Nice collection you have btw❤. I love small and compact plants esp. orchids😊❤.
Cheers! I'm beginning to see the benefits...especially when the blooms are so big.
That looks perfect Geoff, it is much safer for me to be able to see the root system in a clear pot with moss you can gauge much better whether or not to water. They are tough little things. I tend to keep the species in the cool house and that goes down to 8C no problem. The bulk of them I keep Intermediate but the ones being cultivated are currently down the warm end. I have also managed to get hold of a couple of new variety seedlings from a Guy in the UK one has a red/white flower and not yet confirmed what the 2nd one is. Trouble is now I use twice as many pots as I then put the clear pot in a black pot. After Christmas I will start thinking about re-potting my ones that are still in their original media. There is a lady at our Society who grows purely in sphagnum moss and she has good results too. She grows them in a conservatory as well. Sulawesiense if one of my absolute favourite Dendrobium flowers it is gorgeous.
Excellent! I just hope it didn't notice too much...🤣 I might try the new one in the warm side like yours - they're so small they're easy to fit just about anywhere - but the blooms are punching way above their weight. I hope you get a few subs too from this one. 😬
Thanks I was just going to say thanks for the plug then YT froze mid typing and I had to bale out turn off and turn on again and low and behold it took the post. I like Michael’s link about them too it is so hard to find information on them. If you ever see it there is a nice Hybrid, I bought it from Akerne Orchids, Dendrobium Illusion, cross between cuthbertsonii and lawesii, Michael was also referring to that cross, flowers are gorgeous as well.
@@lynnsmith9397 I'll definitely keep that in mind although it looks like buying from Europe will soon a thing of the past, sadly.
Neither of us are going mad then because while I filmed that video in the warm side, that was where the room was to spread them out. None of them kept there though apart from the babies that were in the propagator. Now it all makes sense. 😎
That looked like a nice rootsystem, not a deeprooter judging by the length of them. Next season i will try some in pots, some on mounts maybe 🤔
You forgot the stunning foliage 🤣🤣 but yeah they tick all the boxes 🙈🤣🤣🤣
No quite shallow rooted. Mostly alive for once which makes nice change. Fingers crossed for it as I might try the new on in the warm side - seeing as Lynn Smith has hers there without many issues. :)
Yeah its bit of a trial and error thing. If someone els can grow them, we should be able to grow them too 😁
Geoff, I'm wondering how this Dendrobium Cuthbertsonii is getting on. I bought 2 species plants in April and they haven't done very well. I have repotted using similar media.
I had about 5 plants going into last winter - only 1 made it through! My particular issue was mites on the leaves - although I didn't know it till I bought a botanists hand lens. The one plant that was still struggling on was sprayed with a systemic - and then almost immediately it began to recover and is now growing strongly and in full bloom.
@@Grow_Up_Man55 I've ordered a hand lens. Pleased plant recovered and doing well
I seen your youtube channel and decided to sub to your channel to show support and love keep coming with the videos hope we become friends 👍
