We played this in my schools performance of the play “she kills monsters” which is set in the 90’s and has a lot of older pop culture references. It was obviously the closing song and we did our bowes to it. Whenever I hear it I just remember the good times we had back in school

When I used to work at this restaurant/bar we had a live stage for local bands and amateur nights. During the holidays people would often get pissed at the bar and linger there all night. Eventually the staff got fed up but could not out right do something about it so instead one night we set up the stage and at closing started singing this song in hopes people would get the message. We ended up having an encore and sing-a-long with the drunks for an extra two hours.

Loads of people calling AUTOTUNE!! yeah no.... There using an old recording trick called vocal layering basically they recorded there voices singing parts twice one at a lower octave and one at a higher and then overlapped the two recordings...

This is my absolute favourite song of all time. You have brought something different to it that is still pretty great. I love it.
I just sicked in my mouth a little bit.... way to take a really nice song and turn it into everything that sucks about music these days guys. If you had done this live, with feeling, it may have been a different story.
Another one of this professional "young plastic cover kids"- videos. Technically perfect but cheezy and softened 'til it hurts... Listen to the original - it's rough and powerful. This high-gloss-thingy here is (despite the pieces of fabric tape at the microphone) so aseptic and smoothed out that there is absolutely no soul left in this interpretation of that great song. Sorry, but they totally f***ed this song up.

this is one of the very best songs from the 90's, but i've ALWAYS disliked the way that the Semisonic version goes for the *BIG, DISTORTED CHORUS GUITARS* that were SO eminently popular at the time (it was, after all, only several years since "Smells Like Teen Spirit"). this is the version of the song that, for me, does it the way it should have been.

look, i'm a Music Tech and music student, i record on a weekly basis and i can tell you right now that the vocals are edited beyond belief, it takes away the power and soul that live peformances and less edited songs project, not saying these two aren't talented but with the amount of editing that goes into goots videos it just, for me ruins the songs.

This song takes me back to the first time over a year ago that I first hung out with my ex boyfriend for the first time and watched "Friends With Benefits"... it's funny how a song can take you back to a memory you'd tried so hard to escape and yet, you still know exactly who you want to take you home. Good stuff. Awesome cover.
