  • Okay, we are here to check Andrews Muscle Cars and his Collectables that he has gathered over the years. So, let kick on and check it all out.
So Andrew's Muscle Car collection consist of a HZ Holden Sandman, Z28 Camaro and a VL Commodore with a Calais front end. So lets start with my favorite the Holden Sandman. This HZ Holden Sandman was owned by a close friend that passed away and 20 years later, Andrew had the opportunity to purchase the vehicle back and did not hesitate as soon as he saw it. He clearly identified this as his mates car, Doug and had to have it. And he paid $5000 for the Vehicle. So he brought his and stored it until he moved to WA and then thought, well it a good time to restore this until I meet like minded people in the new state.
So he had a mission with the Sandman at first, because the first person he gave the car to did not do a great job in the panel shop and then the next one went bankrupt. He was about to give up when a well know Perth Car guy call Peter Stampoli helped set him him up with the right person to get it done himself at home. The Holden Sandman was original painted Firethorn Red be the first panel shop as per the factory colour but the colour did not appeal to Andrew and he changed this to HX Sandman colour called Bordeaux with a gold fleck through it and it looks stunning in the sun.
The Holden Sandman is running on 15" GTS Rims at present but he has a set of Convo Pros and other sets they he mixes it up from time to time. He has the original number matching engine in the the garage just in case he sells it in the future, which will ne happen. At present is running a 308 holden engine standard with a 5 speed gearbox and 3.36 limited slip diff.
The Holden Sandman is worth over $160,000.00 in todays markets, but in Andrew's eyes he looks at this very differently. This is not the first van that he has owned and he used to have a HR Holden, HX Sandman in Aqua and show van called Vandal that is located in Darwin now.
The muscle car in the collection is the Z28 Camaro that was brought after he sold Hatchback Torana that he rebuild from scratch. The Torana is located in Perth and is part of the Torana Car Club of WA and won Supercheap's Auto Car of the Year in 2021. He sold this vehicle for $30k to buy this amazing Z28 Camaro in Red with White racing stripes on it. Andrew asked his brother that lives in the USA and owns a diff business over there, to find him the perfect car and he delivered for a price of $10k for the Camaro and $2K for the transport to Australia. Not happening these days.
The Camaro was running a 350 engine but is now running a stoked 385 engine with Brodix heads and cams, plus push's out a massive 450 horsepower at the rear wheels. It also has a turbo 400 gearbox and 12 bolt rear end. The car was painted by some Mexicans in the USA over 10 years ago and it still looks flawless today. This is one awesome muscle car.
Now the baby of the collection. He brought Nana's VL about 3 years ago and was planning on putting in a big turbo, but after checking all the prices, he's son suggested the LS engine. So they did. The LS Engine costed them about $25K to do the conversion and to get it engineered and not they are think about putting the turbo on the LS. This VL is amazing looking from front to back.
Andrew take the LS to Zared Fox Automotives in Fremantle to get the engine rebuilt and to have it worked a little. Andrew swears by the work that Zared Fox did for him and will not go anywhere else now. The LS has a Big VCM Cam 710 and has the 9" diff. Its running about 400 horsepower at the rear wheels on the 20" rims and would perform better if it was running on 15" rim instead, but the look of the 20" rims on the car is stunning.
Andrew did all the body work himself and painted it back to factory Icy Blue, however, he did think about going Inceptor Yellow. He got Corky's Custom in Mandurah to hide the coil packs in the plemums, so it neat and tidy and now he has brought adapter plates to put rocket covers on the LS, so it looks like a 308 engine with fuel injection.
Stay tuned for episode two of Andrew Muscle Cars and Collectables.

Seen that van about its mighty fine love that, camaro is nice too, I do have a soft spot for the VL too, gets around a bit which is good... very clean. Great vid yet again thanks mate 👌🤘👍

@@AussieGarage that's good and priced about right as the cost to restore these cars isn't cheap. Often it's easier and cheaper to buy one already done and people will pay the price for them at the end of the day. I'm hoping I can buy a second hq coupe if they dip down enough but that's wishful thinking lol
