This technology in 10 years or less is gonna change the world forever. Imagine a super realistic, Star Wars universe where you get to do and be whatever and whoever you want!!
The footage for this looks pretty janky. The torch looked like it had tracking markers on it but appeared completely static in the footage. Guessing the footage they actually showed was just on PC to demonstrate the graphics? Would've been nice to see the actual player's view.
Tried this before and it is SURREAL as a Malaysian it costs about 129 ringgit which is hella expensive. The thing itself is very short about 30 minutes (this was the star wars one) and tbh it really isn't worth it's price. Maybe in a couple of years when the price gone down go ahead and try it!
I like how instead of saying where it is, he says it's "here", and proceeds to give a general area, half an hour from salt lake city. Nice, easy to find
@Daniel Rieger: Yes, they don't mention the exact location of The Void's HQ. It's in *Lindon, Utah*, near Pleasant Grove. Address: *644 N 2000 W, Lindon, UT 84042, USA* Map: www.thevoid.com/locations/lindon
Omg I'm so freaking excited to do this at Disney Springs. I haven't don't any type of VR what so ever. So I'm so happy I'm going to be able to do this for my first VR experience.
I want a suit that can give you the illusion of weight and apply force to your joints to make it feel like you can actually pick stuff up. I want a suit and gloves that can give you the illusion of water and textures and objects touching you. I want it to be able to make you feel wind or fire. I want a suspension sistem to allow you to move around and jump. I want a high def headset that is both light and comfortable. I want 3D sound and headphones that cover your entire ear and can play more sound than we can even hear. I want a base that can move around and give the feeling of uneven ground or diffrent serfaves, and make it so you can walk around. But.... you don’t always get what you want. ):
Thanks, I was wondering how a video like this could have dislikes, now I understand. I'm looking forward to that part of the video now, youtube celebrities deserve to be mocked, and Pew is the king of that dungheap. Also glad to see all this triggering going on.
i used to dream about this kind of stuff thinking what if maybe someday in the far future this would be possible. if you look past all the bullshit that humans are the tech we have developed is truly amazing!
there is already a glove that makes you feel vr coming soon so u wont need all of this its all ina glove so i think the glove wins cuz its much much much much smaller
It's like an inversion of augmented reality. Virtual Reality: Straight virtual experience, no interaction with the real world Augmented Reality: Digital interfaces enhancing the physical world around you (that you can still see) Hyper Reality: Physical world (that you don't see) enhancing the virtual world (that you do see)
despite me loving this channel for its good content, i can't support someone who manipulates news to push their own agenda and, as a consequence, bury the work of hundreds (not just pewdiepie, but the people that were involved in the development of his show) for some overreaction to be seen as someone is above the standard morality. bye
Seriously i was subbed to WIRED and love it growing up.... sad you guys let this awful, pathetic attempt at slandering PewDiePie article run. I know this video is unrelated but had to thumb it down. Please delete that terrible article about Felix.
We did the Star Wars Secrets of the Universe May '18. My husband has his right arm amputated below the elbow. We were curious as to how the computer would interpret this altered body image. He did have his (virtual) right hand but every few minutes it would "detach" and float in front of him. We both loved The Void experience! BTW he's 67 and I'm 61. #young@heart
I remember placing a couch in the same place in rec room as it was in real life, then sitting down on it. It's pretty cool to do that, and I can't imagine what this might be like.
I'm rather skeptical of their tracking tech here. The big white dots can't be very accurate on a micro-scale. The Rift uses small points of IR light which is more effective, although the Vive's Lighthouse tech still works best. The first person video shown here looks rather jerky, so that leads me to believe that it isn't as good at giving an immersive tracked presence as Lighthouse or even Constellation can provide.
Vive wouldn't really be possible with how it is right now. Currently, the Vive only works with 2 lighthouses, which could not possibly cover an area like they have here. It's too big and there would be way too much occlusion. Valve has stated it could be possible to update the software to support an arbitrary amount of lighthouses in the future, but for the time being we can only use 2. Even still this would likely need custom software to switch between lighthouses as you moved through the facility.
at this point, they should stop claiming to be "utah-based" since they are actively refusing to open the facility in utah. I would honestly respect them a lot more if they would just come out and say "after partnering with disney, we are moving our corporate headquarters to california, and we will be ceasing operation of our previous facility in lindon."
I did the Star Wars scenario and it was a lot of fun. Highly recommend it. At the same time WHAT the heck is that stain on the chair at 0:24. Suddenly makes me cringe at what I might have been touching without knowing it....
I always thought of being able to walk around in a big area without running into anything and without all those wires would be cool BUT THIS IS A WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL OF VR
went to the void in genting! Although pricey and long line it was worth it! We played wreck it ralph haha WE ACTUALLY DIDNT KNOW WHAT THE LONG LINE IS FOR AND THOUGHT IT WAS GONNA BE A MOVIE LOL
Not trying to bash him for being 'bad' but that little coin demo is the first time I've ever caught slight of hand on the first viewing. I'm kinda proud of myself...
i used to dream about this kind of stuff thinking what if maybe someday in the far future this would be possible. if you look past all the bullshit that humans are the tech we have developed is truly amazing!
And I thought laser tag was cool in the 90s...
Neceros 80’s man 80’s...
@@BizzleTX 'Tisk' late 70's man late 70's... well the idea was any way :)
In the meanwhile, I bumped my hand against the table while I played bowling in VR.
Jeez, that must have hurt.
Meanwhile, i don’t own a vr
@@卂丂千 You can have a vr without having a vr hmd. Creating a vr is 100% free, so you can just do it!
I stepped on the dogs tail.. where’s his suit. 🥺
I dented my wooden desk playing Gorn. My touch controller is fine, though.
R.I.P. the Void. Hope you can come back one day
What happened
When your parents say to you "stop playing videogames and go outside."
This technology in 10 years or less is gonna change the world forever.
Imagine a super realistic, Star Wars universe where you get to do and be whatever and whoever you want!!
I remember hearing the exact same thing in the late 80's though. Fads come and fads go.
“where you get to do ... whoever you want!!”
That would be terrible

