What a thought-provoking documentary conducted with respect, dignity, and tolerance. I, like most people, felt the outcome was appalling and unsatisfactory. Apete, should have served a very very long time in prison, the justice system has failed Scott's family. May Greg and John rest in peace.

I have never witnessed such a personal and tragic story provided with such honesty, sensitivity and tolerance , realizing the various indirect victims besides his brother and not making judgements on the circumstances of the various tragic acts. It seems that this brother lives the spirit of tolerance, care and making no judgement as his father was preaching them but not practicing them.

One thing that was touched on, which needed to be clarified and explored, was the mention of boys, including Apeta, who may have been sexually exploited as children by John Scott. Then much of this makes sense...and why Apeta would destroy his life, give up his rugby career, after seeing him on the television talking about how others were looking under his shirt to see if he had wings.. Angel..? hmmmm. It's all too common for monstrous pedophile predators to go after native children. Money usually protects them. Blaming Christianity is nothing unusual..par for the course.

@@yanifree114 Blaming the victim is nothing unusual, your efforts to do the same here are as tired and disgusting as the rest. It's all too common for monstrous internet trolls and homophobic corrupt politicians to make false accusations that so easily appeal to the hate and fear inside people, especially the feeble-minded, in order to deflect attention and responsibility from the actual perpetrators. The depths of chauvinism is boundless in its defense of evil.

@@jbdbean242 It's all to easy too to find nastiness going on within the circles of important people ;politicians, celebrities and the like, when people brave enough dig deep. When I heard the circumstances of the murder I couldn't help recall the revelations about so called charity workers, including the Red Cross, sexually exploiting youngsters who were victims of a natural disaster in Haiti. This is not blaming the victim, this is being alert to what people with power over others can do and how it can be covered up, sometimes for decades.

Possibly Apete was a subconscious homosexual himself and unable to live with his feelings. Judgemental people often are that way because they're afraid that they themselves will be judged, so they sell themselves as being the opposite of how they feel inside. Shakespeare's "methinks thou protests too much" pretty much says it all.

Prior to colonialism was total conquer, annihilation and subjugation, such as Genghis Khan, the Ottoman Empire, and similar tribal warfare anywhere on the planet. Despite conflict and power struggles, it also was not a product of invasion, as were the previous examples given, and also the expansions by invasion of the more recent totalitarian Communist and fascist states of the USSR and (defeated) Nazis and Imperialist Japan.

He was raised in a homophobic country and steeped in hatred for the Indian community, and when he saw John go to their aid in the violent coup he snapped. This was a vicious and brutal hate crime, and he was let off easy because of race, homophobia and celebrity, a popular local who was a big star athlete. Such a remarkable documentary, narrated with such honesty, tolerance and without judgement. I say this because its difficult to ignore what the producers are clearly not telling you about the underlying motive for this dastardly crime. Legally, I think justice was not served to the two victims (RIP) and he should have been charged with premeditated murder. If motive had been the element for the crime of murder (which it is not) then I agree with the prosecutor that the verdict was overwhelmingly satisfactory. I applaud the producers, and particularly Owen, for courageously exploring all sides of this tragic story which has left me with the 'fuckbuddy gone wrong' scenario, and as such left me feeling compassionate towards Apete for the trauma he had tried to suppress but that was triggered when he watched the lone figure of John in his Red Cross vest and being lauded as an angel. Anyone who has understood someone struggling to survive a traumatic past of being groomed as an impressionable teenager for sex and idolizing your abuser and then being rejected will know what a volatile cocktail it stirs in someone once they realize the shame and guilt of what they allowed. Tragic outcome for all involved.

The consequences of colonialism and the subjugation of sovereign nations by Christianity in the name of 'civilisation' are apparent here. There can be no doubt that every colonised nation in the world, if left to their own devices instead, would now be much better off. That being said, the murder of John Scott and Greg Scrivener is tragic, as are all atrocities committed in the name of 'God'.

Similar story of my family that went to India in the 1800's as well. Family left and went to England. Same story. White mischief days etc. Have you read white moguls? We have a lot of mix but it was not spoken of until mid 80's.

I'm sorry, but I cannot watch your channel anymore. The fact that you are allowing youtube to put political ads that we cannot skip or block on your channel is not acceptable. Make youtube stop that practice and I will happily watch your channel again.

Was Apete insane? NO. He was as insane as many people walking around: they have a wrong concept of right or wrong and go around judging others when it's none of their business to do so. He knew what he was going to do - he planned it and he enjoyed it. Excusing himself in the words he underlined on a book. "The book" said that the blood would be on the head of the one's getting murdered. HOW CONVINIENT!!! Such a nice excuse to have...
He was not insane. "You shouldn't not kill" - He knew this much!
Maybe he was a hiden GAY...
    LORD!
Isn't it convinent to blame one simple man for all that is going on with you and around you?
    Is so typical of cowards.

If you don't know the true story of John Scott... dont comment.. if you knew what that man did to apete and other young men then you probably understand how a man could kill another man...
