- MORE IDLE ANIMATIONS: bit.ly/ZsFlZ8
This video is for Pokemon Generation 1 and Generation 2 Only.. If you like to See Generation 3, let me know in the comments!
When you do nothing for a while in Pokemon Stadium 2 your pokemon does their Signature Battle Pose as well as their Pokemon Cry. They also do this when they first enter the battle. Of course I did it the hard way and waited for them to do the animation for each Pokemon... 251 pokemon... except for Babasaur where recorded him to be the only character to come out of the pokeball. I arranged all 251 Pokemon in order by the Pokedex!
Hope you enjoy the video!
I will be uploading "the making of this video" in the near future to show you how annoying it was just to get the idle animation... I usually don't make videos like that but this one deserves it...
Alternate Titles:
All 251 Pokemon Idle Animations
All 251 Pokemon Battle Introductions
All 251 Pokemon Battle Animations

0:25 that Blastoise is like "I got cannons? Aww sweet!"
I like the fact that they modernized the older cries from gen 6 onward while still keeping them recognizable, but these sound more like the sounds you would expect animals to make. Pidgeotto is my favorite.
I wish modern Pokemon had the Pokemon Stadium cries Persian and Ninetales cry was so beautiful.
But...Ampharos...My beautiful Ampharos...
yea, most of their cries are basically realistic versions of the originals. you can even compare them and notice the similarities despite having different sounds.
i personally love them. i liked Haunter's in particular since the original barely sounded like anything. i prefer that toilet-like scream he makes lol
I honestly prefer it when Pokemon sound more like actual animals than just saying their own name.
The only exception is Pikachu. I honestly can't imagine anything other than "Pika pika!" coming out of its mouth.
I have this headcanon that Pikachu, Mew, Togepi and the other Pokemon confirmed to say their own names are named after their calls rather than the other way around.
@@CJCroen1393 me too
Agreed.
200th like xd
It also makes more sence. I mean, its strange that Pokemon cant talk or speak to human, but they call out their names, which they got from the humans? (In every language also another word)
they sound way more organic and natural than the sound clips in the recent games
Ninetales's cry sounds absolutely beautiful and chilling.
Vulpix looks like she wants to nuzzle me! Awww!
I too love being reminded that a game from 20 years ago had more personality than the last six years of Pokemon.
🤣🤣🤣 Stadium 2 is the best!!! I still have it and my n64 to this day
You are nostalgia blind as hell if you think "doing your cry while facing the screen" is more personality than modern era pokemon
getting to go each game doing on average about 100 pokemon each instead of having to make 5 generations worth plus a batch of new ones will typically do that though won’t it?
@@SissypheanCatboy you obviously don’t get the difference.
@@deniseleon3268 Speak for yourself lmao
Muks cry always scared me when I was younger. I had to cover my ears or turn the volume down so that I couldn't hear it.
as a even younger child the i am i used to be scared of shelder.
Muk backwards
@@promisnwekenta9703 very very funny kum
DUDE SAME
I was actually really scared of muk line because they looked really scary to me and I was thinking that they will come out of the bathroom and kidnap me...
Lol, what fantasies XD
All he said was KUM!
Now here's a question... Why didn't Game Freak use _these_ versions of the cries in Gen VI, since they replaced all the original LR35902 cries with "high-quality" ones?
And why the flip does Pikachu get a special cry in Gen VI anyway? That's some right bull donk!
+SilverPirate Fox I don't think laziness would have stopped them, especially since these cries were not used in Colosseum and onward. It was probably a licensing issue, since the old Stadium games were developed by HAL laboratories, while the rest were developed by other companies. They probably couldn't afford to renew the license or didn't want to.
Jordan Bickelmann
Hmm haven't thought about that licensing issue, good point.
Jordan Bickelmann This however doesn't explain recycling the Stadium models for Pokémon Colosseum.
Pikachu actually got a special cry in Pokemon Stadium games, too. This video failed to include it. Pikachu from Pokemon Yellow will actually use the anime cry.
Tabaki the cries can just be revamped. they sound like better representations of the cries, much less digital than on the games. in newer gens they use sound effects that are more faithful to the motif if a mon is an animal or a specfic thing. Klefki sounds like keys literally jingling, mons that are dogs have barks and growls, etc. older mons have stranger cries compared to newer ones but the stadium cries sound like actual cries.
I love Lapra's cry, Imagine that you are in the middle of the night on a cliffside, hearing the waves and the moonlight clearing the whole landscape, while all of the sudden you hear on the distance 8:08 and you see a lonely silluette of a Lapras passing by barely seeing a few details of it's body with the help of the moon, and suddenly a pack of them emerges from the water, attending the call of the leader, everyone singing along.
@TheFriendlyRadicalExtremist Cheesy shit?
Pigeotto sounds like an actual bird xD
Ironic is, that Rattata sounds like a Cat 😄
Some birds actually sound like that? Really?
so do Ponyta and Rapidash. they sound like actual horses.
Really good video. Also, I've realised why something felt off about Pokémon X and Y to me: the lack of entry animations. The Pokemon just emerge from their pokeballs and stand there, whereas in Pokémon Stadium they each have a unique animation when they emerge which at least shows a little bit of personality. Girafarig and Miltank are my favourites, and Donphan is cool too!
Well, they do have idle animations.
most of the animations of the Pokemon in Pokemon stadium 2 and 1 were put into the 3DS pokedex pro tho. the Pokemon were just modernized.
Not to mention the knockout animations are a lot less dramatic too. I suppose it's to help improve the flow of gameplay, but isn't that what the "Remove battle animations" option is for?
4 years later and here we are
He/She saw the problem years ago, while I only realised with sword and shield.
I just realized how horrifying Crobat really was
IKR!!!
The thing that threw me off was the fact that its teeth were the bottom set instead of the top.
10:30
Actually this game made me realize how beautiful it is, and now it's one of my favorite Pokémon, and this one is my favorite version.
If ONLY somebody could upload these cries without the music/ambient noise.
I would actually pay someone to do that.
I'd love that
good news, old commenters, because i finally found a program that does this. using this video for reference because it is extremely tedious to do one by one and if i bulk extract they're all over the place lmao
They’re all finally ripped and uploaded at The Sounds Resource.
@@AguFungus can anyone upload it to youtube all in one video?
i would love to have it in one video.
HackerHaunter Look it up. It’s been done.
0:27 lol blastoise is like "huh where did these come from?"

