I love that when you express why a brush is needed it's never like "oh this is a really good brush". You actually explain in detail what it's good for. Also so grateful that you pointed out which ones are particularly useful or unnecessary in terms of hooded eyes. So many people go by a one size fits all type of thought process, which is super disheartening when you have hooded eyes and you use the product or brush or whatever and it just looks awful.
You've inspired me to keep going and keep trying new ways to use makeup in terms of my hooded eyes 😭

ME TOO!!! My cheaper brushes from like amazon seem like they’re better than my Morphe brushes. Morphe is the most expensive brand I have because I’m new at makeup, though. I’m looking into buying new ones but have no idea what to buy! Sigma seems so expensive 😭 but those are the most frequently raved about that I’ve seen and heard

Yessss!!! I use those little applicators all the time!! I bought a 200 pack for like $5 because I use them for a lot of shimmer, Metalic, foiled shadows as well as my pigments. Since jeffree Star is one of the only brands you can pick up is Metalic shadows with a brush & not have to wet them, these work perfect of every other brand lol I don’t mind using a finger on myself, but I don’t like going in with my finger on clients, plus you can get so much more precision with these. I love how they are double ended as well so if you wanted to blend a few shimmers on the lid in a gradient, then you’re not using multiple brushes. Or even if you had a couple pigments or glitter to apply you use one side for the glitter glue & the other 3 sides for whatever else. Who knew I’d be buying these in bulk when back in the early 2000s I always just tossed them cuz I thought they were worthless!! 😂

Thank you, Robert, for a really good video on brushes with very clear explanations of what they do and why you want them to do that. Anyone confused about eye brushes should watch this a few times.
Okay - I'm a brush geek so don't judge me, Robert said to talk about our favorites. With brushes I have seen the light and that light comes from Japan. There are many fine brush makers in Japan but for me it's Hakuhodo. The much loved J5523 is no joke. It's white goat hair, shaped like a MAC 217 and priced about the same only the 5523 is so much better. The hair is softer, uncut at the tips and the brush is made by hand. The hairs are placed, packed and layered with a lot more precision. It's ability to work with the shadows is also more precise. It's probably the brush I reach for most often. It's been reviewed in videos on UA-cam so you can see it for yourselves if you're interested. I don't work for Hakuhodo and I don't make videos, I just love their brushes.

A friend of mine is on a trip... And found body glitter on the what should be fresh sheets at the hotel... And is currently somewhere in South America, sleeping on top of the covers because he was so creeped out...
I was kidding him, (but really,) glitter lasts forever, and all it takes is one glitter-bitch and now you live with glitter, every day of your life... The glitter never leaves.

Discovered you yesterday. Already watched *lots* of your past vids. You are my new "best friend." BTW: I think you are gorgeous and have a most splendid nose. ;) Oh! One more vote for hooded eyes and older lady crepe lids.

I change my eye look with the seasons so I get to experiment with a lot. Yeah also watch a lot of hooded eye tutorials. Everyone has a different technique. Also tiny brushes. Currently. I'm doing neutral eye with liner. I do a very very tiny line with a MAC210 similar to the morphe 250-1 brush and a tiny flick. I also tightline and do the waterline. I do not line the bottom lash line. I just smudge a brown shadow underneath for evening or leave bare for day time.

I also have very small, partially hooded eyelids and I feel like the only thing that looks good is a matte darker color above the crease on the outer corner with a highlighting color on the inner corner and lid. Everything else kinda makes me look like a raccoon with beady little eyes :/

I enjoyed this video so much. So helpful for us makeup lovers who know we have gaps in our knowledge. I don't think your fear of loose glitter is irrational. Once you open up a container, you're finding little bits of it everywhere. That proves that you can't control where it's going to go even if you are careful.

I can’t stress enough how much you have been desperately needed in the UA-cam makeup scene. I had stopped watching makeup “beauty gurus” all together because; 1) I was so tired of feeling like I was watching the home shopping network. 2) I felt like none of the “techniques” ever applied to me in the real world. I’m a mother to two small children. Ain’t nobody got time for that! I just want to feel pretty and look like I give a shit. Thank you so much for everything you do! It is greatly needed!
Suggestion for video: “critique my technique” since you try to help by answering questions, maybe you could help by looking at the way people apply their makeup. I don’t know, just a thought.

For robert’s viewers: That Charles fox brush that he couldn’t find details for - great dupes for that are the morphe m222, m169, or m138 (and really out of those 3, the first is my fave), but I’m not exactly sure how stiff or loose the bristles really are but all 3 of those have the exact same natural hair bristle shape
Also the Charlotte tilbury one I’m guessing is pretty pricey lol. A dupe for that one (if it’s natural hair) morphe m515

Omg! I’ve been using those old eyeshadow applicators to apply any glitter or even metallic shades. It makes it pop so well that way!!! It’s funny cuz when Huda releases her brush set with the mercury retrograde palette one of them had that old fashioned kind of applicator n I’m like well that’s not some new thing! 🤣

Robert your channel is helping me so much! I went from dragging my foundations with my HANDS and just using whatever i can find at the drug store...make up and brush wise i would only have a pile of poo that came with a cheap foundation or powder...i am telling u i finally am finding out how to do my makeup! It is so much fun and I am finding that when I am having anxiety or a bad day my favorite things to do are to either start cleaning my house or doing make up or even both at once! Thank you so much for the information I have no interest in listening to beauty guru's talk about how they are going to sue each other while "baking" god i am so glad i did not spend money on baking powders i did not understand what we were doing there but hey here we are now thank u robert!

YES please do a video for complexion brushes! I've tried out so many but I would love to hear what your favourites are and how you prefer to use them. Also, what do you recommend for washing brushes? Do you use different soaps/detergents depending on if the brushes are natural or synthetic?

BH Cosmetics is actually pretty good for brushes, and reasonably priced!
Also, I store my eye brushes in one of those book cases that are meant to actually hold art pencils. It works really nicely. I bought it off Amazon.
Thank you so much for sharing and demonstrating. I feel more knowledgeable and confident after this one video than I did after the countless others I've watched from other popular artists.
