Thanks for watching this bit of Yugioh History! Can’t wait to show you the fun modern version of the deck on TeamSamuraiX1’s channel! Make sure you check his channel out to see when it goes up!
Future-Knight1 yep. But it’ll probably be just a fun deck and nothing too competitive because it’s next to impossible with only 2 Mali and 1 teleport to preserve the integrity of the deck, even more so with master rule 4.
This deck in highest rarity is still almost $1500. This is a lesson for those who complain about high prices in any format now. Just 2 dad and ccv were close to a grand.
When dad was first released and at three, they were pushing $300 plus 500-600 for the crush. I had a friend who’s dad return was $2000 and I don’t believe it was even max rarity.
I really like the explanation to the history. There's really not much coverage for these older events and to hear the experiences of a player used to play around these times are very insightful. Great video!
I remember yugioh players made ebay change their policy in this format. People would charge 1k-2k for a "chance" to get the deck. But would advertise as you were buying it. Then in the description would show the scam. It was crazy how many of these sold for 2k or more its insane.
Missing ghost stardust! But it’s also $400+ for the first Ed, so I understand completely! Great profile and thank you for the retro stuff, really takes me back. Other decks I’d like to see include Big city Little city Baburn QuickDraw drill warrior Junk and debris in space Perfect circle Frog monarchs And there’s many more I’m sure that I just can’t think of off the top of my head.
I hate ghost rares. I don’t get why everyone just can’t read the comments lol. They’re literally the ugliest rarity to me. I’d rather use gold rares over ghost rares because can I can actually SEE the card! Lol. (Plus using all ghost rares cost me a regional top several years ago :/ )
I think DDraw and Malicious were reprinted as supers in the middle of the format. But yeah, some of these cards stayed up there until after they were limited or banned. Great video, great format!
Those were the days. I was very lucky in being able to get all these cards, I didnt have a lot of money but i found a way. I stopped playing shortly before XYZ monsters came out, now I have no idea what's what.
Dark armed dragon at the peak of its dominance in the unrestricted format was going for $500 a pop. The only time it went down was when the gold series reprinted it. The real problem with the previous format was the fact that other than the people who were good enough to top 4 the shonenjump championships, you didn't have a reprint of cards like crush card virus, gold sarcophagus and another really good almost staple at the time was dark end dragon. Now I don't know what championship cards go for these days, but back then, in a format that was already super expensive to play in, adding those shonen jump chamionship exclusive cards easily doubled the amount of money you had to spend if you could even find one for sale. Other than this, I quit in 2009 in the format after DAD was limited and I remember that black wings were just as good if not better than this deck. So there was cheaper options. One side note, I beat adam corn in the finals of a regional qualifier side event in 2008 at sjc indianapolis gen con. Easily one of my favorite forms of yugioh.
Love the video because the history and the rarity whore in me loves the deck. Also I like DAD and still use him to this day, wish Konami would put him at 2 atleast.
You could have mentioned that the duelist genesis released book of eclipse which was sometimes played so rda could wipe all the board with a single attack
Okay, I played mostly in 2008-2013 so I remember how expensive this deck was. But reading all these comments in TeleDAD videos, it seems that no Deck in the last 5 years or so cost as much as TeleDAD on its glory days, which I find hard to believe as back in her prime a copy of Tour Guide cost like $100. Surely between then and now there had to be a challenger in terms of pricd ridiculousness?
One problem that I have is that you still have triple krebons. I’m pretty certain that even a little later, one krebons was dropped for a psychic commander due to great effecta against glads and easy blackrose which helped a ton of match ups. But overall very enjoyable video.
Most people still played three just because it was an allure target and strong normal summon. You already had a strong gb matchup. Commander wasn’t exactly commonplace. I used it in telezombies, which is where it saw more play and usage because of floaters.
Yea they were expensive but this version of tele dad had gorz which means ddraw malicious and card trooper were reprinted, which significantly dropped their value.
Trooper wasn’t a staple in teledad and the dlg variants of Mali and ddraw were easily still fetching $40-60/pop much like the super solemns reprints started at $20-$25.
Whenever i play retro decks, i always make room for 3 upstart goblins for some reason, lol I think i have a fetish for patrick hoban >_> I added 3 upstarts to teledad and it made the deck dumb fast. Faster than it already was xD I also hate the teledad mirror, its akin to playing gouki from the last format, who ever has stardust and judgment first wins
Allure actually got reprinted really quickly as a super, still it was like 20$ a piece but just a small thing you left out, damn I miss this deck maybe one day we will have triple Dad again, like the ocg
I don't like the pink sleeves or ads either :( Only sleeves I had at the time and didn't feel like resleeving just for a video. And as for the ads, they don't always appear and it's a pretty long video. Unfortunately, I gotta pay for the cards and production value if people want max rarity stuff. Watching a few or few extra ads usually isn't that time consuming if you're already invested into a lengthier video. That's the youtube grind my man. Hope you and everyone else can get past it. :)
Realy like tele dad! Building a deck reminiscent of it right now (saw your vid on team six samurai's channel). Earned a sub dude What's that background music btw?
The background music I think is just some stock music from UA-cam or royalty free music. Lately I’ve been using the same background music mostly on this channel, but I definitely change it up all the time on my second channel.
Thanks man, means a lot! Hopefully you like the vlog/2nd channel too! :) And yeah, I love yugioh history. I think it's really underrated and I'm probably one of the few who can talk about it since I've played the game nonstop since 2002.
No real reason to remake the same exact video if it doesn’t change anything. Super busy with life right now so I don’t have much time. Maybe one day I’ll make more videos
twiz I meant like similar ones of past formate decks like you were doing, like there’s so many such as infernity, dark worlds, dragon rulers and so on.. would be amazing to see them
I mean I’ve done a lot of those if you just search for them. I know within the last year two I’ve definitely done rulers and if not you can easily just go watch my videos from those years/format as well.
Ben Byrne dark armed was never banned. Also yes he could clear a whole board by himself and 2800 was too big for a Special summon. So if one is live then all your dark armeds are live.
There’s two different retro pack ones. The limited edition ones were the easiest to get. The unlimited are extremely difficult to find. I don’t remember the details of the release differences beyond that.
@@twizYGO Yeah I figured. I can't even find that unlimited version up anywhere. Funny how the "limited version" is easier to get than the "unlimited version" haha. I wonder if its like this only in yugioh lol. Love your channel btw! Used to watch you years back, finally found the channel again.
Yeah I think it may have been an unintentional printing or something. Like I said, I don't really recall, I just know that the unlimited RPs were rarer. And I'm glad you found it and could reconnect with my content man, glad to have you back as a viewer :)

I’m sure there’s others that know, but most people just don’t know. I don’t really care to draw attention to it since i don’t care about rarity like I used to in my teens. I just happen to have a lot of leftover stuff or borrow stuff that just happens to be max rarity. Shoot, I’ll play with an all common deck lol
Thanks for watching this bit of Yugioh History! Can’t wait to show you the fun modern version of the deck on TeamSamuraiX1’s channel! Make sure you check his channel out to see when it goes up!
A modern version of the deck that almost killed yugioh that I can play at my locals? This is why you're the best Yugituber