The floor tentacles,

Love the coy look and ear thing Lapras does at 8:10. A very small detail but adds so much character and personality
Each Pokemon's SINGLE animation from 20 years ago is still more expressive and has WAY MORE personality than every animation combined for each Pokemon in the newer titles. Game Freak is lazy! XD
Yes! XD
It seems they stopped trying around X and Y
gamefreak didn't make stadium 1-2....and colosseum was made for another one company ...same as battle revolution that's why this cries were never used again
Honestly bravo for going through all the effort of doing this. I got to relive my childhood for 16 minutes thanks to you :)
I ADORE the Noctowl cry at 10:12, it’s the original pitch/melody but sounds SO realistic omg
Interesting. I did hear that the Stadium games made the cries more realistic, and less like game noises, but I never noticed.
It’s sad that this 20 year game has more personality than Sw/Sh.
Well this wasn’t by gamefreak so maybe that’s y it had better animation
They also had like……a fourth of the number of Pokemon they do now.
Stadium 2 is effing legendary!!!!! I have YET to beat it, got the game when I was like 4-5 years old, well technically it’s my brother’s game but I played it waaayyyy more than he did lol
@@PixarShark And they also had like half the technology we do now
Also they can like, make new games without adding so many pokemon? lol
Since Gen 6, sprites and the old 3d production are the best
6:37 HITMONLEE SOUNDS LIKE A 🐸
*WTF*
Ikr, I can't believe hitmonlee sounds like a frog emoji
kinda makes sense why he sounds like that. i mean, he has no mouth lol
One of my favorites tbh lol
And then Hitmonchan sounds like a chicken
This is what I was hoping we were gonna get with Sword & Shield’s graphics...
Weird polygons and low res textures?
He's talking about the animations
Amd aa for the graphics, just look at nearly every modern AAA these days
I need to know who the animators are because they did such a good job! You can feel how much fun they had animating all the pokemon, giving them a distinct personality!
The Pidgey line has to be my favorite in terms of cries. I just like them for some reason
THESE are high quality animations.
The addition of sound-effects like flapping wings and the thuds of stomping or a Pokemon landing after jumping REALLY adds a ton to things!
They sure don't make animations like they used to... which is to say they don't make them with universal effort anymore! Signature moves, sure but forget about flavor animations like idle, reactions, attacks that use certain appendages, etc... those that exist just don't measure up to some, if not MOST or even ALL, of these.
these animations were so much more amazing than the current 3d works they have in any game, im hoping these come back
They not coming back because this new generation is gonna support the franchise no matter how bad the games are animation wise smh
Alakazam is all "LOOK AT MY SPOONS"
My spoons are amazin
I'm your friend. I'm everybody's "friend". But this isn't what I really look like!
Dr Alakazam's house of spoons in...3D.
I love pokemon stadium's exeggutor cry. it just sounds awesome.
Vupix and Ninetails crys sound beautiful i like it a lot
Skarmory's cry is my favourite, Lugia a close second.
Lugia's cry is still awesome on Pokémon Stadium!
I still see these graphics as the Best in N64, I mean come on look at the furr, the wings both feathered and bug, the attack effects and expresions, well you get the idea, is really good~ and very admmirable for it's time. aa the memories..~
Watching this made me realize that these games were great. They should've used these cries in the 3DS games instead of the re-recorded scratchy ones. I think Game Freak had to get live animal sounds for most of them and used those as a basis for the cries.
They do.
Blizzy-P what
Did it occur to you that they were replying to a comment that isn't here anymore? Well done for assuming had faith.
YEAH YEAH WOO WOO
