    5 times Honda owner, 2 times Hyundai owner. I would never thought of owning a Hyundai, but guess what it did happen. Why because they are competitive, so thumbs up Hyundai for winning a customer like me who has been driving Honda/Toyota in the past.

    I have owned both Honda's and Hyundai's over the years, and lately have preferred Hyundai, specifically the Sonata. I have owned, a 2011, a 2013 and now a 2015 Sonata Sport, and I have to vehemently disagree on all counts with the reviewers here, they are obviously Honda lovers. They blather on and on about rear seat legroom, I don't know about anyone else but I don't sit in the rear seat of my cars, ever, I drive the car, front seat legroom is what is important to me. The Sonata has it in spades, 45", amazing, the Honda Accord doesn't come close, and never has! In fact the last Honda that had any appreciable amount of legroom was the 1987 CRX si I owned, that is long long time ago. My Sonata is vastly improved over the last generation in all areas, the ride is supple, smooth, refined, the handling inspiring, flat around corners with no body roll and very quiet, no more tire noise. They would have you believe it is down on power, I beg to differ, I drive it every day, it is quick when you want it to be, and my average mileage is 31 mpg, city/highway. I am a fast driver! All the Hyundai's I have owned, have been extremely dependable, I know there are loads of Korean car hater's out there, I used to be one, but not any more. The latest generation Sonata is refined transportation! Honda really should address the front seat legroom issue!

    Test drove both. I like the Sonata better because it's smoother and quieter, it also feels like it has more interior room than the Accord.

    I'm currently driving a 2015 Sonata. I'm enjoying it. It's very quiet inside, acceleration is such and smooth and it feels very luxurious inside. My only complaint is the seats. They are too hard and uncomfortable. Despite all my adjustments, I barely found a manageable seating position. Other than that, it's a solid car and it goes zoom zoom.

      chancy319 I hope the 2016 seats are more comfortable since I do a lot of long distance drives. I really like the Sonata Limitless Sedan and will consider that along with the Accord and Mazda 6. Anyhow, thanks for your comments. And if I get a Sonata, I will get the better Infinity stereo with 400 watts.

    Hmm, someone replied after 100,000 miles the Sonata would be junk. Since my niece's Sonata has 301,000 and everything work's perfectly. And my other nieces Tucson has 195,000 miles on it. Let's all make the definite statement that the commenter obviously doesn't own a Sonata or other Hyundai for that matter. In other words, doesn't know what he is talking about. I like facts, not opinion.

      I had a 2009 Sonata and sold it at 325k milage and was running fine. It's so reliable car. I sold that and got 2008 Accord now, i changed so many things on it but still asking for more. The Honda i have is advertised for 22mpg city, but there is nooo way it does that. Im getting around 13mpg no matter what. Changed Spark plugs, Air filter, cleaned fuel injectors, and nothing helped. And btw it has 226k km on it now.

    I'm not particularly a hyundai fan, in fact I've driven mostly hondas all my life. But I really don't understand some of the hate hyundai is getting on here. Maybe you've owned a hyundai, a lot of you probably haven't. But a lot of you seem very close minded in the fact that Hyundai is a growing company, unlike Honda who has had time to make their mistakes and recover from them. Hyundai is doing well for where they are, and they can only get better. We can't make judgement calls on hyundai and the new models it brings us based on old opinions and old models. The new models are meant to be improvements of those. I think some of you need to open your mind to hyundai. Again, this is coming from neither a hyundai/honda fan or hater. But I came to this video to find some good reviews and was disappointed to find a lot of narrow minded opinions. (Not all of them, some were good too!). If anyone would like to share their honest, unbiased and mature opinion on Hyundai, please message!

      I've never owned a Hyundai, but did own a new 2012 Kia sportage for one year, then traded in for and 2013 Honda accord sport with 6 speed manual. To me, the Kia selling point was it's design which I thought was a beautiful suv. However, it had some minor issues from the start, including not ever driving straight (which I took to the dealer for alignment 3x with no resolve), leisure acceleration, and tipsy handling when you would brake hard. My Honda accord, on the other hand, handles much better, is more comfortable and refined, is much faster, gets better mileage, and its a more dynamic vehicle to drive (btw, I realize they are different vehicles to compare, one being a compact suv and the other a midsize car). Kia/Hyundai makes good cars, and they are getting better. I like some of their new designs as well. I just feel that Honda still has the edge when it comes to quality, refinement, performance, and driving experience.

    I have to pick the Sonata because CVT'S are based on an belt which could need repairing. I also like the Sonata because the Sport model uses a regular 6 speed automatic. Also it comes with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty so anything major goes wrong I'm actually saving a lot of money in the long run.

