    RedCat seems to be building steam. Interesting products and solid pricing. I’m guessing a lot people turn their nose up at them because of their past. Gen8,gen9, ascent and ascent18 are all solid rigs !

    If you’re not advancing your design you’re backing up. How about a buggy kit with shiftable under drive and dig? Or a completely new truck kit?

    This was a fun SNU! I'm not sure what to think of the MK-7. The scale is so weird, but it looks good and has some interesting features. I like that draggin' wagon! I don't drag race, but it hit me with a wave of nostalgia because my parents owned a 1977 Ford LTD II station wagon back in the day, and that thing was a road boat! As for Matt's go-kart league, as long as he's having fun with his bumper-cars-on-a-track 😄, we can live with the one hour delay.

    FYI for anyone picking up a 4MT, make sure you call Traxxas to get a tool to take the wheels off. It does not come with one. The standard t tool does not fit into the deep dish wheels. I called yesterday and they were getting swamped with requests

    I would really like to see a lead spring platform from any of the 4. RC4WD is fine, but the aftermarket options, especially for Traxxas and Axial, would really make it a fun build. And more kits, rtr's are all fine and good, but you end up replacing 80% of it with upgrade parts. Bring back the kits!

    I have always favored Axial as a brand but have recently begun diversifying my fleet to include a Fordyce and a redcat hauler. I think that an RTR leaf sprung trail truck (better executed than the trail finder 2) could make some waves with the scale crowd regardless of the body on top. I feel like there are enough entry level platforms out there and we could benefit from more premium options that may be more purpose built. Possibly ARTR options for those who immediately rip out electronics from the RTRs.

      I agree. It’s an eight year old platform that hasn’t seen any significant changes since the Sport model six years ago (I think). It’s just new bodies and new colors every so often. I haven’t had interest in buying one for quite some time now because they’re so stale.

    I’m not a Traxxas fan boy but I’m digging the trx4mt. I think the Bigfoot stickers for the ford version is awesome, I think they should do Sampson or one of the other Chevy monster trucks of the era as well. They’re monster trucks, they’re not supposed to be fast, just really torquey

    The Dragon Wagon has the right wheelbase (13.5") for the Wendigo and modded/slightly shortened Marksman from Redcat. I already have a 51 Mercury drag body on one of my Marksman trucks, So I am super looking forward to getting this Dragon Wagon! The slash based drag bodies make excellent trail bodies for these trucks, but require some fender trimming to clear the big tires.

    I think we’ll see more manufacturers follow Element with the Zuul 2, IFS and trailing arm and able to actually go a little faster. The TRX4 is begging for this as a prerunner “Mini UDR.”
    As for Axial, I’m thoroughly convinced that the only reason the SCX10.3 exists is to differentiate Axial from the countless SCX10.2 clones. The tricky thing with crawlers is that there’s only so much that can be done with the chassis, and already such a massive aftermarket, it’s hard to justify investing in R&D when the community already does so much of that for you. If anything we’ll probably see more big moves from companies that make so many aftermarket parts that they just bundle them all together and sell a complete vehicle kit. The SCX10 Pro seems like it was built to compete against that kind of offering.

  • @Axial32

    Definitely would like to see some more innovation from the main top brands. That Mx07 is looking great from a country that normally can't figure out who to steal designs from.

  • @guest6423
    @guest6423 5 місяців тому +2

    The crawler market is a mature one. There are multiple scale options covering every popular category of 1:1 motorsport. I don't expect many blockbusters at this stage, with the majors seeking variations, and the smaller companies catching up. I think that the 2nd-tier manufacturers may believe they're innovating and 'crushing it' when they introduce new models, but mostly, they're just catching up.

    Hope you feel better soon. TXR4MT is an addition to the 1/12, 1/16, 1/18. 1/24 down size. The RC industries method of de-contenting products. Charge the same/similar price for less content. Still have not been able to get enthusiastic about the smaller scales. Hopefully it attracts new people to the hobby.

  • @BlackSeaRC
    @BlackSeaRC 5 місяців тому +2

    I assume that Traxxas has no plans for a 1:10 scale version of the MT then based on the naming convention. With regard to new products, I think it is the less well-known brands that are giving us the interesting products - companies like Cross-RC, Traction Hobby, FMS Model, RGT, etc.

