Back in the early 70's, I was stationed at Campion Air Force Station, Alaska. In addition to being an intercept control station, we were also a weather station, hence the veracity of the temperatures. The coldest ambient air temperature during my year there was -69f, and the coldest wind chill was -95f. If you played frisbee outside (we were young and stupid, so we'd do that), the frisbee would freeze and crack in less than 2 minutes. But at that temperature, 2 minutes was all you could handle, even dressed in full arctic survival gear.
I m a new member I love your videos I'm from maine love moose head I went on my last trip up their with my father inlaw last September he died of cancer october 8th he just wanted a brook trout from lily bay we stayed a week it was the time of my life with him I'm glad I got to go on his last fishen trip with him our last memories were awsome memories of fishen day we cout hole buch of salmon no brook trout but we had a blast I'm miss u ken mann
Haven't made it to the end of the video yet, but it's funny most Mainers know when you walk outside and the snow is squeaking it's 0 or delow, even before the chill hits ya.
You guys are awesome. Set backs like that are pot holes in the road of life. You don't need them ,but they are there. You will overcome, stay positive and enjoy the adventure. God bless and stay safe. 😊
Bro you are a different breed! I fished in -20 temps real feel -50 with wind for a week on devils lake North Dakota and I was not able to touch my augur for more then a few seconds without gloves after it sat outside lol. On top of that your cruising around without gloves! You’re a beast.
Nice job on playing it safe. I'd choose the same thing.. I like going to the far NE side of moosehead for fly and then Rockwood for ice. I love brookies over most fish. Eating and beauty for me. Nice catch Joe! The trip is going ok so far... Ish
I KNEW there'd be a good one in there. The brookies will always show up eventually. If there's habitat and food they've been there and they'll be back. Nice work friend.
I’m stuck in Texas this winter for my tech school for the Air National Guard and I’m missing Maine Winters! Your fishing videos are keeping me sane! Thanks for the awesome content.
i dont normally watch this type of content but i love this guy, like he is so smiley and happy and like seems full of hope. like you make something that i dont normally care about really interesting and want to stay but man you got a personality on you so great job ( not good at this but i mean it in the nicest way possible)
You had a few rough couple of days but that brookie was worth it! Hitting up Wyman tomorrow for some salmon. Haven't made it to Moosehead yet this year. Tight lines man!
Love the videos. Just a suggestion but if your going out for that long of a period of time. Wouldn’t a hot tent wood stove work better .A. You would would eliminate moisture. B. No worries about running out of propane. C. You would be warmer and you could still cook on it. I think it would be a safer for you .👍
I’m considering it. Or at least having it as an option. I hate to bring more stuff than I already do like a wood stove , stove pipe, brackets, and piles of dry wood and wood to keep dry for an extended trip. But it does seem like it will be dryer and warmer if desired.
I have spent many of days at spencer bay excellent fishing during the summer can’t wait to see you catch a 5 plus pound brookie it’s a fantastic feeling high five 🍻
Just found your channel and love the videos. The shot hand feeding the Gorbys brought a long lasting smile. My family owned a camp in Spencer Bay. Great memories.. Thanks !
Love your videos , reminds me of working with the Arctic response group in northern Canada . Sleeping in a ice garage from clam with my tow rig . Keep the videos up

Hey joe my names Luke I’m kinda new to ice fishing I love your videos i’ve been fishing a lot this winter and ur videos are very helpful and entertaining I’ve had two pairs of strike master striker ice bibs brand new I’m a bigger guy after I give them away for a year nobody has one of them and they are three XL very nice saying that you’re a bigger guy like myself it’s just wondering if that something you’d be interested in I live in the Bath Brunswick area
Thank you, I didn’t set episode 5 as a premier just scheduled it for tomorrow , I didn’t get a lot of great content for that one, it’s pretty slack happens sometimes I guess, will be a short episode. Thanks again
Bro.. I stayed in my 8x8 insulated hub for two days in -15 weather in MN. My biggest issue was the condensation inside my hub. Do you do anything to combat that problem?
For sure, I warmed it up for about ten minutes prior but edited that out so it wouldnt be boring. It stalled when I was shaking it and restarted a little funny. I grew up on a farm and we greased, checked oil, and warmed everything up daily. You sir are 100% correct though, All needs the warm up I should let others know that too. thanks.

So you can run 5 lines per person in Maine? It’s only 3 in wisconsin
Correct , general law allows five , we have some special waters where it’s restricted to two.
another good one like usual!
Joe, I really enjoy your videos and I have a question, how the hell do you not wear gloves? Do you have antifreeze in your blood?
Hahaha just lucky so far

Bro.. I stayed in my 8x8 insulated hub for two days in -15 weather in MN. My biggest issue was the condensation inside my hub. Do you do anything to combat that problem?
I just keep the heat super low and rarely get any condensation, Any I get just freezes. It will warm up soon though and I will let you know if i do.
That’s a lot of damage
true
Whatboots do you have
LL Bean Game Warden boots and Lacrosse Rubber.
What kind of back up/emergency heat do you have out there?
No back up emergency heat. If the heater fails it’s go time or bundle up time.
Man let that machine warm up ur gonna blow it up or min burn the belt and clutch
