nice job! i have a similar wall that I had to make closets against so I was exploring different door ideas. ours will be 4' wide and I thought the easiest thing to do would be a folding door to get the most possible access to the closets. just have to find the hardware I suppose. i thought of maybe using grooved panel board in lieu of mirrors as you did.
I don’t have any bargains per say, but I used smaller tracks and made them into one large track, which was much cheaper than buying a custom made track. To see how I did it, and the links to the tracks, you can watch this short video ua-cam.com/video/tSXh5TQAzQs/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!!!
Awesome video, explaining exactly what I want to do. But we’re exactly did you purchase the mirror. I am having trouble finding affordable mirrors. Thank you
This looks great-I'd really like to try it, as it's proven impossible to get doors to fit our existing space (currently with old bi-fold doors we'd really like to replace), and we can't afford to hire someone to make custom doors. How did you keep the 2x4's from warping, though? I've never seen any that were completely straight, or were good for much more than structural lumber within walls, where everything could support everything else. Did you find a source of straight, dry wood somewhere? Or did you dry them yourself first, then cut them in a certain way to assure they were straight?
Thanks! Yes this is definitely an issue. I went to a lumber yard and went through the stack to find the very best 2x4s. I’ve had them up for two years now without any problems.
Great project! I went to your website and could not find it. I have one question where did you purchase the closet track/rail system and which one is it?
Thanks, Cecilia! I have a quick video about how I modified shorter tracks into a continuous longer track. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/tSXh5TQAzQs/v-deo.html The actual tracks I used are liked in that video. Good luck with your build!
Great job definitely made the room pop & made use of the wasted space
Thanks for the nice comment!

I love this idea, thanks for posting! Do you have any bargains to share for the track system? The ones I've seen are quite pricey.

Thanks for watching! I got the mirrors from Home Depot. I believe the brand is Glacier Bay. Good luck with your build!
What did you use to make the closet compartments? Do you have a video for that?
I used 3/4 inch plywood. Unfortunately, I didn’t film that part. It was pretty simple though. Good luck with your project!
