    My genesis wines are two Itaians:
    1. A glass of Nero d'Avola that I had at a cafe in Rome after getting soaked in the rain
    2. A 2016 bottle of "Legit" Cabernet Sauvignon from Tuscany

    I don't know the exact bottle it was but the first time a wine really got me was when I had a fancy sauternes for Xmas. To this day nothing beats sauternes to me

    I've always had a real soft spot for good champagne since my first sip as a kid but i was never really into wine or alcohol in general until i tried a Mother rock liquid skin and it opened my world to how wine isn't all supermarket crap, but my true genesis wine was a bottle of Concerto di Venezia 2019 by jean Pierre Robinot, it was the first red I'd ever bought myself, i opened it on Christmas day shared it with my parents and it blew my wig off it was pure juice, they almost choked when i told them the price, i knew i could never look at supermarket slosh again after drinking something that someone put actual love and passion into making and i think I'm going to open my other bottle of it this Christmas. Great video boys

    I got into wine because my grandparents had a bottle of sweet muscadine wine in their house, but left it behind after granddad died and grandmother had to move out. It was a locally made (North Carolina, USA) wine, and I shared it with my friends and found out that wine is my favorite form of alcohol. Since then, I've gotten a subscription service where I can buy wines that I want to try, and have fallen in love with riesling and shiraz.

    My first epiphany wine was a Francois La Pierre Chablis. The wine isn't outstanding, but at the time I was reading a book about different grapes and regions and this was the first wine that I smelled and had my brain go "Oh, that's a green Apple. And pear".
    Also, I recently picked up a bottle of La Grand Dame 2012. Going to be my first time trying it and super excited but I'm saving it for Feb 2024 when I graduate from my Masters program.

      Oh now that's an awesome one! It's pretty amazing when you can start finding 'other' flavours in wine for the first time, it opens up possibilities in other realms too - coffee, chocolate, tea etc! Good luck on the Masters!!!

    Not what got me into wine outright, but the wine that made me go "Oh shit, I get it now" for Champagne was Krug 2004. Got to taste it as part of a distributor tasting at my work and I was smitten

    For me, it was a Pinot Noir from By Farr (from the Farrside vineyard site). It had complexity that I'd never experienced, and it blew me away. It was made more special because it was at Attica for a special occasion with friends. I never intended to enjoy wine this much but here I am. Keep up the good work.

    henry's commentary cracks me up 😂 the old fat unicorn pinot noir got me into red wine but my epiphany wine is the notte rossa primivito salento, the 2019 vintage in particular. blew my mind with how intense yet enjoyable wine can be

    I think I was into red wine even before tasting red wine but for a long time (like 10+ years into drinking) I never liked white wine until I got a white Burgundy as a gift. I remember being dissapointed seing it was a white Burgundy and not a red one but once I opened and tasted it the revelation changed my view on white wine forever. Sadly I do not remember the producer or anything.

    • @wineforthepeople
      @wineforthepeople Рік тому +1

      That's pretty interesting in itself though - much of the global perception of 'wine' is 'red' - we're visual creatures after all - which means greater value is often found (generally speaking) in white wines!

    The wine that got me into GOOD wine was a Chilean carmenere many years ago at a restaurant I worked at. To this day I'm still chasing a carmenere as delicious as that was

    Watching from Belgium! Strange to hear your prices ven with the exchange rate. Do you have crazy taxes on wine? Everything else is A+ boys

    • @wineforthepeople
      @wineforthepeople Рік тому +1

      the tax rates on alcohol in aus are pretty high im general, we generally pay around 40 euros for a half decent case of beer - plus any imported wines tend to attract a higher price than the equivalent locally produced product

    I was wondering if you guys could maybe add a graphic or some text indicating what the person guessed the wine was, because sometimes it’s a bit confusing. For example I thought Brendan guessed CabFrank but later he said it was CabSav during the discussion.
