Hi, I couldnt ctrl + break on a new lenovo laptop using putty. Doesnt have break key. Router is ISR 1100. Putty has a break special command also. It doesnt work either. Second After changing password is wr command copy it to startup confing? Do I need to copy running config to start config ?
Give this a look: www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/1100/software/configuration/xe-16-7/cisco_1100_series_swcfg_xe_16_7_x/cisco_1100_series_swcfg_xe_16_7_x_chapter_010011.html#con_1051288
Good explanation, in my case I am able to enter rommon mode and even able to go into global configuration mode, the problem is once I come out of global config it will not go into config mode again. Had to repeat the steps over and over again Router#config ter Router#config terminal ? lock Lock the configuration mode revert Parameters for reverting the configuration
Router#config terminal This command is not supported Router# Router#conf t This command is not supported
Forget that password? No Problem!!
While performing those steps, it may also be worth resetting the enable password. Great video, thank you!
For sure! Thanks!
Just what I needed, should help a lot in nailing down the timing for the Break.
thanks for providing complete instructions, worked like a charm.
Thanks!
Great video, helped with an ISR4331 sent to me. BTW. Alt+B is another way of getting the break command on Windows machines.
Thanks for the tip!
Absolute 5 star post. Thanks a ton for your concise insight.
Thanks!
Does this process wipe the licenses on the unit?
It does not. It actually only resets the password. Config is also preserved.

Hello
How to proceed for recovering a cisco ISR4451 without the password recovery service ?
I can't get access to User mode. How can perform the reset if I can't get to the terminal
You will need to physically connect to the console port to do this...
you save my life, thanks!

What if the break sequence will not work? Seriously, will not work.
Verify the sequence for your terminal emulator. Sometimes they differ.
Thanks man!
