When you spine the rod, are you putting the side of the blank you mark (the inside of the curve) facing down or up on the finished rod? I put the spine facing down so that its natural bend is the same shape when fighting a fish....just wondering what your thoughts are. I have read that many builders put the guides on 90° to the spine.
Spline to the bottom of the blank. Video coming out tomorrow on this specific subject.
Hey Lee, I just came across your channel and I like what I've seen so far. I'm getting back into rod building again after a 30 year layoff. In this video I see you using the CRB rod wrapper. That is the same wrapper I have, but I've always used it with the wrapper on the other side of the rod. Not between me and the rod as I see you doing. Is there a reason you use it that way or am I doing it wrong?
Jeff, I don't think there is a wrong way, just a personal preference. That was the way my original hand wrapper was set up so I just kept doing things the same way.

Now that I think about it, when I wrapped rods way back when, I did it with a bobbin between me and the rod. With all the videos I've seen with the CRB wrapper, it is behind the blank. I'm actually kinda struggling wrapping with it in that position. I think I'm going to try the way you have it set up.
Jeff I have the same wrapper and it is designed to use the way you use it. Rod stands bolt to the wrapper. Makes everything much more stable while wrapping. Im use to it now.
Your video is only 360P and very difficult t see what you are doing. Lots of useful information for people that have not wrapped before.
UA-cam videos upload in low res to start with while the HD version is processing. It will be in 4K soon. Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed the video, looking forward to the next one.
