The Iris Caddis is a caddis emerger pattern developed by Craig Mathews of Blue Ribbon Flies. The Iris Caddis is best fished as the caddis pupa are emerging. Usually in early morning or late evening. I have had great success on the Madison River just before sunset on this pattern. Especially on fish that are very picky and not rising to adult dries. The Iris Caddis can be tied in several color combinations, such as Tan, Olive and Amber. The pattern is best tied in #14-18, but can be tied larger in different areas. This is one caddis emerger you must have in your box!!
