That tone is beautiful. What a craftsman! I've built a few, and the last couple were exceptional, but i don't know that the resonance was on par with what I'm hearing. excellent.
Covered strings are really cool with slide. And the thinner smooth strings are great for soloing
Sounded really good with those strings, great little jam demonstration
3:53 The Blues Rooster. There, you've got yourself a new band name.
Love the rich tones that Cohiba box and those skinny strings produce.
Puros cubanos! El tres! Elíades Ochoa! Gotta love that cigar box.
I like em!! and the Rooster likes em too! Thanks Michael!!!
Revelation mate, I've a box of around 100 sets of skinny strings in the workshop. Think I'm gonna start using them up. Loved the rooster too, authentic blues.
Hey Michael, that sounds great! I just finished my second CBG, 23 inch scale and put the extra slinky, 8, 11, 14. tuned gdg.
Buddy, You could make a CBG with Barbed wire for the for the low G, Electric fence wire for the D. and an elastic band for High G. And you would make it sound Awesome. Great Builder. and a Great Player. (still waiting for the wife to make an appearance) lol.
Skinny strings sou d dam awesome dude and so do you. Love that swampy sound bro!
That's a great sounding cbg Michael! That's one of my favorite boxes to use in my builds. What's that pickup you used?
Thanks David. Pickup here www.amazon.com/dp/B07F7X4GH9?th=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=southernfireg-20&linkId=ba83298bab2e0b47d397c5951526b23c&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
So nice really nice
Sounds Great!!!
Michael, the guitar, strings and especially your playing sound amazing!
Would it be hard to replace my piezo with a humbucker?
Not really, you will have to cut the hole in the box and notch out the neck inside for the pickups. M~
Those strings sound great, thanks for the video.
Nice Michael. Cheers ✌️
Hi Michael,
The strings sounds very beautiful 🎶, but tell me how long is the scale of the cohiba cbg?
Greetings from Germany 👍🏼
Little Red just has to show his approval of skinny strings, just as I do with a comment! Great playing, just wish I could do something remotely similar and loved the instrument you used. Do you sell to the UK? Thanks from Paul
It sounds surprisingly good. How does it sound without amplification? I'll give it a try on #175.
Thanks Cracker, They sound pretty good acoustically. Give it a try. M~
Sounds like the open road, real tough. Those strings inspired you.
Hey Michael! Thanks for this brilliant show of a guitar.
When you mention skinny strings, is that a string brand or you're just talking about general thinner strings?
Cheers from Portugal, Europe.
Thanks brother. Just thinner in general. Thinner that I normally use. 040 030 022. M~
@@SouthernFireGuitars Thanks for replying, Michael. See you next video!
I have two CBG's with the Tenor strings Sound good two. CB Gitty
Rooster has good timing!
That sounds AMAZING!! Just when you've got me about ready to move over 100% to the EBE you pull out yo ass! DAYUM DOOD! 😁🤩
Thanks Johnny. I like both tunings, the skinny strings seemed to sound real good with the open G. 😎
Wow - This makes me question the usual setup with thicker strings. Especially if you are a newer player. These will be much easier to bend! I like it.
@@SouthernFireGuitars I’m a big fan of yours! I started making guitars last year and used MANY of your videos for inspiration and instruction.
Killer Sir Killer 🤩🙏👍
I'm here for the chickens .... just kidding !
Just feed the roosters some fermented corn and enjoy the show@@SouthernFireGuitars
Yes, sounds very good. Puts a doubt on the 'must have' those thick strings 42 34 24
Like the thinners strings a lot better.
Very nice Riff. Needs a slow tutorial 😉
Thanks Klaus. I have done a tutorial on that tune here's the link ua-cam.com/video/FwSsWWo1jrU/v-deo.html
Sounds good, would like to hear a duet of CBGs, one skinny string and one fat string. Keep it up!
