- So yeah, AI detection is funky. It's a shame people are getting falsely flagged on TurnItIn regardless of if they've used it or not. Do not use this for anything unethical or illegal. Do not participate in any academic dishonest practices because of this.

Other strategy I would employ (coming from my gray hair and too many years writing) 1.) Have AI design outline with bullet points 2.) DO THE ASSIGNMENT 3.) Delete the bullet points. Conversely: 1.)Have AI run its words thru a "writing sample filter" of a few diff writers you like that you tune it with - think of this as an "encryption " of writing style 2.) Check it with AI checker site 3.) Paraphrasing , burstiness , AI plug ins to humanize the writing 4.) Run your own flavor of writing style - touching up the output in your verbiage 5.) THEN run it through an AI checker.
This is similar to what I do. I come up with all the ideas and I list out what I want the essay to be and what each part will do. Then I get Chat gpt to write it and i make sure i enforce some rules on what it can or can't do (sometimes it changes evidence, use unnecessarily big vocabulary words) and then I make revisions to make it more like my writing style and check it with an AI checker
Sometimes if I am stuck on a project or assignment I ask AI to give me some ideas but 100% depending on Chat GPT is not good since its essays arent that good

I think the biggest mistake people make is just using a whole ai written assignment. Instead, use what the ai gives you as an outline to delete and input your own words to kind of make it somewhat resemble something you made, then run it through all the fancy stuff. Like icing on a cake.

As a teacher, I have found that none of the student work from two years ago give me a false positive, and I've tried. I only get 0% (I've run a little over 40 essays). Essays from this year hit some percentage for about half of my students. I must now sit with each and conduct a viva voce and if the students can't explain or elaborate on their work, I conclude they didn't do the work. This is all too much work. The joy of teaching and giving feedback to help students improve their work is gone. I can't wait to retire.

I am so stressed rn. My professor gave me a 50% on my 1800 word paper because a majority of it was detected using an "AI Software". I spent all night writing that only for most of my classmates to get 85% to 90% and even 100% when they admitted themselves they just wrote a whole bunch of bs.
My professor said I could resubmit it and make sure I write it this time, as if I didn't before -_-
And you know whats funny? He told me that AI is stupid and I shouldn't use it (which I don't). But if AI is stupid, then WHY ARE YOU RELYING ON TURNITIN (an AI platform) TO DETERMINE WHAT GRADE I GET BECAUSE MY ESSAY SEEMS TO BE WRITTEN BY AI. All because it looks too smart? So here I am, trying to dumb down my paper so I look like an idiot, and only then will it not get detected by AI.
My professor was also telling me that with all this new AI the only thing left that AI can't replicate is my creativity and smarts. So you would think that the dumber my essay looks, the more likely it was written by AI, right? But NO!! If my essay sounds even moderately smart it is automatically detected as being written using AI. I AM NOT THAT KIND OF STUDENT I LITERALY HAVE NEVER USED THOSE STUFF. I didn't even know what chatgpt was until I went to college as a dual enrollment student!

i can confrim that, it happened to me at my part time job. i had to write an article, and I wrote it in my own words but they said it was ai generated. Funny enough I was so pissed I literally let chatgpt write one and send them that and the ai detector they used said it was human written. i was dumbfounded.

Last year my teacher told me I dont have to write report to my python code if I write a lot of comments. She marked it to 60% because she "wasn't convinced" meanwhile my classmates who just generated the whole shit with chatgpt (code and report) all marked 80+... Boomers trying to be smarter than AI will fuck over many more students I'm sure.

Hey, it's insane; like why go through this anyway? I tried all apps and each one says completely different things like you said; for my generated piece, it says 50 - 50 but for my piece I wrote it says 70 % Ai; how do I know which one to use? Also, what to do if the prof detects with Turnitin and the AI apps I used say there isn't any AI stuff there? I'm new to all this and it's giving me a headache...! Thanks for the information though.
hi great video and great work but can i ask something ? i go to college and they have told us that they have a plagiarism machine and mainly for AI - CHATGPT... I have done half of my work with AI and I have done paraphrasing.. my simple question is if it is definitely not possible to detect AI with text paraphrasing (for source s I’ve used some that had elements in common with the ones I’ve paraphrased from AI)

Not sure if it was mentioned as I only skimmed through the comments. However, Turnitin is extremely biased, and it only tells the instructor what it feels is AI-generated and not why. From what I have seen, Undetectable works best under the "more human" option. With this option, you will need to proofread as some sentences will omit words. This feature can be viewed as a plus because it shows human error. The "more balanced" option will get detected by AI. Not as much as a full copy/paste from GPT, but enough to raise a red flag. Additionally, beware of Quillbot and Grammarly. Turnitin recognize these platforms as AI. You can take an entire paper that you wrote and run it through those platforms to make corrections or reword the text and anything that it changes, Turnitin will recognize as AI. I wrote a paper and had Grammarly pro make the necessary changes and it came back 95% AI detected. After meeting with the instructor and showing him the original, he advised me that Grammarly is considered AI by Turnitin and moving forward I should rely more on the grammar check provided by Word than using any other online tool. I hope this information is helpful.

that would be ridiculous. even if it was and you got flagged for it, you have a foolproof argument "I was checking to make sure my essay wouldn't be wrongly flagged. I have heard stories of other students getting their essays flagged for no reason, so I wanted to ensure that didn't happen to me."
any sort of action taken against you there would be grounds for lawsuit
@@gold-penguin It may be nonsense, but I checked a paper on the Copyleaks website and it reported 0% AI detected; when I checked the same paper with the university Copyleaks it came back with 17% AI detected. I had similar results with subsequent papers. I believe Copyleaks is learning from submissions and causing false positives.

I find the outputs from the humanizers are really not good.
I tried using AI humanizers/bypassers, but Winston AI can now detect those tools effectively. Better stick to genuine methods!
