Chef-I have made this curry numerous times and didn't have a chance to tell you how great it turned out each time. Fantastic flavor and easy to follow. Even my kids (who are picky eaters) enjoyed it. Keep up the great work! A shout out form Chicago..Satish
I remember my mother's Chicken Curry recipe. I was born in Singapore and coming to America, our family took many Far East recipes here with us. It's been difficult to find some of our ingredients, but we make do and we always enjoy our dinner. Food is something that holds humanity together. I don't think you realize what a gift you are sharing with people when you post these videos. The gift of food is the greatest gift of all! Anyways, I've been using coconut milk instead of yogurt...
Dear Sanjeev Kapoor's Team, I have seen quite a few of your recipe videos. I have been cooking for about 15 years, now. I love the way chef Harpal talks about food. It conveys deep and sincere involvement with food and the process of cooking. The fact that you make it accessible is something to look upto- I have strived to do that myself whenever someone asks me for a recipe. I sense a fine blend of authenticity, innovation and improvisation in your approach. Keep up the great work!
I have not tried your curry yet, but i love your visual presence. My wife and i are new to the East Indian Cuisine world and am continually amazed at the complexity of curry. Please continue to take the time to share what you know about making this incredible cuisine. i am appreciative that you have taken the time to share your secrets with us!
I am mexican but same as you I love my mom so much and I love when she cooks for me. Out of 4 sisters am the only one that can cook almost like her. She's my inspiration my love my life my best friend she's always there for me and my sisters. I am definitely going to try this and shear it her. Take care it was an awesome video And always maintain that beautiful respect for your mother and women in generals. You have a new subscriber Ps don't pay attention to racist people they're the reason why society haven't given the best of them selves. And as I always say to everyone "Be a Lider not a follower , be the change you want to see in this world" ;)
Dear Mr. Sokhi, I am known to be a excellent cook in my family and friends circle but your recipes take food to a sensational level. Tried various items like this chicken, jeera aloo, bhindi anardana and the addition of freshly ground spices made such a wealth if difference. Thanks for all you hard work. Just wanted you to know that it really helps a lot of people who love cooking and entertaining.
Sat Siri Akal...Amigo.. I'm Portuguese and French-Canadian and love Punjabi dishes. This dish looks great. Wahe Guru Ji Kal Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh
Uncle, thank you so much for posting this great video. I followed the recipe to the T and my Indian husband loves it a lot, saying it's one of the best chicken curry he's ever tasted. I've been trying different recipes here and there and I am too glad I found this keeper.
Just finished a cooking course at college (Level 2 grade), and cooked this as part of my final exam meal, and got an A* result for my efforts, i did tell them that i got the cooking instruction from your UA-cam channel, (you really give clear instructions in all your video's). Many Thanks again, and please keep making further video's. P.S Chicken Curry and Onion fired rice as the main meal for the exam.
Thank you chef for sharing your mother's recipe. I will surely cook it this Sunday. I am fan of your cooking and the way you explain each n every step. Hats off....Hats off...
You are an excellent chef with such great taste, iv been using your recipes and its absolutely second to none. Thanks you very much and god bless my friend
My hubby is Punjabi..and if I could make this dish just the way your mom made it, it would truly blow his mind...and win me some brownie points! Thank you Chef , you are so kind to bring this familiar mummy's recipe to the world..i can almost smell the earthy flavors.. you're the best :)
Chef Harpal, I prepared this dish twice after following your recipe and both the times the results were awesome. Thanks for the recipe. I love your enthusiasm when you cook. Please keep up the good work.
Made this almost exactly as described and it turned out incredible. Slight changes were: I used 1 whole chicken deboned, sliced, and briefly marinated w/yogurt, turmeric, and chili powder. Cooked the wings separately to avoid overcooking the rest of the chicken then re-added them at the end. Excellent video, thanks for posting.
I was looking for a chicken recipe I wanted to cook for my mother , who is coming from India in next few hours. This is perfect. Keep up the good work, cheers!
I have now tried this recipe about 6 times and each time it gets a little better. Thanks for sharing it. One small question. The quantities here are based on 1kg of chicken. Should I increase all quantities in proportion to the amount of chicken used? For example, if I use 2kg would I then use 4 tablespoons of coriander and so on? Is there a formula for spice quantities?
paaji tusi te great ho poorane trike naal mummy de hath di bani (or sikhai gai) recepies di yaad dila diti maa de hath da swaad yaad aa gya modren trike di recioes bna bna ke orignal trika te bhool hi gai si thank u so much
Hi from Sri lanka, I tried this today. it was just perfect. I added lemon grass into the grounded mix.... it was awsome. Thank you. look forward to try more of your recipes.
excellent recipe. I did this 2 different ways for myself. I tried it strictly by your recipe the first time and I loved it, but the second time I decided that I wanted to thicken it up. I used a coconut milk and a little yogurt. Both were unique and amazing. I plan to make this for my grandfather the time I go over to visit. Thank you so much.