I wish some of these were in the current games but most of them just sound... very weird. To more exact, most of them sound like birds lmao
Hitmonlee’s cry is iconic
1:01 OMG THAT IS THE CUTEST THING EVER. 😭😭😭
Vileplume's cry was always one of my favorites from this game, along with Vulpix.
I appreciate all the work you put into this, thank you :)
I love the animations, they obviously took time with each model. I love the kangaskhan animation, so wholesome
Skarmory's Stadium cry will always be the most badass, imo
I like Fearow's too.
Haunter ftw !
Ha! I was just thinking through the entire video "man this must have been tedious as fuck to make", and then read your message at the end, seems I was right
Yeah, I got stressed making it and a few headaches. The making of this video will be uploaded later on.
Yeah.. It takes about 3 minutes for a pokemon to play an idle animation
What do you mean by finding them?
Villager literally going through the whole game collecting and finding every single pokemon in the game?
LOL! villager join UA-cam!
The cry’s are so amazing Bulbasaur sounds like a Frog so much and the rest are so cool they feel like actual animal sounds from growling to Roaring and gives it such realism and it’s AMAZING, this is why stadium 1,2 are my top favorite games and we need a Switch stadium
Watching through this really makes me wonder what would happen if you took these animations and redid them on the modern models.
Also, Igglybuff's little taunt was super adorable and 10 times better than the singular animation she has today
Considering how awful Mewtwo’s animations look on a new model in Battle Revolution, my guess is that some of them might not look the best, but who knows
Heh, Bulbasaur kind of sounds like he's saying "Buuuulb!"
wileyk209zback
Nice to see you here, wileyk209zback!
I always thought he said “Mama”
Why are these Pokemon better animated than the current generation
Ah, when effort was put into games. Ninetales sounds so majestic, and I love how Noctowl's cry has it's cry mixed with the sound of an actual owl. They're not all perfect, like the chikorita line sounding like a bird, but you gotta appreciate the effort put in making these sounds and the animation
When the polemon was alive...it felt like such a treat, raising it to get it onto the big screen! And now Nintendo have been so lazy , taking the life out of that by just making them stand there ...they don't have their idle anymore? I feel like the modern plmn would look better in the shitty n64 graphics.. I mean at least they'd be their real size(🙄) if Nintendo can't even be bothered to make their own creation look real like it's supposed, or accurate to sizing in all its glory...what kinda franchise is that! They wouldn't send this lazy , half baked and heartless designing into their old games like stadium, so why now??
The pomemon don't even make contact when they punch each other..just sound effects like a comic or cartoon, but that's more believeable
How I wish they bring back the series. It has more potential now with the Switch
2:00, I love you, Nidoqueen!
@@Irishstile Yassssssss queeeeeeeeen
Exeggutor still has my favorite even though it’s just a lower version of Jynx’s cry
Got recommended this at an interesting time ;)
Crobat is nightmare fuel
Look at Pinsir
The animations are snappy. They have weight and anticipation. Certain parts of the Pokemon tremble and shake to show impact and power. Their animations add so much to their personality. Even Rhyhorn, a pokemon made of rock, flares out shoulder panels. Goldeen blows a kiss. Machoke strikes a pose and roars. Even Spinarak gears up and shows the pattern on its back (which actually turns into a frowny face!)
It's an absolute crime in GameFreak's 3D Pokemon games, that the animations are so bad. Imagine a boxing game where you and your opponent stand there with arms down or limply up, just swaying back and forth a bit with cheap smooth animation. Makes me sad and mad :(
5:33 It CLEARLY says "Come".
Muk spelled backwards
(Noticed bad grammar, profile pic, and no other signs of a interest in Pokemon on account)