    Not exactly apples to apples comparison nor a Honda Accord trim we can get in the US.
    After a recent test drive experience, I now see The new 2015 Hyundai Sonata is a giant leap forward in all areas and should be indeed congratulated for it effort on progression. Here in So Cal the new Sonata is a breath of fresh air against the everyday Accord. As far as comfort there have been many complaints by owners of uncomfortable front seats on the 2013 and newer model Accords and now if you closely examine the quality of the leather of the entire interior..Hyundai now Wins.
    IMHO believe the seats and ride are more comfortable/quiet in the Hyundai, and I like and currently own Hondas. Between the lines the Hyundai is indeed moving up against the competition. I believe if you drive a new 2015 Accord EX-L model vs 2015 Sonata LTD...most people will really like the Hyundai over the Honda...now if other can just get them past having the same ole thing..

    As someone who worked at a dealership and drove both of these cars regularly, I can confidently say the Hyundai is much better. As someone who's 6'6" the Hyundai is MUCH more comfortable, much more seat travel back and much more knee room. An Audi A3 is more comfortable than the accord, the seat doesn't travel far back enough and the knee room is subpar - the people in this review must not have been tall enough. I have much more than enough head room and can see out of the car just fine.
    The Accord is much sportier, but at the same time why are you buying in this class if you care os much about sport? and I disagree on the transmissions, the 6sp auto revs pretty high (nearly 7000 rpm) and the transmission takes full advantage of that. Plus, one thing not mentioned is that the sport eco and normal modes on the hyundai have a surprising effect on steering weight, something missing from most other manufacturers. I also found the Hyundai to be more comfortable and the infotainment was far, far, far superior in the Hyundai.
    After considering everything, I ended up buying a Sonata after driving everything in its class. Maybe if my priorities were different I would choose another car (I needed a long warranty and lots of space), but the infotainment, space, efficiency (38-40mpg w cruise set at 75), great material quality and stellar warranty sealed the deal for me.

    From the beginning of this video, I knew that the reviewer was EXTREMELY partial towards the Honda. The Honda has misaligned exterior gaps, but nothing was said about that. Don't believe me? Look closely at 7:17 of this video. The left tail light, (not affixed to trunk) starts out very tight in the gab and just goes all out with a ungainly gap going towards the trunk. Lastly, how could anyone prefer a CVT over a conventional transmission? I have driven this CVT, and it makes the engine sound loud and course under acceleration. I mean really!!

    Had a honda civic in college for about 7 years. Reliable cars yes, flashy or distinctive--no. Just bought a 2015 hyundai sonata Limited yesterday. Also tried the sport but it didnt have a sun roof (Dealbreaker for me). Honda feels extremely cheap these days, drove a brand new 2016 accord coupe and basically ran away from the dealer shocked at the plastic cheap feel of the interior and wheel. The Sonata redesign is lovely, and if you get the higher trim you get leather interior and panoramic roof, all gorgeous, with impressive bells and whistles. Got a 2015 limited for $18.5k with only 10k miles on it in excellent condition. Some old guy had traded it in barely used for an AWD car for his wife instead. Very happy. Also, after you've grown up with Honda you get sick of the ' H ' badge. At least upgrade to Acura, I've driven a TL and it's sweet and quite stylish and luxurious, with tons of power. The sonata isn't as strong but gets better mileage and you don't have to keep slamming on the brakes in stop-and-go traffic because it won't pick up as fast for no reason. I'm pleased at the moment! Boyfriend still has the 2013 acura TL....best of both worlds.

    It seems like people who do not know cars bash hyundais for their old reputation of being a cheap car maker... but these people do not seem to know what had been going on with hyundai over the last decade... they have invested billions of dollars in R and D as well as bring in chief designer of audi to head kia... thus vast improvements to their overall lineup in recent years...
    Honda on the other hand seems like they are going backward... civic looks like the style of 90s still and accord lost its styling from sporty to bloated... and it took them forever to gey rid of their five speed automatics when hyundai was coming out with eight speed autos... acuras went backward as well ever since they got rid of legend name plate... I would definitely buy genesis sedan over TLX or any other acura...
    Hyundai is now number four automaker in the world while honda sits at eight...

    • @xingnanzav
      @xingnanzav 9 років тому

      You can't compare cars on the paper. You need to drive them.
      A eight speed transmission is not necessarily an advantage unless it is made right. I have a saab with 5 speed transmission. But that 5 speed is the best among all i drove. Hyundai and Kia's driving dynamics is still mediocre. The suspension is neither sporty nor comfortable. Steering requires more effort and does not give me confidence on the corners.

    • @howie0616
      @howie0616 9 років тому

      Nan Xing head of bmw m division is now with hyundai to work on dynamics... First it was peter schryer from Audi to work on design and now comes the dynamic part... It took Honda 2-3 years to offer Apple CarPlay & Android Auto whereas the 2015 Sonata offered both of those, as well the heated steering wheel, & heated & cooled front seats with heated rear seats, with the cooled front seats only becoming available in the current generation Accord Touring trim. So Hyundai was ahead of Honda with these features which took Honda a few years to finally implement in the Accord

Plus the Sonata is just damn boring to look at, all its competition is becoming more stylish, jeez even the Camry kicked it up a notch or two in the style department, I always said this and will continue to say it the only Hyundai products I'll buy is the Equus, Azera and Genesis... the rest of them I don't care for.

