You win this is indeed the worst
All your content is just you bitching about stuff. Who wants to watch this shit?
Lil info from a German: This instrument was originally used by fire fighters to warn the people to make place so they could arrive as fast as possible. Nowadays it‘s oc a bit different or electric
Cool!!
Right? That's why some still call emergency services' sirens "Martinshorn", I guess
@@Leo1239150 Exactly
It would certainly get my attention.
@@theclarionhall4755 it really does! Firefighters, ambulances and the police uses it, always with the for Germany typical fourth
It’s like if someone perfected the sound of a toy saxophone
yo black armory
It's like if a clarinet, oboe, and saxophone spliced their genes together, then their child had sex with a trumpet.
@@literalantifaterrorist4673 r/oddlyspecific.
man, the vaulting of black armory really threw a wrench in the works huh
Yo there's a destiny gun and the Drifter in these comments
That time an oboe, a trumpet, and a bagpipe became a thruple and no one knows who's the daddy
I'm so happy you called it "a bagpipe" and not "bagpipes".
The oboe is the ugliest and worst sounding instrument I’ve ever seen and heard.
@@luisforeal8676 I played oboe and 2 things really affect the sound of an oboe.
The first is the reed. A bad or cheap reed will not sound great. A good reed makes a world of difference.
The second is the acoustics of the room you are playing in. A room where the sound falls flat or say you are outside where the sound just escapes it will not sound good. A room where the sound can fill it and echo a bit it will sound amazing. Again this makes a world of difference.
😂
@Wallace1p i want to study you in a lab
When a mommy saxophone and a daddy trumpet love each other very much…
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
"These have reeds in them" audibly gasped, this is bagpipe tech
yep, but without the polyphony, culture, and staggering charisma to make it peform!
@Gary Allen you have to have absolutely pendulous balls to wear a kilt carrying a bagpipe.
And an amazing amount of skill.
@Gary Allen “guy pissing himself in rage from bagpipes” was meant to be an example of how passionate anger isn’t always rational. “Some that are mad if they behold a cat” is another example lol
I’d make it sound nice… where can I get one?
This is bagpipe tech is my new band name
Looks like Dr. Seuss invented it.
Fr
In truth, it invented him
My first thought when seeing it!
Came down here to say this! Def looks like what the Whos down in Whoville would play on Christmas morning
👍👍🙌🙌
This looks like the second form of an anime about fighting instruments.
A loli waifu would have it at her back as her mechanic wings and would be blasting magic melodies
@@olgagaming5544 I was thinking some Aoi Todo looking dude wielding a giant set like a hunting horn from monster hunter
Ban KAI?
Look up elden ring envoy's horn
I would like to propose calling this a Gatling horn
That’s the kinda instruments they play in the dr Seuss books
It's a hybrid of the womzoonka and domboonka.
It also looks a bit like the instruments played by the Hogwarts Brass Band
Like a Sousaphone the marching band tubas but that’s actually what it’s called
I was expecting it to sound worse tbh... this might be haram, but I kind of want to hear some more.
same
"haram" 😂
@@rum5587 i'm not even religious, but i think this thing is unholy
"This might be haram, but..."
Hahahaha. I'm going to steal that one from you and not give you any credit for it.
bro said haram 💀
It's like if you called up a tin can manufacture and asked them to make a saxophone but the guy on the other end of the line had never seen a saxophone in his life.
That's where I left my weird steampunk multiple blunderbuss!
Bassoon from Wish:
I had seen this one on your wall and have always been anticipating a video on it.
He already made a full video about it, a while back.
Be nice to the poor little horn. It's not bad, just different 😋
It looks like a saxophone crossed with a revolver
I've seen this. Of course in my childhood...in germany.. edited:...now that you play it. It came back...the purpose wasn't for music. It was like to gather the crowds' attention. It's not awful itxs German. It's LITERALLY doing it's purpose.
"es ist nicht schrecklich, es ist deutsch. es macht Buchstäblich wofür es erfunden wurde"
I will quote this in my day to day live from now on, thanks
"it's not awful, it's German"
In that case, why make 8 bells where only one can sound at a time? Lots more weight for the player to carry, but with the loudness of only one bell.
