  • Thousands of illegal aliens stream across the border every week, yet the Left wants to get rid of immigration enforcement. It’s understandable why people from all over the world want to come to the United States. It’s still the land of opportunity. But should we open our borders to everyone, no matter their legal status? Is that the compassionate thing to do? Is that the prudent thing to do? Will Witt raises some important questions on this difficult issue.

If the "nation of immigrants" "argument" is the logic for never saying No to any immigrants, legal or illegal, who want to live in the US, should we also apply the "nation of colonists and slaves" logic and resume those practices? Good points. A few notes:
    1. cartels are making not "maybe billions", definitely billions, an estimated $13 billion in 2021, per DHS.
    2. it's much more common for a legal immigrant (mule) to smuggle drugs through a port of entry than it is for illegals. The reason should be obvious; volume.
    3. 43% of encounters at the border involve immigrants from countries other than Latin America.
    4. A few negatives not mentioned were: wage slavery, kidnapping leading to human and sex trafficking, sexual and physical abuse at the border.
    5. In 2023, 560 deaths at the border of migrants attempting to cross. If you want to have compassion for migrants, building the wall would save lives.

    • @ThatsRight1776
      @ThatsRight1776 4 дні тому

Points 1, 3, 4, 5 seem accurate and I agree. Point 2 seems wrong, why? Well because you're more likely to get caught smuggling at a port of entry than being a "gotaway" somewhere in the vast deserts of Arizona. Also, why would a legal immigrant be smuggling drugs? Mules are drug traffickers, but they are most likely illegal aliens smuggling as a form of payment to the cartel for trafficking them across the border.

Funny I just came across and listened to a video by VOX on the topic of immigration.
It was actually very good talking about how bad and unnecessarily long it takes to make a decision for a legal immigrant. There should be a fair, straightforward way to become become a citizen.
But of course they declared it was terrible to not just let in anyone who applies. Except murderers. They did agree murderers should be kept out.
I watched a documentary on people riding the "death train" up through Mexico. At least two groups were women with very young children.
I'm going to guess they were barely literate in their own language and don't speak english. So how were they planning to work and take care of their young children? They were coming expecting to be taken care of.
My heart broke for them. I don't blame them for coming. But their own country is responsible for them.
Because I also recently watched a documentary of senior citizens in America. Two women were living in rooms in a run down motel. Two other people were in their 70s living in a car and a van. And in sunny Arizona I guess you at least won't freeze to death living on the streets of Tucson in your late 70s.
America like every country must take care of it's citizens first.
The government takes our taxes with the promise that those taxes will be used to take care of us. It's time they started.

American citizens, natural born, ancestra, and legal immigrants built the house. How is it fair to let someone else come and live in it? We have very generous immigration laws, and those who want to come he have to use them. First thing to do is to make anyone legal or otherwise who enters the country, inelligible for any benefits for the first five years here. If you only come for those benefits, then stay home.

One side of the argument that these people also never consider is helping (in a hopefully non-interventionist way) the home countries of these people. Do you never stop to think other countries deserve to be as good as you don't believe America is? Why can't Venezuela be prosperous and beautiful too? Don't the people you so desperately want to help deserve to not have to risk their lives coming to such a "racist" land and be happy where they are?

There is essentially no truth at all in this video. Immigration is now and has always been highly beneficial. New immigrants do not drive down wages because they are not just adding to the supply of labor. They are also adding to demand for goods and services. And since they help extend specialization and the division of labor, they help us increase productivity, which is the source of higher wages. Wages go up with immigration, not down. This is what logic expects and what the data shows. Immigrants contribute much more than what a few of them take in welfare benefits and immigrants commit crimes at lower rates than native born Americans. Further, since the Constitution does not authorize Congress to put restrictions on immigration, the current immigration laws are null and void. There is no such thing as an illegal immigrant, if we are to obey the Constitution. There are no good arguments for immigration restrictions. If all countries practiced freedom of movement, the resulting economic benefits would be enormous and would quickly eliminate the worst poverty around the world.

ANY immigration ends up changing the land they arrive to. The majority benefit their new land, even if they are low skilled workers!
Illegality compels any government to act upon the issue. However, the worst happened: issue was politicized in a very negative way!
Current immigrants do not go there for the benefits, they go there to work, live under very austere conditions while they send money to their families in their country of origin!
Yes, I agree that the USA must control the southern border, as it should control ANY of its borders, right?. But putting all the blame on people who just want to have a better life is very low, specially for a country founded by immigrants!
How come, with all the resources available to a developed country like the USA, the problem keeps getting worse and worse, just like the drug problem? Maybe a new approach, a much less political approach, must be tried to solve this issue! $200 billion dealing with the issue and not solving it, maybe you have your own problems (monetization of immigration).
Personal confession: I lived in the USA, studied and received my engineering degrees there. Though I wanted to stay and work, laws and the job market at the time made it impossible; I returned home! No resentment, no bad feelings. May other were able to stay, including a brother of mine!

