Dive into the Rhythmic Journey of Mr. Lenny on CTA - Cleaning The Airwaves! 🇰🇪
Uncover the musical tapestry woven by Kenyan Afro-Hip Hop artist Lenson Njuki Wang’ang’a, widely known as Mr. Lenny, since his debut in 2000. Introduced to the world of music by his friend and early collaborator Nelson kiama aka Dr. Paper, Mr. Lenny officially embarked on his musical odyssey under the Sratch Records label where they released their first single, "Daddy Has To Know". In the quest to share new and unconventional sounds, Lenny faced the challenge of finding studios willing to record his unique style. The turning point came at Entertainment with a Difference (EWD), owned by Jimmy, where he recorded the breakout single 'MCs.' Collaborations with Mr. Googz and Vinny Banton on the remix of 'Githurai' not only propelled Lenny's career but also reintroduced him to Ogopa DJ, connecting him with musicians across East Africa.
Building on this momentum, Lenny established a fruitful partnership with Kunguru, resulting in hits like 'African Woman' and 'Baby Don’t Go Away.' Collaborating with the late E-sir on 'Kamata,' Lenny also delved into independent projects, releasing the single 'Cash Money.' The Kenyan music scene witnessed Lenny's meteoric rise as he, along with fellow artists, toured East Africa and various European nations to showcase the richness of Kenyan music. After a hiatus in 2007 for business ventures, Lenny made a triumphant return in 2018 with 'Randa Randa' at Grandpa Records. Currently working with different producers on his second album, Mr. Lenny has rekindled his presence in the live music scene, gracing notable events like the GoDown Gig and PRC concerts.

I love it when stories allign and History is documented. You can tell it's the Truth when stories make sense and are told by different people. Big up Mr Lenny
Wonderful confirmation Nonini.
I literally came here to say the same..
Wait!!! Shujaa was Mr. Lenny? Whaaaat!!!!
Karibu sana Mkurugenzi...sure Mr Lenny is a legend. Real talent
Am equally shocked, 😅😅 I had never connected it this to Mr. Lenny. Damn, we are fossils!😅
I thank God I got a chance to work with Robah @scratchRecords big shout out to @uncleG254 who took me there
Listening to Mr. Lenny name drop legends in the music scene is so nostalgic... Man! Our music scene has come a long way ...
I did not realize Mr. Lenny was during the Scratch records time. He is foundational.
The same Scratch Records where Ousmanne was an artisté and producer? There was an artisté called Pretty Chi in Scratch Records who was in a group caled Zulu Crew. Funny guy😂
When I was a student at K.U, Pretty Chi was I think an accountant, I recall his song " khasupuu"
Hi Pepi Kal! I Kuchad, I ngochad but I hatad pwana! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂@@mwobobiasroundup
Then he had some banger dubbed "Manze Kipusaa" maad tune
Legend!! Loads of memories.
Roy, I was waiting for how the hit with Kunguru came to be. Kirudiwe bana.
Mr lenny we still love your vibe and music mi natakaaaa pesaaaa........... A star we need your interview too ,who will do yours how you started with kina kumbambaa
Wow!!..... This is really wonderful.... Recalling the legends!... Scratch records still exist and is doing great. It made me and others, and I still record there.... Big up producer Roba. I think you should appear here to tell us more. I think you are goldenly gifted
I remember Shujaa playing on Bambika by Shu Kiratu on Kameme FM
Hii interview haijaisha buana lazima Live premiere ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥💥💥 tumalize
Whatever @CTA Richie is creating is an archive for generations to come but what is interesting is the network of all the people who have come to cta have worked together somehow somewhere
Mr lenny was like akon or t pain of kenyan kwanza that song with kunguru and guthurai remix and later juju were huge.force to reckon with
Jawabu - Usinifungie mlango (boom),hata kama mlango ni wako (boom),siku moja utagundua ya kwamba mimi ndiye nafunga mlango (boom). Shaki ni mzii on hooks pia
Been looking for this song for years
Wait huko Scratch Records kulikuwa na "Ousmane - Dunda" na Zulu Kru?
7:54 usinifungie mlangoo...hata kama mlango ni wakooo ...that song was fireeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
This shujaa track a great sample … similar progression like “how could you let somebody in to our door” 💥💥🔥
From watching many CTAs its interesting to note how certain gifts 'reside' in certain areas e.g Calif area(music). How those with similar gifts find their way to these areas. How the gifted individuals stories are intertwined behind the scenes. Fascinating.
I too don't understand how I landed there and in the best hands of scratch records on my first day from kambaland😂😂
@@uncleg254 😄😄
He is definately an O.G
Big Kev could've made a very good CTA. Rip
Shaquay deh my best producer
If am not wrong, that Wyre song is usuhuba uwongo
16:01 Shujaa must have been inspired by Wyre's - Usuhuba wa Uongo
The Wyre song was, "Sikiza nakuambia usiwasikize marafiki wanaotuingilia, nia yao ni kututenganisha, usiwache waje kutuharibia."
Darling p was the kamba rappers group I think
You forget there was a group of guy vocalists called "Majizee"
The Wyré song had a hook that went like " sikiza nakwambia, marafiki wanao kuingilia, niya Yao ni ya kutuingilia, usitake waje kututenganisha "
that's the one!!!! He actually redid it in his album, "Definition Of A LoveChild". There's a song there called "Kwa Sababu" but that's a remake. Tedd had done the first version using the TImberland style. It had the same production style as "Are You That Somebody" by Aaliyah.
@@cta101 oh yes, it had a Craig David vibe
@@cta101 the song was called "Sikiza" if I'm not wrong
That Wyre song tht Mr Lenny is talking about is "Chuki"
Chuki came up waaay later
Twende sasa
Rudisha picha ya graduation mzee