    The shapes in the Hyundai interior are really off putting. The air vents look like ass, and why is everything so squared and blocky, including the steering wheel? I don't think it will age as well as the Honda will. Only issue with Hyundai is they've been making crapboxes up until this point, so their real world long term reliability is still unproven. And they're trying way hard and it is paying off, but despite cramming in more features as a selling point and going for daring designs, they still just haven't honed in car making as well as Honda or Toyota, both of which make completely WELL ROUNDED cars. Case in point, the last gen Genesis and it's crummy ride and handling paled in comparison to the luxury competition, or their constant failing to reach EPA mileage numbers. Give them some years and they might get there, but I don't think they're quite there yet. They just haven't found that "soul" yet.

    Look they a both good cars. Honda has always been (had a '90 Accord past 307,000 miles on it with no mechanical issues). But Hyundai has come up to that level now finally, so I took a chance and traded my new 2016 Civic after just two months of ownership for a new 2016 Sonata. Civic's handling was great, but I wanted a cruiser and the new 2016 Honda Accord was still too firm and way too noisy for me.

    I just when to the dealer today and test the accord and the sonata sport II the sonata is way better car . The accord has lost the crown .my advice to anyone looking to buy a sedan will be go and test drive the sonata. We have 3 Hondas in the family and after today our first Hyundai. And don't even look at the camry this two are in a different categories.

    Hyundai has a serious image perception problem. People have long memories about the Excel, which was a very poorly built car. It's awful hard to change another persons perspective about bad vehicles. Granted, Hyundai has worked diligently to address all their problems over the years and have done quite an impressive job of improvement to their entire line of cars. Perfect? No, but they can hold their own against other cars of like stature. Toyota and Nissan both had sorry cars in the beginning too, and look how far they came.

  • @MouseyBusiness

    I currently own a '13 Accord and I love it, but I am pretty sure my next car will be a Hyundai. I think reliability is starting to converge. Gone are the days where some cars are more reliable than others. Not only that, but Hyundais are far more affordable, and they offer a 100,000 mile warranty. So what if the transmission goes bad. The shit is covered for 100,000 miles. Honda and Toyota are not trying anymore. They're just skating on their reputation from the 90s.

    I think, it is time for Honda to refresh their cars every three years just like what Toyota just did with its new Camry. The Family sedan segment is getting competitive and newbies are catching up fast. And techwise, Honda is still superior than Hyundai.But the slanted H is catching up really fast. And I still think Hyundai needs to work on its steering more ,although new models are miles better than the all models from the last gen.

      +Rolling Thunder Not all recalls are bad. With mitsubishi they do a lot of stupid recalls that help prevent future issues with electricity bugs and such. They are one of the most reliable auto makers out there. So you'd really need to go off MAJOR recalls. Like accelerator pedals and ignition switches killing people..

It was fun, handled well, but I just didn't like that weird habit of taking my foot off the gas, yet the CVT would keep pulling the car forward instead of it decelerating quickly. Felt like I was always winding it up and then trying to spool it down.

      definitely true. my mom has an 07 Camry v6 and I have an 06 Sonata v6. around 06 hyundai's started getting a lot more reliable. my car I like that you can actually hear the engine it has an actual tone the Camry engine is really quiet. the camry has a lot quicker of a transmission and the Sonata it just feels a bit slow. if you're going on a long journey the Camry has a lot less noise on the highway then the Sonata. I do like though that the Sonata you have a little bit more feel in the steering wheel. the Camry also has a lot more power than the Sonata. it's a lot cheaper to maintain the Camry and with the Sonata parts are really expensive and are close to BWW prices. I do think the Styling on the Camry is a bit Bland but it does look a little bit more modern and the Sonata I feel looks a little bit more aggressive

    For the money, you get a lot in the Sonata especially goin for the 2.0T model. I would have to disagree with Autoguide this time...I have found the Accord to have the cheaper looking and feeling interior especially apparent when you spend extra $ on the Nav system which gets you a cheap screen for audio surrounded by grainy cheap charcoal trim. The Sonata has a better feel to its buttons..everything is damped and has good tactile feel. I must agree that unless you get a sport version, the seats in the Sonata are absolutely terrible which is a huge let down. Ive test driven 3 Sonatas and noticed the steering wheel 'shivering' at above highway speeds - something I didnt notice testing the Camry and Accord. Not very promising.

    In the end you have to enjoy your vehicle. The Honda Accord allows you to engage the road with a smile. It may not be up to standard as a BMW type driving experience but the Sonata is vanilla and you'll get tired of it before you know it. The Accord is graceful and sporty and fun.

    Accord still has the rough, noisy ride of past Accords. So it's still feels like a old, primitive driving experience. Who wants to pay $25+K for that? The Sonata rides like a true near luxury car with superior levels of bump absorption and road noise suppression.

    • @TheSnoopy1750

    • @4af
      @4af 9 років тому +1

      ***** I rented a 2013 Accord. The road noise is just as loud as the 2013 Camry & Sonata. The 2015 Sonata raises the bar on ride smoothest and road and wind noise suppression to the level of the Lexus ES350. So the 2015 Sonata, is like getting a $40,000 driving experience for $21,000.