We don't need more workers. We've had enough of giving away our jobs, resources and land. American jobs and resources should be for Americans.
We have plenty of workers. The low-skilled American workers deserve career training so they can elevate to higher-salaried jobs. We need to invest in our own before giving our jobs to foreign workers.
At 400 million citizens, immigrants (both legal and illegal) are not a benefit. They are competition. We have been way too passive about immigration for so long. And we have been guilt tripped into this mentality that we owe the world a spot in our workforce.
Now, so many Americans are waking up to the reality that we are giving away the farm. Public opinion is rapidly moving toward a ban on all immigration. How long? There isn't a consensus on that yet. But, there is a general agreement that all immigration needs to end.
We are done. We don't want anymore immigrants.

Immigrant candidates coming to free western countries should all be asked by immigration authorities the following questions and should be required to sign a document affirming their answers:
    1. "Do you believe that if someone drinks alcohol that is his/her own business, not yours?"
    2. ""Do you believe that every person of every other religion has just as much right to exist as yourself and should never be harassed?"
    3. "Do you believe that women are equal to men and should have all the same privileges as men, and do you agree that while you are in this country this country's laws concerning the age of consent and the age of majority prevail over any norms of your own culture, and that forcing any female into sex against her will is rape and should be punished severely under the law?
    4. "Do you agree that if a woman in this culture wants to go around with her head uncovered or her arms or legs revealed that she has a right to do so and to the extent our law allows her to, and that any punishment exacted in this land, is the business of the state and none of your business?"
    5. "Do you believe that, if someone of your own religion, if you have one, wants to leave that religion and join another religion, or become an Atheist, Agnostic, or Deist, that he or she is free to do so and should not be molested or harmed by anyone for that decision?"
    6. "Do you agree that, since one of our customs is freedom of speech, everyone here should be allowed to draw pictures of whatever they want, or say whatever they want to say, within the limits of OUR law, even if it offends yourself or someone else or someone's religion, and that they should never be molested or harmed for doing so?"
    7. "Will you agree that, if you ever are caught supporting terrorism by speech or by action that you will allow yourself to be unceremoniously deported back to your country of origin; and, even if you'd attained citizenship in this country since arriving, to give up that citizenship voluntarily and leave?"
    8. "Do you agree that if you are ever convicted of committing violence of any sort during a protest that you will immediately give up your citizenship here, or your visa allowing you to stay, and can be immediately deported back to your country of origin without a trial?"
    9. "Do you agree that this country owes you nothing and that you'll have to work to earn a living here and that, if after the first thirty days, you don't have a job, you will no longer accept public assistance, and that, if you fail to find a job within six months, you will voluntarily leave the country and return to your country of origin or go to another country?
    10. "Do you agree that Jews have just as much right to exist as people of any other religion, including Muslims, and that should you ever be caught denying those of another religion, or Atheists, Agnostics, Deists or Jews their rights, or Israel's right to exist, that you will allow yourself to be deported to your country of origin without a trial?"
    11. "Do you agree to abide by all laws of this country while you are here, and to respect the customs and traditions of all other religions present here?"
    12. "Do you agree that this country's laws take precedent and that, even if this country's laws conflict with those laws which you are used to, this country's laws always apply while you are here?"
Those who answer Yes to all twelve points above would go to Line 1 and be granted asylum until their country of origin is stable, after which they would be deported to their country of origin or a country of their choosing, unless they've applied for citizenship, sworn an oath to abide by these laws and customs and have not violated any laws of this country.
Those who answer No to any one of the twelve points above would go to Line 2 and be immediately bussed to the nearest embarkation point and be deported to their country of origin and forbidden to ever return.
If anyone deported ever returns and unlawfully enters the country, and is convicted of unlawfully entering the country, he or she should automatically earn a ten-year prison sentence without parole or time off for good behavior.
Key to this, whether here temporarily for asylum or here as a new citizen, will be the requirement to swear an oath of allegiance that includes all of these points. ANY violation of that oath, even one so simple, as verbally harassing someone because their customs are different than one's own, once reported to the authorities, will require the violators deportation to their country of origin upon a guilty plea or finding of guilty in a court of law.