Love the enthusiasm this chef has. This is so similar to a recipe shown me by a Punjabi friend a long time ago, for which I had long forgotten the ingredients and method.
I tried this recipe and absolutely loved it. I can see why it brought back childhood memories! I'm going to make it for my wife who is a vegetarian. I'm thinking of substituting potato, cubed tofu and broccoli. As for this recipe, I tried it his mother's way and did not brown the onion. Wow!
I just made this recipe tonight and...HOLY MOLY! The broth had one heck of a kick and the dish was fabulous! My husband is from Southern India and I know he is going to love this! Thanks for sharing!
I made this today, and it came it awesome. Thank you... I am vegetarian and i substituted chicken with paneer and mutter.... the taste reminded me of highway side dhaba food in punjab i had 10-15 years back !
You have a beautiful spirit. I've made chicken curry before but I've never ground my own spices and Instead of water I used coconut milk. The curry gravy came out so thick and delicious. I also used tomato paste not whole fresh tomatoes. I will try your recipe the next time I make some chicken curry. Great video.
I love the chef's commentaries, as it makes the videos more enjoyable. Its great to cook your favorite childhood foods! My mother's chicken curry is a bit different, but to each is their own. Speaking of which I will be going home in 3 months and cant wait to her chicken curry!
ilike what u told about puree of tomato is great.. even my mother says so... mothers r always right.. i loved this recipe and will make it for sure...its so fresh n heALTHY..THANX AGAIN
Harpal you are a wonderful person. I like ur enthusiam and delivery. I wish we have more people of ur type in this world. BTW u chop faster than my electric chopper, take care of ur fingers though. I like the way u say "My mother's recipe". I am sure she is very proud of her talented son. Excellent tutorial. Thank you. May God bless you.
Hello Chef.. I tried out this recipe and it turned out SUPERB.. My husband and guests loved it... Thanks to your Mom and off course to you too for sharing with all of us. Happy Cooking!
i love this recipe!! what type of chicken did you use i used chicken breast, would i have gotten a different result if i used chicken thigh? i also added cayenne to make more spicy
Harpal you did make my mouth water! I like you style of presentation. It makes it interesting. I make chicken curry the same way.Except that my mom added beaten curds at the end, to give it that tangy sour flavor.
Sanjeev bhai this is how my mother cooks it you did well you have taken me back to memory lane MAA HAI MOHABBAT KA NAAM MAA KO HAZAARON SALAAM May Allah bless your mother
I love your mothers way of cooking this curry, the more traditional the better! I've made this twice now and both times have been excellent, thank you chef! Namaste
Hi Sanjeev Kapoor, I was hunting around for chicken curry recipes when I found you. To me (Scottish, living in England) your warmth and enthusiasm are a delight. Actually the reason I was looking around was to find out opinions about "skin or not skin". I always leave skin (and bone) on because it tastes much better, I think. However, more and more are skinning. What is the traditional view? Thanks. Ian
Your step-by-step delivered so naturally with listings across video is a GREAT help and I tried this recipe and it came out exactly how my dearest also used to make it - Great Tastes - Thanks Harpal, keep them coming
made this yesterday , it was amazing . and today it tastes even better. next time i make this i might change out half the water for chickenstock, or would that ruin the texture?
Oh my, this looks delicious, Indian food is my all time favorite type of food. I think I will try making this tomorrow. One question, are all the spices that you roasted and ground up considered Garam Masala? Because I have Garam Masala, but I also have the ingredients to roast and grind up. So which should I use?
Just tried this recipe exactly like you did, beautiful dish! Making your own masala with whole spices and roasting them really makes all the difference, and is really fast and easy. Thanks for this!
whenever u say my mother used to say this or do this i definitely note that down but this recipe is completely ur mother's recipe thank u so much chef for sharing it with us
I just finally cooked this wonderful dish and I must say, it is so much better than what I've tasted a different restaurants!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
followed this tonight. My 1st ever totally from scratch meal including the home grown chillies. (carolina reapers). Other than being probably a tad too hot for most people, the flavor of this was amazing and reminded me of being a 18 year old in Goa with the Army having to learn to eat hot food that tasted nothing like the crap the restraunts server up over here.
Thank you and thank your mom. I love this recipe and have made it a few times now. It turns out perfect every time, its the best curry I have ever made.
i will def try this out ! looks so yummy ! loved the way u expalined ! really ur mom would be so proud.. u explained with so mcuh of passion ...u a great cook ! keep up the good work sir
