- Oct 31st 1980, Radio City Music Hall, New York, NY
The Grateful Dead had put down their acoustical instruments around 1970 ... only to bring them back up here in 1980. Initially, it was a 15 night stand at the Warfield Theatre, SF, Ca (Sept 25th to Oct 14th). Then into New York City (Radio City Music Hall) for an 8 night stand from October 22nd to this Oct 31st concert which closed the whole thing. (You can find official recordings on "Reckoning" and an official Vault DVD for parts of this show).
At the time, it was arguably "another" transitional period for the Dead. Many of "us" were still into the 1974-1978 mode and not yet onto par with the "Go To Heaven" LP songs like Shakedown, Don't Ease, Lost Sailor even Good Lovin' (!) ... In retrospect, this was a hot period too for the Dead. Great fun and new energy (Brent Mydland was just 1 ½ years into the band ...)
And the band keeps rollin' on !
Some of the uploads come from the TV Simulcast and others from the official video.

Boy I sure do miss Ol' Cap'n Trips and the good old Grateful Dead.... miss them so much.
Still here..
Well, for all the semi-normal folks out there, God love you, and God love the Dead. Heartfelt thanks to Lolo for posting this clip. I am grateful to have seen Jerry & Co. a handful of times back in the day. I look forward to seeing them again in a distant day, and place.
These Halloween shows in 1980 were so fuckin sweet I can't stand it⚡🌹
God, I MISS JERRY🎶
Just doesn’t get any better. Brents key tapping on the Ripple chorus. Jerry’s inflection and random bluegrass style riffs at the end. Audience clapping (actually with the timing vs most audiences that can’t even clap along) and of course Jerry’s grin at the end. 🙏🏻. Where’s my time machine?
Happy Birthay, Jerry! (~);} Let there be songs, to fill the air..
oh bobby, you look so much younger, i guess time makes wise men of us all ;)
All words have declared absolute freedom as this song removes itself all love that has or will be manifests then glows again

The ahit. Get thee to Marodni’s living room
Deirdre, waiting for your response. Complaining of my groping! Respond! What a great......
How did he make such great music when he was so confused that he may have committed bigamy which led to the entertaining post mortem fight between the two women?
+Maxundmoritz Hautala He was a musical genius whose talent was exceeded only by the kindness with which he shared that gift with all mankind. He was tormented by demons all his life and ultimately succumbed to those demons. Listen, you will hear his voice come through the music, let his legacy be these wonderful songs and not his personal struggles and failings.
They should get a hair cut and look for a job! (my mother used to say - LOL)