tracking markers u sure?
Yep that's definitely what those little semi opaque plastic things are, they're on the headset as well.
I think they didn't have real footage.
Andr01d3 those are tracking markers and this is relatively new so don’t expect the best
I did the Star Wars one totally worth iy
Everyday we make a step closer to SAO
This is legit the coolest thing I've ever seen!
Sorry to hear that. Maybe add more spice?

can someone enlighten me on what wired did regarding the issue about PewDiePie?
great project. hope it grows.
Omg I'm so freaking excited to do this at Disney Springs. I haven't don't any type of VR what so ever. So I'm so happy I'm going to be able to do this for my first VR experience.
This thing is just huge. I absolutely love it. I hope I'll get to try it some day.

The irl environment is like the backrooms creepypasta eh?
Do this with Avatar The Last Airbender please. I need to waterbend!
Imagine what this will be like in 25 years 😳
Did the Secrets of the rebellion In Orlando one word Awesome!!!
WE NEED A NEURAL LACE FOR REAL LIFE VR.
He just put the coin behind his finger if you look closely in the magic trick
Never done VR, can't wait!
The beginning of the Holodeck has begun.
Can you go to Manchester NH USA?
Arcades will be making a comebavk

Shut up and take my money!
You've watch your 2 complimentary online videos for the month..
Please come to DC. Please.
I played this today and I cant help but shoot myself as a stormtrooper
Don't know what the deal with pewdiepie is, don't care
Hate they shut this down

I hope the Void will come to Germany one day!!!
Very cool

Can you actually see avatars/clothes overlaid on top of the other people in the room?
There are avatars representing each person in the experience with you, and their heights are accurate for everyone in the group.
It's hilarious. Just did the Wreck it Ralph and we looked like cartoons
Now apologize to jackspedicy_69 and then kiss.
I rember when I used to respect your guys company
Isn't this _Augmented_ reality and not VR?
AR is more like what Pokemon GO is doing I believe.
I know this is a old comment but I think I heard them call it "hyper reality" but I don't know if that's the official name for something like this

