It might be helpful to note that full service petrol stations have opening and closing times that are tighter than self-service ones. It seems something like 8:00-19:00 is quite normal. Some self-service petrol stations are open 24H, but not nearly all of them.
Nice! Short and Sharp, easy to understand as first timer
This video was so perfect! Filled up my trusty Toyota for the first time today without a hitch. Especially the change machine, that bit might have been confusing without your input. ありがとうございます
Your clip is very helpful. Thank you.
Very useful thank you very much.
Very good explanation. Thank you.
this is great, thanks!
Thanks for the video
Excellent Video. I am planning to rent a car in Japan. This video was really helpful.
Thank you so much sir
Useful explanation! Thanks for the video! I was a little worried about being able to understand a self-service pump. I'll try it late night for my first trip 😁
Ha ha, :D
very helpful - i'll be driving across hokkaido next summer
Thank you
This was super helpful. I’m gonna be renting a car from Tokyo to drive to Kochi City.
Hi, thanks for the video. is there any chance you know the octane rating or RON number of there fuels there ?
I have to drive this year in Japan, Okinawa. This video is very useful!!
Good choice! The bus system is quite crap for medium-long distances :)
I’m driving in Okinawa this month & successfully filled the gas 🙂
merci beaucoup :)
Is there any rules or process when you stop your vehicle in a GAS station to fill up GAS ?
good bro
The colours are a bit confus, in the UK, petrol is green and diesel is black but green in Japan is diesel
Can you get self service LPG/autogas
I was wondering for turist is better to rent a car o use jr pass ?
You remind me of the "V is for Vendetta" masked character. 😊
Gas in the US is high right now. $4.09 per gallon (or about ¥119 per liter).
Where in the hell do you live? In TN gas is only 2.38 at my local station.
We're hitting €1,60 in the Netherlands at the cheapest petrol stations. That's about ¥191 per litre!
The Eikaiwa accent
Not even in the US, I have yet to see a touch screen pump. We are sooo behind.
2:22 did pay cash cost more money than credit card?
Yes but as you can see only 3 Yen per liter which means you have to pump around 40 Liters to save the equivalent of 1 Dollar
Mmm. So in Japan paying with cash is more expensive than using a credit card? In the U.S. it's usually the opposite.
The credit card discounts are for specific cards, think of a store brand card discount
Just curious, how would the employees at the station know if your car need petrol or diesel?
I don't think they know as in knowing from the top of their head, although some cars are quite popular. I think they just know where to look, or have some way to look it up. As a foreigner you might not know where to find this information, as it is probably written in Japanese somewhere (like in the car manual or something).
But as he said, most cars are regular anyway, and at the rental desk they will confirm this with you. Only special cars need diesel or high octane, and if that's the case, they will confirm that very specifically and I'm sure they won't rent you the car until they are sure you understand this :)
The filler cap will say what fuel the car needs
you give the employees a tip ?
Nope no need to tip in Japan
Tipping is considered rude in Japan. Don't do it. Anywhere.
If you want to give them more money, just buy more things :)
¥123 Yen per liter translates to US$4.39/gallon. That is darn expensive gas in Japan!
In Denmark it is around $1.79/L ($6.77/gallon)
Just revisiting this in 2023, $4.39 and $6.77 sound cheap😂😢
Did you tip them at the end? Or was it the payment for the gas?
There is no tipping culture in Japan.😀
I'd prefer to use gas station with service.
You talk so cool.. English with a Japanese twang
Does the staff speak English?
The staff of the Gas Station usually don't speak english
Does Not work....
And you claim to be a doctor 😂
Filling up a car in Asia still creeps me out as white European.
