I love your vids. Thanks. One word, though. The word "waxed" represents misreading of "腊" in "腊味饭". "腊" means "cured" or "salted", as you have actually noticed, and then air-dried. The word "waxed" would make this Chinese delicacy repulsive.
"Waxed" is a direct translation in Cantonese. Wax or Lup (is a cantonese word) for candle wax. The traditionally oil preserved duck or pork takes on a waxy appearance hence was coined "Waxed".
