The mistake makes sense. Often we equate hydration or moisture with the feel of our hair instead a behavior. I think what we immediately perceive as “o this makes my hair feel moisturized” is just slip from the emollients in it (or silicones in those cases). Similarly to how ppl thought oils were moisturizing their strands for so long, because of how it feels. We know now that really water is the only way to hydrate but it doesn’t give us that “moisturized” feel. I’ve been trying to let that mindset go of how something feels in my hair, but it’s hard because actual moisturizing products do often feel soft and slippery so 😭 also @patternbeauty, please run this woman a check! She’s consistent 😂🧡

I'm excited to see the product battle, though neither is on my wishlist. I've bought more than enough products in the last week (when I needed not one thing). I thought I was being so strong avoiding all the Ulta sales, but it turns out that my "must buy new products" impulse just expressed itself in other ways.

I would try it again with water. Products with high glycerin works best with water. Actually that's the only way they work. Lol.
As a chemist myself I find it interesting that she used so much PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil (it's not Castor oil like you think)!!! It's such a crappy raw material. I wonder who's making her products🤦🏾♀️? Anyway that along is a no for me, and makes me not want to buy it for $25 bucks.

Hmmmmm, it's giving me African Pride preepoo. Not in color obviously but definitely in texture and slip (visually). Have you tried AP preepoo? If not, can you do a comparison between this and that?
I've tried the african pride prepoo before and they do look very similar but the AP prepoo is a little slimy/sticky and I find that it takes a while for my hair to absorb it. With this Pattern mask it instantly melts my tangles but its not as moisturizing as as the AP one. here's a link to the video I did using both african pride prepoos ua-cam.com/video/Bmkae9Sy4fk/v-deo.html It's been a while since I used it so I may revisit it to see if I feel the same way

Thank you!! I dont think I filmed this specific bun but I have another video where I did a curly bun that I will share. The only difference is that I left part of the front out (kind of a little U shape) and I twisted it to the side. My intention was to let it loose but after letting my hair lay for a bit I realized it was a whole look with the twists.
