500 and 1,000 Yards Tikka T3x 243 Sierra Gameking!

- Out with my Tikka T3x Stainless .243 Win for the last time! For this trip I brought some reloaded 243 topped off with the Sierra 100 grain Gameking on top of Hodgdon H4831SC in Federal once fired Neck sized brass. The results were awesome at 500 Yards! I shot these in early February 2018 and it was cold and windy. It didn’t stop me from having one last hoorah with the Tikka. Footage of me knocking steel targets at 500 yards and hitting a 14” plate at 1,000 Yards I got a 4th shot impact at 1,000 and my ballistic chart was dead on! My SWFA was tracking perfectly and got me right on target. The Boyd’s pro Varmint Stock felt great and I was very comfortable behind the rifle.

I love the videos, excellent shooting. Do you ever share your load data? I would like to reload for 100 or 105gr but dont have the $ to experiment much. Would greatly appreciate some of your knowledge on favorite loads.
Hello my friend... one cuestions...?
what barrel you use in your rifle, contorns, etc...?? thank you
Well done! Good shooting. Can't wait to see the new build. I just ordered my Boyd's pro varmint stock and a SWFA SS 10x scope for my Savage 12 in 6.5 cm
Much appreciated dude! That will be a great setup!
Nice send off can't wait to see the new build
Me too man! Thanks dude
What was you overall cartridge length with the 100 grain Sierra bullets? Do you have data on accurate loads for the 103 ELD-X bullets?
Do you recommend the muzzle break for the 243? I mentioned it to my local gunsmith and he said I was crazy putting a break on a 243
Any rifle that recoils less is better. Simple as that.
High Logan, I know you have moved away from 243win!
When I started reloading myself, I turned to UA-cam to help point me in the right direction.
And I found you, I liked the easy and precise way you explained things.
I chose a powder and bullet and ladder tested it and eventually got good results (yay).
But recently I bought a chronograph and I was horrified with the standard deviation I was getting, 75fps.
Plus, when a primer didn't go off, I pulled the bullet apart, only to find I had indented the bullet quite badly, because I had to neck crimp.
I had some of these bullets left over, so I put a gong out to 362Yds (it’s as far as I could go on my range) and fired five rounds into the gong and got a 200mm group on the plate, go figure!
Anyway, with better knowledge, I changed my reloading technique.
I now have a standard deviation of 9fps.
I fired three rounds with my new hand loads at a 30mm bullseye at 100yds, with only two holes 15mm apart centre to centre (all three where there).
What is a good "standard fps deviation" in your book.
I'm a beginner, so have no idea.
Man i guy like you with the tikka's rifles nan deadly sniper
Those tikkas shoots light out for me the best tikka ever made is the spotter i sold me to a friend of my hard to find it .
Nice setup.
I like to have my rings facing the left so they're not in the way around the bolt.
Good shooting man! Look forward to your new build and seeing how it all comes together for you!
Thanks man, I will bring everyone along for the process! Excited to learn more about building one with my gunsmith
Does your Tika have the stock 22 inch Barrel.
Awesome footage as usual. Amazing production quality as well, with the music and all. Excited to see whats next from you
I know you’ve been wanting to see some more AR shooting so I’ll post that next for you! Thanks brother I really appreciate it
No worries man but i appreciate it!
Can’t wait to see the new build it’s gonna awesome for sure
I hope so man, I’m excited too!
I’ve had excellent luck with the Federal Fusion. My little model 70 featherweight loves them.
Is that the vortex tactical 30mm rings? I think I have the same set. Very secure with those 6 Allen bolts :)
How do you like that 16 power swfa scope? I have the 10x and am about to order another swfa scope.
This is actually the 20x and I like it. However I bought this specifically for laying still with a still target at long range. The field of view is pretty small at 100-300 so if you’re thinking of hunting at all with it I’d suggest less power. Other than that I think it’s awesome, it hangs right with my Vortex for clarity
You should try that chica heavy barrel varmint 6.5 Creedmoor I get half inch groups at 200 yards which is damn good for me there's something about a t i k k a rifle nice paint job on that rifle if you did it yourself
Fantastic for 500 yards
I use the gamekings in my rpr 243 and they are extremely accurate 👍
What brand barrel, chambering and twist rate are you considering.......... Thanking you in advance.
