  • In the gospel of John, Jesus says seven statements that have become known as the ‘I AM’ statements of Jesus. However, there is another ‘I AM’ that is not counted among these seven, but it is actually the most dramatic and explicit of these statements. It’s found in John 8 where at the end of a confrontation between Jesus and the Pharisees, Jesus tells them, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” In this video we will look to see what Jesus meant by this statement, what it reveals about His character as well as what it tells us about the gospel. That’s completely untrue. But mistranslations or Hebrew and Greek but a corrupted Catholic Church has tricked many people to believe God is liar and a man.

Well technically he is there. He's there as The Angel of God. Because that's what the son of god was befhe came to earth as a man. So I'll give that he's in the old testament. But it aint about him. Its about God and he (Jesus aint God brother.)

Absolutely not!!! Jesus was created. Being born through the vagina of a woman is not God.

      Before UA-cam was, I am.
This does not mean I am God. Jesus was better off saying, “before the earth was, I am.” Ego eimi is a common phrase in Ancient Greece.

In John 8:58 Jesus is not declaring himself to be God. Some believe Jesus is making an allusion to Exodus 3:14 where God says, “I AM THAT I AM,” according to the King James version. But Jesus did not say that. He used the Greek expression “ego eimi” (“I am”), which was a common expression and was used by several people in the Bible. For example, in John 9:9 the man who Jesus cured of blindness said “ego eimi”, affirming that he was the one cured by Jesus. In Acts 10:21, Peter used “ego eimi” to say, “I am the one you are looking for.” In John 8:58, Jesus is simply saying that he existed before Abraham. “Before Abraham was born, I am.” (The Greek does not capitalize "I AM" as if it were a title.) Other translations translate this verse to more proper English: “Before Abraham was born, I have been” or “I existed before Abraham was born.”

Before Abraham was what? Born, or appointed a Father to a multitude?
Before Abrahams was appointed a Father to a multitude, Abraham was taking his son to slaughter, then lied to issac as to who was being slaughtered..... God did not ask for the child, he asked for Abrahams alter ego, the one who made him laugh at God when told he would have a second child, it was his own understanding... Father of lies, pictured in his own mind a child sacrifice.... Jesus was Abrahams fruits, and he was glad to see the day!! And thats your understanding of a good Father!

The title but what your missing from your Bible is the name that he gave to Moses in the very next scripture. Your's says LORD. They removed his name and replaced it with that title. Shame on them for doing that. Who gave them the authority to make changes in the Bible?? NO ONE DID

    Amen
Jesus, in response to the Pharisees’ question “Who do you think you are?” said, “‘Your father Abraham rejoiced at the thought of seeing my day; he saw it and was glad.’ ‘You are not yet fifty years old,’ the Jews said to him, ‘and you have seen Abraham!’ ‘I tell you the truth,’ Jesus answered, ‘before Abraham was born, I am!’ At this, they picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus hid himself, slipping away from the temple grounds” (John 8:56-59). The violent response of the Jews to Jesus’ “I AM” statement indicates they clearly understood what He was declaring-that He was the eternal God incarnate. Jesus was equating Himself with the "I AM" title God gave Himself in Exodus 3:14.

Exodus 3:14 and John 8:58 does not express the same thought
We know that they do not because at Exodus 3:14 the Greek Septuagint Version (the translation that was often quoted by the apostles in the first century C.E.) reads, e•goʹ ei•miʹ ho Ohnʹ, “I am the Being.” This is quite different from the simple use of the words e•goʹ ei•miʹ (I am) at John 8:58. The verb ei•miʹ, at John 8:58, is evidently in the historical present, as Jesus was speaking about himself in relation to Abraham’s past. Numerous translators indicate this in their renderings. For example, An American Translation reads: “I existed before Abraham was born!”
Not once, however, does the Bible state that Jesus is coeternal with God. Though Jesus enjoyed a prehuman existence of unspecified length in heaven, the Bible shows that he had a beginning of existence. He is called “the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation” and “the beginning [Greek, arké] of God’s creation.”-Col. 1:15; Rev. 3:14. The very fact that Jesus is called the “Son of God” reveals that he was produced by the Father and is, therefore, his firstborn and only-begotten Son. Jesus himself said: “I live because of the Father.” (John 6:57) After having come into existence, the Son was used in creating everything. (John 1:1-3; Col. 1:15-17; Heb. 1:2) As firstborn Son, this one enjoyed a special intimacy with the Father. He is spoken of in Scripture as being “in the bosom position with the Father.”-John 1:18. At John 8:58, once again the King James Version has Jesus using the expression “I am” in connection with himself, saying, “Before Abraham was, I am.” But here the expression is quite different from the one used at Exodus 3:14. Jesus did not use it as a name or title but simply as a means of explaining his prehuman existence. Thus, according to the New World Translation, the more correct rendering of John 8:58 is: “Before Abraham came into existence, I have been.”
Clearly, no Scriptural basis exists for the claim that Jesus is the same as Jehovah of the Hebrew Scriptures. Even the teacher’s manual previously quoted admits: “That Christ existed before His birth in Bethlehem does not in itself prove He was God (He could have existed as an angel).” In fact, this is what the Bible teaches. In his prehuman existence, Jesus was “a god,” or divine one, but not the God, the almighty God Jehovah.-John 1:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:16. Plus Jesus would not have contradicted himself, Why did Jesus correct a certain man for calling Him “Good Teacher”? By thus refusing to accept this flattering title, Jesus directed glory to Jehovah and indicated that the true God is the source of all good things. Moreover, Jesus drew attention to the fundamental truth that the Creator of all things, Jehovah God, alone has the right to set the standards of good and bad.-Matt. 19:16, 17; Luke 18:18, 19
In several instances in the Greek Scriptures men are called “good”. Yet when a young man called Jesus “good” he was rebuked and was told that none was good but God. Why?-
The record tells of the rich young ruler who questioned Jesus: “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit everlasting life?” Jesus said to him: “Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.”-Mark 10:17, 18; Luke 18:18, 19, NW.

That doesn't even make sense. Before Abraham was I am. What does make sense is Before Abraham was, I have been. That's what it should say but then that wouldn't fit into their doctrine. Nooo!! He's got to say the great I am. And that I am stuff is NOT how it's to be translated. The correct way to translate it is To Be. Not I am.

All your interpretations suggesting that Jesus is portrayed as God based on many instances in the Bible, including on John 8:58 collapse when considering the subsequent verse (John 8:59), which recounts Jesus's act of fleeing to protect himself from being stoned by an angry mob. Such actions are inconsistent with the concept of an All-Powerful God, when fleeing like a frightened coward.