Not bad, I enjoyed this video! ^_^
Thanks :)
these cries... its like the cries in-game in real life...
I kinda like these pokemon cries in this game
8:25 flareon shaking it’s tail is so cute
I wish they had brought these back in XY. They're really a lot better than the remade versions they used for the game, IMO. Especially with a lot of the later cries being actual soundbytes and not just chipsounds.
God this brings back memories XD
It sounds so much better like this then them saying their names all the time in the anime.
2:22 “AWWW! VULPIX! I WANNA PET HER!” I said calmly.
Bro Blastoise is like “You think I’m a normal turtle, well check out mah guns”
9:14
I Love Mewtwo's Cry with the Classic N64 Soundfont
Joaquim Marçal It's also cool that the fans who made Super Smash Bros Legacy XP added the same animation and battle cry in one of his taunts
This is all I wanted in sword and shield
same man..
These animations are still pretty awesome
That Nidoqueen jiggle tho lmao

Nidoqueen will always be my favourite.
How are animations in a 20 - 19 year old game more lively than Sword and Shield???
Good job.
Ohh exeggcute a day staryu essentially have the same idle, that’s crazy.
4:15 Machamps cry is hilarious, like hes throwing a tantrum. Lol.
Sounds like me as a kid
Buster Kabal I love Machoke's faint animation, he uses the last of his energy left on his final cry.
10:28 only now I see how Ariados' behind looks like it's face but bigger. Took me way too long to realize...
Generation 3 would be nice, thank you.

Charmander, Charmelion and Charizard come normally before Squirtle, Wartortle and Blastoise.
2:01 Nidoqueen, chill. No reason to be _horny_ here.
BOOOOOOO
Horns
My favorites are Articuno, Mewtwo and Ho-Oh
Starting the video with the pokeball was nice.
Anyone noticed Chikorita's and the other evolutions crys sound like a seagull
Yup
It's clear that there are what the original cries were trying to sound like. Still, I prefer their updated cries for most of them.
Playing Pokemon Shield right now, one of my laments from the game is that their still using those digitized cries instead of actual animal sounds like in Stadium. I remember my favorite sound from Stadium was Zapdos. Can't pin what real life animal thats based on, but I know I've heard it somewhere on Discovery Channel.
I miss playing this. I had both when I was a kid
golduck sounding like a duck and mankey + primeape sounding like monkeys caught me way off guard even though those are the animals they’re based on lol
We need this again in modern Pokémon games.
It's Generation 9, now.
Look at how much better Exeggutor looks here than in the new 3D games.
It's like the designers were purposefully sabotaging it visually so the Alolan form would look better.
I've always loved how bouncy and fluid oddish's animation was. It's so satisfying to look at 👊😔
Vileplume @ 2:50 - Trying to fly away from my problems, even though I know I can't fly :p
Mantine still sounds like hoot hoot hoot
Poliwrath's animations are fantastic
I used to love hearing Skarmory's "Aohhh-EEEE!". I think pkmn stadium 1 & 2 by far had the best renditions of cries for pokemon as they were realistic and sounded like the call of a wild animal yet in most cases you can still hear resemblance to the original handheld gameplay version. These older games really seemed thought out where as games today not saying they're completely bad but it seems newer games are more about looking polished. Older games had a lot of soul and character injected in them.

Cloyster looks so badass. 😎
Way better than 3ds or switch!
true that