@@rosiefay7283 Because if it was only going „beep beep beep“ nobody will take it serious. What do the firefighters sound in your country? The police? Air raid warning? The video was an awful explanation for this instrument😏
@@rosiefay7283 you could use it to make multiple signals with one instrument. For example you could say A high tone, a low ton and a low tone would be for a fire or three low tones would be for flooding etc, so people know whats Happening and react accordingly. I'm not sure about other countries, but we still use different Signals in Germany for warning (usually a sequence for three tones) and lifting the previous warning (usually one long tone)
All the elden ring players know what this looks like
Envoy's large horn go brrr
Doot doot indeed
Yooooo envoy hopping in to say YES
Silliest enemy in the game
Best weapon hands down
The definition of a gentleman is someone who knows how to play the Martin’s trumpet, but doesn’t.
Greetings from Germany: Those things sound glorious when you blast like 20 or them at the same time! What the individual Schalmei lacks it makes up in numbers!
The schalmei band on UA-cam would indicate otherwise.
Deku scrubs called, they want their pipes back
I searched for someone to have made this comment, thank you lol
Damn, ya beat me to it!
I wish the deku pipes really were a functional an good sounding real instrument
Literally the instrument deku link uses is Majora's mask
I've got the goggles on again haven't I?
That doesn't sound so bad. I imagine cleaning it is the real nightmare
I could see that sound in a trap beat 😂
That I want to hear! Any value volunteers to mix this for us?
You can SEE SOUND???
I see it in CBat now thanks
This has to be the inspiration for the Envoy weapons in Elden Ring
literally
"no way these bubbles are gonna hit me, literally the easiest enemy in the game"
"Fuck"
Oh my god that sound is like if a kazoo was a wind instrument
actually a kazoo is a wind instrument,(i know it has a Membrane)
Recorders: “finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be terrible”
This instrument is straight out of a cartoon series. It’s like if someone combined a trumpet with a pipe organ, but it sounded like a saxophone.
and you have to know calculus to play it
Sounds awesome actually.
I LOVE videos like this. I love learning about weird instruments.
I wonder how many lives were saved by that funky horn?❤
Perfect for playing mi gente
…
@@Wolfee-zn5ry holy shit y’all have the same profile picture
I occasionally see one for sale...I was toying around with the idea of obtaining one just for the weirdness factor!
Not to be confused with the historical instrument Schalmei. The Schalmei is a historical double reed instrument made from wood, it was replaced by the oboe and nowadays is still played in folk music.
This
That just makes me like the instrument even more
Majora's Mask
Ooooooh....
This instrument looks like a prop straight out of a Harry Potter movie 😂
I like it. The sound is a weird combination of bassoon, saxophone, and trumpet.
Nah the worst instrument is the teachers pet’s vocal cords
This gives me antique car horn vibes
Because it pretty much is one and not really an Instrument
As a German I have never Seen this before.
They may have been used more in East Germany.
Somebody gon sample that and turn it into the next banger
Somewhere a TF2 Pyro is missing his weapon.
just bought one :3
where? I want one
@@isaakhatcher ebay, but I'm from Germany. XD I actually know this thing from my childhood its still played on carneval sometimes.
how do you spell the name
@@fliegerdefunes7758 how do you spell the name
@@myersbob7517 schalmai or schalmei mostly or martins trompete
Reminded me of the deku horns you play in majoras mask! Any Zelda fans out here???
You're not wrong! I never noticed that before! I think they make ones with more bells and valves, so maybe you could play Deku Palace on it?
All old-timey cartoons and B&W comedies need this sound!😅✌🏼
Before my brain parsed the title and the background, I thought this was some weird ancient firearm.
Nothing awful, sounds cool!!!
I hear that sound in a lot of “They Might be Giants” songs! 😁👍 so of course, I like it!
in railway construction there's also the very similarly but simpler built "mehrklangsignalhorn", used to warn workers from approaching trains.
it has 2*2 bells and one valve that allows you to play 2 different and a mixed tone.
Questo filmato è stato interamente ripreso e riproposto in "Super Quark Musica" (2018), nella puntata dedicata alle ance, quindi è come se ci fosse stato 2 volte da Piero!
“Relatively popular in Germany…”
Ehm… maybe in some areas? I am from Germany and I have never seen one so far, let alone heard of it.
You have to turn your head to where the sun rises, lol.
less talking and more playing 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Hes just explaining how it works, i enjoyed his commentary
@@evert3971 shorts aren't for commentaries, they're for entertainment. a human's brain scrolls through the internet hoping to feed satisfaction of not being bored.