  • @AnyAssumptionBanter
    @AnyAssumptionBanter 5 місяців тому +1

    i'm always happy to watch this... weird naming by traxxas and rigs still expensive regardless if they are 'priced' as the market shows.
    I wish the brands would move forward to modern electronics (we don't need brushed motors anymore) and if rtr's keep coming, provide the chassis and axles and body, and let us put on tires/wheels and electronics since we replace those anyways... wait, rtr = ready to replace! ooooh.

    I really like my Redcat collections as most of them share similar parts. Even the new Ascent uses Gen9 axles which share most internals with the Gen8s (bearings, diff locker and covers, ring & pinion gears, lower output gears, rear top gear and axle shafts, etc...). I do have a couple of Axial rigs, and a few no name budget scratch builds. No Traxxas yet (they need a comp style light LCG rig as I have enough trail trucks). But I am looking at a used TRX4 Sport for a UGRC Labs Trail Doctor chassis build. I am also saving up for a Vanquish VRD Carbon kit (I have parts from Vanquish but this would be my first truck of theirs). I see brand loyalty for me as more of functional thing than blind cultness (does exist). We are currently spoiled in that we live in a golden age of RC where there is more variety of types, options, and parts, than ever before. So much so, that it is almost difficult to buy a bad rig as long as you buy form one of the mainstream brands. Yes, some have minor issues & some more so than others, but I feel they are all incrementally improving and with those improvements innovation becomes a game of "diminishing returns" as far as full clean sheet design. It will be more "evolutionary" rather than "revolutionary". I talked a lot.🤣🤣

    I was kinda interested about the TRX-4MT but that motor is barely enough for a trail truck, maybe if there are really good aftermarket options it can compete with the LMT Mini. Hopefully Tamiya upgrades the MF-01X to XM-01 in the full kits too.
    I hope Axial makes something completely different soon, SCX10.3 and Capra platforms are not good and UTB18 is ugly, even the Pro has some dumb design. Element platform is decent but their lineup is a little weird. I still like my TRX-4 sport but I'm going to try VP because your designs just seem better than anything else

I like the new rlaarlo it looks pretty good and the price is good too, but I’m definitely looking into the wagon body for my drag slash. I do think it somewhat ruins an RTR to know the entire electronics package is slow and also uses proprietary connectors. Just make it a roller. Overall it shares the same issues as the mini LMT: too bouncy, looks like a toy in motion.

    I personally have no brand loyalty and have trucks from all of them. I also have my likes and dislikes with all of them. However, I think with the moves Redcat have recently made and the price point, the "Big 3" are going to need to do something in the next year or two or risk losing the newcomers to the hobby and the interest of those already in it. They will all have thier loyal fanbase that has been with them for years, though I've recently seen some people leaving that mindset behind as well. However, the upcoming generation tends to lean hard into both budget and inovation. I'm not saying Redcat has brought anything particularly inovative other than a brushless RTR, but as a company you can see major progress and it makes them stand out a bit. Especially when you see them in comparison videos along side trucks that are $100+ more than them and still keeping up. I really hope we see something new from at least one of the big brands soon and not just an update or spec option with an existing platform.

  • @ninthislandrc
    @ninthislandrc 5 місяців тому +3

    Not that I'd buy one (translation: I guarantee I wouldn't buy one, as I'm done with crawlers (sold all of mine last year, except my SCX24), plus I'm (essentially) done buying RTRs from Traxxas)...but, Traxxas is the one I'd say needs to update their design the most. Yes, the platform still sells well, but it's more than 7 years old. I don't expect anyone to compete with TRX4...but, they could, at least, redesign it to give it a more 'competitive' edge - more forward motor, front-rear weight bias with more 'front' weight, lower COG, clipless body mount system, etc, etc, etc.

    I like many I’m sure are waiting for Element to finally do a full new 2nd gen or at least improve the chassis stiffness and please change up the axles.

    Really I have stepped away from the big brands. I can build my own 5 lb crawler for the same price with portals CF chassis and the electronics I want. Brands like Injora are stepping up and the junk from 5 years ago is being replaced by parts that rival bigger brands. The Hobbywing Fusion or a Rhino with an outrunner outperforms anything else in the crawler world for half the price or less. 60 kg servos are common. Make your own and learn something.
