I wouldn't exactly call it a curse, but it certainly opens your eyes to a human condition, as you mentioned, and a door to awareness of how simple life really is (or could be) if we stop letting the system brainwash us and go back to basics. Basics meaning coming back to yourself and the fact that as human race, we don't really need that much for a good, happy life, but our greed and desire for more (fueled by clever advertising) is driving all this need and the cost of getting it, making it practically impossible to achieve. Also unfairly competitive. No wonder people lose themselves in a loop of constant chasing of their own tail, feeling useless, insecure and depressed. But I guess you have to go through hell to get to a point to want to change your life. Some never do, though. On the other hand, on the journey of awakening, there is such a thing as being at risk of becoming a spiritual snob, so there is a constant need for self-reflection to avoid it. As you just pointed out speaking of being judgemental. There is also spiritual toxicity driven by those who have been somewhat 'awakened', but only enough to monetise little knowledge they aquired and then become false prophets and 'teachers', with no real, inner or otherwise, research to back it up, causing more damage than good. Hopefully, more people will start using their own intuition and discernment and become leaders in their own right/life, instead of just blindly falling into a culture of following anybody and any 'doctrine'.
thanks for your considered comment! I like what you say about how basic life really is. Seems it's part of the karma of our species to keep hitting our head against the wall until we finally break through to that simplicity.