@@thething6936 idk i found it fairly entertaining to find out about an instrument ive never heard of
@@bonnibloop_ I'm not arguing to what individuals find entertaining, I mean we are all different. not everyone will have interests on what the instrument is described to sound like. a random person (shorts aren't really selective on their audiences if I'm not mistaken), not knowing a lot about instruments, comes across a short like this would definitely be interested in the sound after given a thesis on it.
@@thething6936 if you don’t like it then just skip
The short
Looks like something straight out of a Dr. Seuss book
That shape just makes my brain go "musical minigun"
That noise would go so hard on a trap beat or something lol
Bet
Me: it can't be that bad.
Him: plays it
Me: BURN IT
If I ever need to hulk smash something, I'll just get a chorus of these going. I have sensory issues so my hearing works differently to others, which is probably why my reaction has been so strong, but the rage that flows through me when I hear this sound has given me a power the likes of which I have not felt before.
I'm honestly impressed somebody managed to overengineer a trumpet
And combine it with a saxophone lol
Fun fact from a german: We still call the sirens of our fire trucks 'Martinshorn' (martin's trumpet) bc that's what it was used for originally.
Wooow ♪ \(^ω^\ )
The whole time I was just waiting to hear what made it so awful. I'm still waiting, actually.
Found its Wiki article. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martinshorn
Each bell has a free reed. This means that:
* there is no overblowing; each bell produces only one pitch
* altering your embouchure is to no avail; each bell produces its sound at only one volume
"Giles, prepare my gatling-maphone"
ah.. the car horn of instruments
" this instrument is from Germany but it is absolutely awful everywhere" 🤣
It looks like a steampunk concept for a semi-automatic blunderbuss.
“8 different size bells that confus-…”
I was never so close to sending threats on the internet.
These are what the Oracle Envoys use in Elden Ring.
Relatively popular as in never heard of it nor seen it. Martin's horn is usually the siren on emergency service vehicles.
Sounded like your average asmr “driving in traffic”
Oh my god I need to have one immediately
It sounds like a good comedic sound effect. Kinda cute !
As a German, I've never seen a Schalmei / Martinshorn used as an instrument, only ever to catch a crowd's attention or as a siren on very old fire trucks - nowadays those sirens are of course electric but are still called "Martinshorn".
This isn't a schalmei. This is the Martin's horn. It's rarely used as instrument but as a warning device.
When your fire fighters couldn't afford a fire bell they got this thing.
My first thought was the world's most inconvenient musket
That’s some Dr Seuss looking instrument right there
That looks like an instrument from a Dr Seuss book
I've looked through the comments and am displeased at what I have NOT seen...
Rainblower
Nah, this is a flamethrower as seen through pyrovision (tf2)
Right after I heard the first note, I expected the rest to be Axel F by Crazy Frog. Lmao.
This is a good commercial. Now I want one.
It's like a discarded Dr Seuss idea
I thought that was a weird musket for a second.
Sounds like the nightmare between a bagpipe and a saxophone.
I think one of these was in a Harry Potter scene and I just assumed it was some whimsical, fictional instrument from the wizarding world.
instrument? that’s obviously a homemade weapon from madmax
It almost feels like the creator looked at a stack of blunderbusses and went mmm yeah I can make that make some funky honks 😂
Sounds like a 50s mystery movie and a p.i. is meeting a shady man in a dark alley both in trench coats and hats to keep the light drizzle off to discuss a murdered woman found in a rich actors bed hahaha
They were originally made as multi-tone vehicle horns.
Looks like the flamethrower when you have the pyrovision goggles on in tf2
"an awful instrument".... You know there's at least 1 guy out there who loves these things and is yelling at the screen
i was expecting you to say how cool of an instrument that was and then you said “this is an absolutely awful, disgusting instrument” 😭😭
That looks like the weapon the dudes shoot bubbles from in Elden Ring.
I would love to see someone play megalovania on this thing. It sounds perfect for it.
so I'm a saxophone player and that Dr Seuss looking monstrosity sounds like a beginning sax lesson.
Kid: Mom, I want a saxophone!
Mom: we have a saxophone at home!
Saxophone at home:
This thing looks like you tried to make a Gatling gun with blunderbuss barrels.
I was so ready to be like "no this is cool!" and then you told me that you could only play one bell at a time... and they have reeds in them...
