better Call Saul" really is just a second draft of "Breaking Bad", which means you have an experienced writing team who is better equipped to communicating ideas to the audience. You mention liking Walter White and hatting Jimmy, but the thing is, I don't think it was ever "Breaking Bad"'s intention to have us rooting for Heisenberg, and while I liked "Felina" what of the misgivings that I had about it was that it stuck this cathartic happy ending on a story that really didn't warrant it. I also disagree with the idea that the callbacks don't work unless you've seen Breaking Bad. I think one of the things that I really appreciated about "Saul" (and one of the reason's why it's the best prequel I've ever seen) is that any time the show made a reference to "Breaking Bad", they were very good about providing a "Better Call Saul" exclusive context for why that thing was there. But the end it doesn't matter, because "Better Call Saul", "Breaking Bad" and "El Camino" just play like one big narrative that can be viewed in chronological order if you slide "Breaking Bad" (The Series) and "El Camino" in between "Fun and Games" and "Nippy" while watching it.
Nah Lalo is a better villain better shot ect bro just wanted to film a vlog
They could even do a spinoff of just a random person(s) addiction to the blue meth. We didn’t get a ton of how Walter’s drugs affected people. But I mean if we got to see that, we’d see an addict living in a world populated by some familiar faces like Better Call Saul billboards, maybe they had a relative die in the 737 plane crash, etc. I’d watch that. They could get into some crime but nothing that would mess with canon too much or at all.
