BETTER AIRBAG SOLUTION: I did this car before and it was a pain in the butt trying to squeeze the airbag cover in and out and worrying about possibly damaging it. TODAY another SSR came in and I found an easier way to do it. First disconnect battery (I did at where the 2 cables meet under hood passenger side under red plastic cover). Remove 3 - 7mm screws at glove box hinge and remove glove box. Underneath where metal is you will see 2 - 1" holes inside remove 10mm bolt from each hole. Locate yellow airbag plug upper left side and disconnect. You will need to slide out the red locking clip from plug first. Slide out airbag and put in a safe spot. Proceed the remaining dis-assembly discussed in video. This makes for MUCH MUCH easier radio removal. WARNING: DO NOT RE-CONNECT BATTERY UNTIL THE AIRBAG IS PLUGGED BACK IN AND RE-BOLTED or you will trip the airbag dash light. Hope this helps anybody... Johnny Z.
+zsellsDOTcom I have heard of some people pulling the airbag but I always heard it described as an even bigger pain in the ass. What you describe though doesn't doesn't sound too bad so maybe next time I will try it. Thanks!
Awesome that you responded... lol Thank you for the video... I have to pull the harness... And your video allowed me to see the pit-falls and what to expect.... very valuable content Thank you..
Finding those vents is not easy and they can cost $35 ea normally used. I bought one but it is from some vendor in China...with shipping its $59 ! But I want to add that when installing the dash the air ducts can go miss aligned and so you might have to duct tape then vent extensions to the airbox from falling. Now that hold them but may be miss aligned from the dash vents to the funnels. You have to remove the vents which is not straight forward to do. Once you remove the vents you can align the vent extensions to the dash then push the dash in. I ground off all the airbag lips so mine slips in easily. The design is pretty lame as it could have been designed better.
Thank you so much for the air bag trick, you have no idea how grateful I am
Glad it helped!

No it's really easy once the 2 bolts are removed it easily slides right out.
Thanks Jim, i had the lip on the dash piece that goes around the airbag trimmed so now i can take it on and off with ease.
Thanks Jim, This info will help me install my Delphi SKYFi2 Satelite Radio.
Hi wich steering wheel controller have you been using?
Why would you put the dash all the way back together... Before testing?? To see if you still had the problem
It was a long time ago so I don't quite recall what I was thinking at the time. There was a good chance it was flawed thinking!
Awesome that you responded... lol

Many thanks!
Hi there, anyone know how to replace the right passenger dash vent? And where can I buy one. I appreciate the help.
Well normally the fins can come off, but you can "fix" them.

Thank you for your help .
You shouldn't have to trim the dash cover for the R airbag
I have heard of people doing it both ways.
I always tell people don't change out factory equipment the people who design the vehicle knows which equipment best for the vehicle
why mess up a good car dash over a radio not a wise decision

Sweet good luck with your install.