Not gonna lie, you me on the first half! hhahahahah
Thought he had his arm amputed IN THE VOID!
I got to try this a couple of hours ago, and oh my god it feels amazing to properly flip off darth vader as he charges towards me. 10/10
I have tested this multiple times for the VOID. It is surreal! They fulfilled all of my dreams by their 4D effects and VRE
I live like 5 minutes away from there but they still haven't opened it to the public
I’ve watched SAO I know how this ends 😂
I remember placing a couch in the same place in rec room as it was in real life, then sitting down on it. It's pretty cool to do that, and I can't imagine what this might be like.
Wouldn't it be better to use a Vive because of the Lighthouse technology and all?
I'm rather skeptical of their tracking tech here. The big white dots can't be very accurate on a micro-scale. The Rift uses small points of IR light which is more effective, although the Vive's Lighthouse tech still works best. The first person video shown here looks rather jerky, so that leads me to believe that it isn't as good at giving an immersive tracked presence as Lighthouse or even Constellation can provide.
Keavon Chambers the first person looks like it wasnt filmed in VR rather on a PC
Joe shmoe filmed their perspective while in vr

I like how someone's subscribed just to dislike the video before watching it.
Mathias Kalhauge That's the internet for ya'.
Mathias Kalhauge true.
David Willey He means the dislike happened the moment the video was released
Lol... I love all the emotion in this comments, go ahead try and change the world in a UA-cam comment section.......
I did this. Its freaking incredible!!!!!
can this company *not* go belly up... please 🥺
VR has the potential to bring back arcades. If I knew anything about business I would consider starting one up.
Seeing my 6yo run around as sawedoff stormtrooper was highlight of vacation!
at this point, they should stop claiming to be "utah-based" since they are actively refusing to open the facility in utah. I would honestly respect them a lot more if they would just come out and say "after partnering with disney, we are moving our corporate headquarters to california, and we will be ceasing operation of our previous facility in lindon."
I tried this at Mall of America and it is EPIC!
They have this at Disney Springs now at Orlando Florida but its Star Wars theme.
So it's better
I did the Star Wars scenario and it was a lot of fun. Highly recommend it.
At the same time WHAT the heck is that stain on the chair at 0:24. Suddenly makes me cringe at what I might have been touching without knowing it....
Had to use the 2D Debug because they couldn't (or just forgot) to capture the POV of the players
they also should make a gloves for good texture feedback
I always thought of being able to walk around in a big area without running into anything and without all those wires would be cool BUT THIS IS A WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL OF VR
I went to the void in Mississauga Ontario. This is unreal.
Can you Do one for tf2 please
The Void is awesome I've been twice and they really did a good job both times.
why have a torch you can move in real life but when they show the game its stuck to the pov and only moves when their head does?
I looked up the void vr coz I was hoping to watch some e boy throw money at another guy with a female avatar lol
RIP
I saw the coin hidden behind his finger though... :(
So has this taken off ?
wow.. imagine like airsoft with this tech or something similar! would be a whole lot of fun!!!
sounds like a cool idea, lasertag like but 3D, without being hit by anything
I went and tried this at Orlando. Couple glitches sometimes but overall really dang cool
where is the pewdiepie slam? People keep mentioning it but can't find it.
Wait salt lake city UT because I can't find it on there website
that vanishing coin trick should have been re recorded where we couldn't see it moving to other hand.
My dad was given a job there and we will be moving to Utah next fall. Kinda sad because we are moving. But I will be able to try VR which is amazing.
went to the void in genting!
I’m going next month
We really do live in exiting times, I can't believe this is possible.

rapture system? Someone is a fan of Bioshock xD
thats more a christian term
I did the Star Wars one and it was awesome
The Holodeck!!!!
Hey . scream Anybody recognize smarter this video ?#funny..
2:09 he failed there
but then every game is limited to one map layout or you can only do one scenario?
Now combine this technology with VrChat. Then we will have peaked as a species.
I just did this with my sister the other day at Disney Springs! It was great. I wish my sons were with me.
It can go into another new attractions in Disney park
the 'magic' discussion felt odd and forced, like a dude just wanted to show he knew a coin trick. but otherwise this looks cool.
Why is the game footage faked? - clearly not using an HMD or motionscontrollers in the ingame clips.
Who else slowed down to 0.25 to see how he does the magic trick?
I'm so glad to see stuff like this putting Utah in headlines
