You know he's legit because he's leaving a pile of garbage on the ground for someone else to pick up. The mark of a true lineman.
It’s true lol
I mean it’s not a lie lol
Facts
That's just job security for the man on the ground 😄
LOL
Bro I've been working underground two years and I ain't never seen this. Amazing tip thank you!
Boys I made to to OH 👏👏👏
I’ve become real fond of my propane torch for skinning Polly insulation!!!
Great trick! I always wondered about the right way to do this.
Glad it was helpful!
The first part is easy. The second part is like when you’re trying to learn a knew knot and my mind cannot comprehend lol
CMSGT Huffman taught me the same trick back in 1994 and like you said it works great.
this dude is Master badass
A great , short how to!
thank you, haven't met a master electrician yet that does this properly.
@@harrisonshroyer6828 if I’m wiring nutting #10 or smaller, I’ll strip roughly 1.5” and twist with linemans then snip off the right length for wirenut and typically it’s the prettiest twists that are left also.
#8 and up to 500 mcm I typically have to base it off of how much is needed for a Polaris tap or some enclosed termination point. Lmao love to see him do this when under 2” is needed for terminating. He’s still a bad ass at stripping fucking wire though!
@@Hohmies86you got that right
Is my new Milwaukee hawksbill dull, does this texhnique not work on thhn copper, or am i doing it wrong? What type of insulator does that wire have?
Your knife should work on copper, it just depends on the insulation on the wire as to how easy or difficult it is to strip. The wire in the video is your most common overhead service wire to a house.
Thanks for this video
How do you sharpen that knife ?
How do you dull a knife?
Your cutting plastic and nicking aluminum, if your knife gets too dull to do that, from doing just that, give mom her paring knife back and just buy a cheap knife from a truck stop.
At least it won’t get dull from cutting plastic against aluminum.
@@jaxturner7288 >Hahahahaha! I've been using a Klein skinning knife (maroon handle) for almost 30 years (the same knife), and hardly ever touch it up! Yep, aluminum (sometimes CU) & plastic!
Belt knife sharpener works great
Not completely relevant to the video, but I’ve got some big wire with 5 big wires inside. Was stripping it for scrap metal, but I was quickly covered with what appeared to be fiber glass - is that probably what that stuff is? It won’t get out of my clothes or hands even though I was wearing ppe. Any advice appreciated!
Most likely some old wire I've seen has a fiber like coating beneath the outer jacket
Nice.
I just put my foot on the end and razor peel the jacket. Peeling the whole thing is just ripping it off, then you go down to the scrap yard and collect bare bright money.
Where you get that knife from?
Klein makes a good hawk bill for electrical work.
Looks like a Buckingham specifically
allahu bless you care and health for work I am Indian Lineman Navas
🇺🇸👍🤓 Merica
😎🆒️😎
Jl : now, do it on a 750.

wtf he keep looking at, like he is doing something that he shouldn't be
There are other students standing out there with him, he’s showing them and doing the video at the same time
Now do it in the middle of winter on some 500 plastic jacketed entry cable and I’ll be a believer
Impact is way to go. 🥰
