- Before the exciting three-wide finish in 2024, Atlanta Motor Speedway had the same thing happened in 1997. While ARCA wasn't a NASCAR series at the time they are now which means it's also NASCAR history! Today, we will review the original three-wide finish and what led to it.

I'VE MADE IT! 🙏🏼 Appreciate the shout-out!
I was hoping Todd Gilliland was going to recreate this finish to a T, as he was also sponsored by Georgia Peanuts on Sunday!
Same here, since Todd had a great run all day Sunday, but I definitely think he should run a 1997 Harris DeVane throwback scheme at Darlington in May.
"Shot out of a CANYON!"
Gotta love Benny, greatest line in racing!
Between Todd Gilliland leading several laps in Harris' sponsor, Cindric's four-wide pass "out of a canyon" and Suarez winning, the race had a lot of ties to the 1997 ARCA finale.
Harris was with Todd that day.
The fact this is going mainstream brings tears to my eyes 🥹
11M views currently on X is just some amazing shit 💪🏻 i’m proud of my boys being the 2 most viral drivers ever and it’s finally something that can’t be banned ;)
Trackhouse Racing is NASCAR's Viral Organization
Kimmel, DeVan, and Hillenberg walked so the cup series could run over 25 years later
Boy the ARCA series was wild time in the 90s. You had the absolute wreckfest 1996 Atlanta finale, and this amazing finish in 1997. Ironic that Georgia Peanuts was on DeVane's car. We've seen plenty of two car photo finishes but 3 wide for the win simply seems unreal
I still want Stanton Barrett to make a start at Atlanta this year so he can be the first driver to run all 3 configurations
Cars 1 is official
Harris Devane ❤ RIP. My dad used to buy peanuts from him. Great guy and a great farmer
Its amazing how the cars finish was done TWICE at the same track
6:40 "... like he was shot out of a canyon!". Robbie Knievel didn't jump the Grand Canyon until 1999.
Well…I mean the og 3 wide finish was the first Daytona 500…but this story and footage is still great 👍
forgot to put in Atlanta lol.
SUAREZ! SUAREZ! SUAREZ!😂
For the Arca series this was Atlanta Superspeedway.
The new Keep Your Foot In It, AHH: THEIR THREE WIDE AT THE LINE, OHH
Edit: THEY’RE
"AAAAAAAAUUUUUHHHHGGHHHH!!!!!!" Darian 2024-
really good Google translation here TBH
Georgia Peanuts on that 33 machine. Almost had the 38 bring GP to victory here again last night, Gilliland was running up front pretty much all day.
Atlanta is just one of those places with some fun finishes.
Throwback to when ARCA wasn’t a Mickey Mouse series
dude jed gordon was the 1997 cup champion only to almost be forgotten but now unforgotten, he crashes a hamilton car before exiting pit lane, that's something austin dillon would almost do, and he's a truck series and an xfinity champion driver.
One of them Atlanta’s!
The ARCA finish saw two Fords battling one Chevy with one of the Fords. NASCAR's own version years later saw the other way around as two Chevys battling one with one Ford edging them out.
Chevrolet got their revenge! Full circle.
When They Were Kings !
Fantastic upload. Dang good racing from Atlanta.
This Finish predicted The 3 Wide Finish in the Cars Movie which predicted the 2024 Atlanta 3 Wide Finish
Man that shit was lit asf!!!!!! Me and my pops was like wild who got it. I knew not the middle car. Think Kyle it was
This was the race that came to my mind when that Cup finish happened.
So happy I wasn't the only one who thought that. ☺
I was actually thinking of Ron Bouchard at Talladega 1981
Atlanta Motor Speedway never disappoints with incredible close finishes.
6:38 HERE COMES HILLENBURG LIKE HE IS SHOT OUT OF A CANYON
Incredible race. I too was screaming and up off my seat fist pumping. What a ride start to finish.
Yep same Suárez won just two days before My birthday.
McQueen, Strip and Chick Hicks did it better.
My man was sideways on the apron and still won

Black Flags Matter for the win. I thought I was the only one talking about the 1997 ARCA finish after Sunday.
Nascar original tie (declared .001) was 2008 New England 100 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour at New Hampshire. Look it up.
Huh, I thought of myself that Mark Gibson was doing the television production for "The Price Is Right" but I was way wrong.
I'm sorry, but to me this is a million times better than Sundays finish. Just seems edgier, that late move by Devane to narrowly make that bottom 3 wide move work. I honestly feel like as hard as nascar now tries to manufacture close finishes, we should be getting finishes like last sunday pretty often. Sad they try so hard to recreate magic like this or darlington and others, and they usually always fail. I'm sure recency bias already has people putting last weekends finish above harvick/gordon and labonte/earnhardt, but they're wrong. It just hits better when it's not so manufactured.
Fans : byron , larson , KB , blaney will win this week race. easy peasy
A guy name suarez : hold my sombrero , my guitar mexicano , my pinata , and my el sonidito song ese
Ok I’m hoping someone can educate me. Cup series 3rd generation nascar’s can be seen racing in this 1997 event. I thought ‘94 was the last year for the 3rd generation body. Did they reuse these 3rd generation cars in Arca and other classes after the 4th generation debuted?
I remember that race i was 13....now im 40 now lol😅 im glad Harris won he came so close in 95 at Talladega he ran out of gas coming to the checkered Mike Wallace got him at the line that was my first ever Arca race i ever seen
Let's not understate the job Harris did holding on to a car that wanted to shoot up the track and take all three of them out. He was putting a lot of faith in those fresh tires. The booth was already saying that the car was handling too poorly to be a factor. They knew he had better tires and were still writing him off. That was some impressive racing for ANY era or series. And so was Sunday.
The most random reason I have heard my hometown being mentioned for, but Fort Wayne, Indiana is definitely random at times anyways!!
I really miss the old Atlanta, the 1960-1997 oval...
Really forget how hard those wall slaps were before SAFER barriers
In person people were jaws on the floor with nobody being able to speak correctly
Is it safe to say Atlanta Motor Speedway is the greatest racetrack ever?
That screamin part was the most absolute cringe
History would once again repeat itself in The 2024 Kentucky Derby with Mystik Dan getting the Win
Which would get outdone by the 2024 Advent Health 400 at Kansas where Kyle Larson edged out Chris Buescher by .001 One Day Later
Dude, Flagman, calm down!
What a nice video :)
I'm sorry but is this Super Truck Racing music in the background? Lol
HAHA yes it is!
@@BlackFlagsMatter thought I recognized it from somewhere! Actually a very underrated game. I played it again recently and was pleasantly surprised.
That OnBoard Camera Hit Sounded Like Someone Getting Slapped 😭😭😭
Truck 2005 was shockingly close to 4 wide, trucks old tries just couldnt keep themselves straight.
Andy Hillenburg.. jeez what a throwback for me cuz i grew up watchin him race as an Outlaw in sprint cars. He was a solid driver🤙🏁
Fun fact. Harris Devane is from near my neck of the woods in Cuthbert, GA.
Yeah! Hillenburg and the Hover #80. Fond memories.
Magic happens at Atlanta Motorspeedway, I swear!
Damn, Darian. You about to burst my ears.
6:38. He Shot out of a Canyon. Good ole Benny.
The 3 wide on Sunday was much closer
I like this finish even more lol
bro had to call up OG
Wow.
Dude!!!! Stop screaming
