Huh. This is the first time that I'm kind of bummed that the guard stealth is skipped in rando. There are static rupees in there that should be randomized.
I did one of these with a friend recently and it was a lot of work for just two people, can't imagine how daunting it is with just one person. At least I could be cutting grass while he went and did something else productive
Not gonna lie, sometimes ZFG is blind as a bat, and other times he's like 50 steps ahead and in the blink of an eye plans a whole entire logic built route 😂😂. All in all ZFG is a genious, love that guy.
I got done with my first OoTMM Randomizer about 2 weeks ago (I started with fairly vanilla settings aside from having keysanity and scrubsanity enabled), it was alot of fun! Currently doing my second run now with potsanity and cowsanity also enabled for a slightly more difficult run now that I'm more familiar with the randomizer and it's checks!
basically allows the named thing to spawn. if you get a boss soul it means the boss is now in the game to beat, NPC soul means that NPC is now in the game to interact with. without the soul they basically don’t exist, so boss rooms will be empty, NPCs won’t be there, enemies won’t be around in the over world/dungeons. make sense?
It's also really important as a setting. You have to beat bosses to beat a dungeon, or beat certain minions in some places to cause chests to spawn and unlock doors to progress, and if those enemies don't exist because you don't have their souls unlocked, you can't progress through that area anymore just as if you were missing a major item. Plus in this case, Gold Skulltulas are a Soul, so that's like 100 checks you miss out on if you don't find that Soul. And regular NPCs allow you to do stuff like play minigames or give you side quests or run shops where you can buy stuff. Without their souls, you can no longer do any of those things till you find their souls. It's a really interesting setting
I'm usually not a huge fan of these kinds of seeds. The % of checks that require specific items goes down drastically, and that takes a lot of the interesting puzzle aspect out of these seeds and replaces it with a huge egg hunt. just feels monotonous imo. Does that mean I'm not gonna fall asleep to this vod? Nope.
