Man the media really makes my blood boil with how they treated Michael. From calling him Jacko, to the headlines, and getting all up in his face with those stupid cameras. I hate what they did to him. Ever since the This Is It tour was announced I truly thought I had a chance to thank him in person for how much he and his music has helped my life. I wish he was still here. RIP King 👑🕊️🙏🏾

And yet the same media talked about how great a star he was when he died. For the first time probably since 1984 at the height of his fame, positive news about Michael Jackson became profitable and that's why the media switched gears on a dime. The moment it became lucrative to slander him they went straight back to it. Makes me think of his song Money and how these people sell their soul for money.

This is gonna be the hardest "MJ Year in review" to watch....it was my dream to see him in concert when I was younger and knowing I'll never get that breaks my heart...I was actually looking into buying a piece of his memorabilia just because he was my idol as a kid, Michael Jackson got me through some terrible things I went through as a child and I just wanna have a piece of him to hold on to...like some of his clothes, but omg what is available for public sale is already so expensive and it gets more and more expensive the longer he has been gone.

I was at the eye doctor with family when I saw the news that MJ was rushed to the hospital. When it was said that he died, the world stopped. His death is still shocking; the world truly mourned for him. Not even John Lennon or Freddie mercury came close to that level of grieving. It just goes to show you how valuable life really is. I was stunned but couldn't believe him since none of the news was covering it. 10 minutes after I got off the phone with him every single news outlet had picked up the story. I remember June 25, 2009 so well. Irony was, that morning I just happened to be watching old footage of him back in 1993. Then 6 or so hours later I get some grim news at the gym, some guys in the locker room were saying “Michael Jackson” and “cardiac arrest” in the same sentence.
At first I didn’t know what to believe or say because we’ve all heard a bunch of true AND false things regarding his health and his overall condition, but it wasn’t until I started driving home from the gym in my ol’ Pontiac (back when they were still in production) and heard “Billie Jean” on the radio… the news was starting to sink in on me like a huge waves of denial… “no, no, say it ain’t so, please let this be fake…”, but I knew deep down it was starting to become realer.
I parked in the driveway, walked inside my house, and my stepsister at the time looked distressed and was motioning me toward the TV screen on CNN: ‘Michael Jackson Dead At 50’. I don’t think I’ve ever watched CNN as much as I had in my entire life as I did in summer and fall 2009. It was a very long night and a long 2nd half of the year indeed.
Nobody took this news lightly especially myself. I too so badly wanted to finally see him perform live, I just wanted a mere chance to meet my musical hero for a few minutes and just tell him how much he meant to me as a fellow human being. I don’t think I would have been as happy, humble, nice, or positive if it weren’t for MJ’s demeanor. He really instilled into me that everyone deserves some love and kindness in life.
2009 may have been the end of Michael Jackson’s time on Planet Earth, but his legacy is still in full-flight beyond all the stars in the sky AND the moon.
No artist will ever come close or replicate him. No one can be as humble and stay positive like he would with his fans, friends, and family.
Well, I think I’ve said my piece. Everything is from my heart and soul. Just wanted to say once again, 15 years later, R.I.P. brotha. You meant the world to us- especially me. And I know you’d know that now you’re in God’s hands. And when we’d say how much we loved you, you’re up in heaven telling us all, “I love you MORE.” 🙏🏼 🌍 🎶 🎹 ✨ ✌️

The passing of Michael forever changed my life. As a kid, I watched his music videos but didn’t have a passion for music enough to listen to him (or any artist) often. After he passed, that completely changed. I was 9 years old and studying his dance moves, mimicking all his music videos, listening to all of his albums. The first album I ever owned was Michael Jackson Number Ones. Him alone sparked my entire passion and love for music, songwriting, and dancing that continues to this day. His story is the greatest lesson for each one of us, that regardless of any obstacles we come across in life, we can always have faith to do and be better. RIP king, I always pay my respects every year on June 25th.