So I have a Wilson barrel heavy profile, I will be chambering it in 7mm Win short mag. 26” 1:8 barrel and I have 180 Hornady Bullets ready to Test. Thanks dude
I'm from the salt lake valley as well. I have been shooting out in that general area for years. Awesome channel man
Much appreciated dude, do you like to shoot long range?
Oh ya that is mostly all we do out there. I have a new 24*24 inch plate I want to take out and set up at 1500 to a mile just need to find a good spot.
That’s a great cluster at 500 and nice shooting at 1000 given the conditions. Going to miss that .243 bro...but looking forward to the 7mm WSM!
Probably the best it’s ever printed on its last trip she went out with her boots on! Haha but I wouldn’t be taking it apart if I wasn’t sure it wouldn’t be better. Thanks man! It will be a good new series for my channel as well. The 243 was great fun for the year I had it
New to your channel, just subbed. Forgive my ignorance but what is your twist rate ? Nice video sir.
On the 243 it’s 1:10
Nice video love the tikkas! RIP .243!
Haha thanks dude! She will be back with a vengeance soon enough!
Very Nice Weapon
do you own a 7mm08? Would like to see that cartridge in the type of shooting you do....I am building a rifle in 7X57 AI myself, we will see how that goes...
I don’t own a 7mm 08 I know Social Regressive shoots his crazy far. 7mm08 is Just slower than my 7WSM that’s about the only difference
West Desert Shooter
k thanks for the reply ☺
It seems to bit of a shame to break that rifle down, its a damm fine shooter. I hope you have the same or better success with the new build.
Yeah I hope so too! But I’ve been wanting something with more legs for a while. I think the new barrel will be great!
My thoughts
You listed everything except what brand of under ware that you have on. How about unimported things like powder weight, barrel lenght. loaded round OAL and muzzles speed (you do have a cromo??). You turned your video into- I loaded some cartridges - shot them in my gun and the gun didn't blow up.
Why no unitah during this shoot?
It was there, I just made a separate video for it. Also I made an AR15 clip as well. Lots of footage coming soon
Good shooting, Sir! Guess we're off for some 7 rem mag?
Close, it will be a 7 WSM! And first bullet up is the Hornady 180 ELD
Couldn't help to notice that you didn't have any takes of the target from where you were shooting.
He throws a lot of ballistic jargon at you like he's a match shooter. Then he doesn't get any footage of the actual hits on target. Face it, he's a UA-cam sniper...
@@jasonlehman2090 hahaha! But to be fair, based on my limited knowledge, he does explain his adjustments and they do make sense. Also, I was looking into buying a rifle chambered in 243 because even now with the ammo shortage, I always see this and other hunting cartridges on the shelves, and the ballistics he mentioned are correct. He does need to buy a second camera to show his shots though. People expect that.
So 10 moa is 100in at 1000yds ?
Yes, there is a bit more but putting the decimal point in makes it more confusing. 1 MOA at 100 = 1 inch 1@1000 is 10 inches
Thanks for the response, great content and am learning tons!
Anytime man, I’m glad to help you learn. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Don’t be shy I didn’t know 99% of what I know today a year ago!
That's about .25 moa. Very nice!!!
These shot exceptionally well, I wish I had the scope dialed better to see how the fourth would’ve grouped!
I can’t hear the impacts due to the music. Lose the canned music please.
1,000 yards, that's what I have my 1911 chambered in .45acp sighted in for! HAHAHAHHA
If I were you I’d have the 500 smith sighted for that! Thanks buddy
Well thats a tikka. My tikka t3x 308win shoots lights out with crap fiocchi bulk ammo
Man your video is good but I just can’t see the target being hit. Sad.
Background music blows chunks!
Why do people assume that the music they like will be liked by everyone who watches their video? IMO the video would have been better without the background noise.
It is a sad day to remove a barrel that shoots like that . Like putting a fast horse in the barn .
But I will be bringing a bigger faster horse out of the barn! 😂 thanks brother I appreciate it!
Thousand-yard send off ,, ,, so sad
Nah Tim it’s the best way I can think of for a rifle to be finished, shooting great and getting hits at 1,000! There are plenty of rifles that struggle with that but this one shot awesome the whole time I had it.
why bother
WHY ARE YOU CONCERNED WITH BARREL LIFE? THEY HAVE AN EXPECTED 10,000 ROUND LIFE.
A 243 does not have a 10k Barrel life
More like 1500