The death of Michael Jackson completely changed my life. I was 9 years old and I was not aware of his presence, greatness and existence. All I knew was that his death was so global that everyone was talking about and my curiosity hit the highest limits. I researched this man, studied him, listened to his music, watched his dance, I became an instant fanatic. My biggest regret was not being brought up on Michael from when I was born but I’ve not wasted a second since the day he tragically died. I’m 24 now, and I’m still obsessed with the man, the myth, the legend.
    RIP Michael 🤍

I was working at the time when the news broke. The whole place came to a stand still. I had a ticket for his This is it concerts. Afterwards I had to go outside after my shift and shed a couple of tears.
That night, i walked all the way through London and could not believe how surreal it all was of what had happened. As I wondered through to central London, there were tributes to Michael Jackson everywhere you looked. I remember i stopped by in Trafalgar Square past midnight and there were pictures up of him and candles being lit from people everywhere you looked 😢. You seriously had to be there to believe it. The last 6 months of his lifetime. The day he died, I was going to St. Augustine Beach with my friends and staying at the beach and having a small cookout. My African friend texted me about his death and I didn’t believe it at first, so when I turned on my television. It was all over the news and my world stopped. I couldn’t believe it this really happened. We lost a huge legend whose legacy will forever live on. Most people today are still huge fans of him and know all of his dance moves. I can’t imagine how his family feels about his death, so I can hear them talk about him every single day. They all have a lot of memories of him in their living room. All he ever wanted in his whole life was to feel loved and accepted by everyone. He hated the media. I remember watching This IS It DVD on my dvd player watching him perform his songs on stage. Finally made it home from work. Re watched the last 4 minutes so I could properly sob/cry out cause I couldn’t do that on the bus. This stuff still affects me like it was yesterday. Still remember it. I was 13 years old, just graduated 8th grade. We were literally in London that May on a school graduation trip, ironically months before he was going to start This Is It there. Then I return to America. It’s a normal summer day and my younger brother exclaims ‘Michael Jackson just died! It’s on CNN’ as I come down the stairs at my house.
The world stopped for me. I couldn’t believe it. And then my world changed. Although I didn’t ‘live through’ Michael since his prime wasn’t in my generation, everything after in my life after 2009 became dedicated to Michael. Including my own wedding this summer, ironically I found out from this video was on July 8 (the day the tour was going to start in 2009). We slow danced to ‘Lady In My Life’ and my wedding party walked down the aisle to ‘Butterflies’.
Michael will always be part of me and part of my heart. I am honored to be his fan and feel a part of his world. As the little black girl fan said so perfectly in the video ‘it is like losing a member of the family’. We love and miss you forever, Michael.

_YES,_ @@user-ew4ul1vf9c. The media had done that throughout Michael’s whole entire “post-puberty” existence (from his later-teens on through middle-aged adulthood), just because most aspects of him _NEVER DID_ fit into outdated stereotypes of what the vast majority of people _think_ he was “supposed to” have been/“should” or “ought to” have been for someone of his age and birth-gender, at whatever stage of life he was in the course _of_ such an existence.
On top of their _already_ having gotten much of the public to view and perceive him in a negative light, the media also took false stories of ( _alleged_ ) “crimes” having been committed against fake so-called “victims” and ran with them -- amongst THE absolute _WORST_ things that had ever been done to him in his lifetime, not just once but _TWICE,_ within a decade or so -- stories that not only destroyed his career, and _attempted_ to have ruined and tarnished his reputation when he was alive, but also _VERY DEEPLY_ hurt his family ever since he passed* (*the _obvious_ case in point being that whole fiasco of “ _L.N._ ” with _Dan Reed,_ starring the two fake “victims” featured in his work of fiction that was any- and everything _BUT_ the “documentary” he _claimed_ it was....which, coincidentally, had premiéred long _after_ Michael’s death, at a time when Michael could no longer defend and speak up for himself, _due to his already having been DECEASED,_ so, family members, close friends, loved ones and others who _personally_ knew him well have had to speak up for him in his behalf).
These attempts at negative publicity, ever since Michael’s passing, have since occurred whenever there is an anniversary of _anything_ connected with him that comes up, especially if and when there is news of something positive about to take place, or news of something good that had just happened or is still going on, like the _Cirque du Soleil_ show, the _Broadway_ musical that opened recently, or news about the “bio-pic” that’s being made. But, in spite of this negative publicity, the truth is _FINALLY_ being told, once and for all.
