It is a very nice suggestion to arrange cultural programmes like music, dance, drama , Harikathas, etc to students to expose them our rich cultural heritage. All the schools and colleges should necessarily arrange such programmes and attendence should be made compulsory.

I like Sri Subbu Arumugam and his daughter’s Villupattu. Both of them are very efficient in Villupattu.

Excellent programme on two important traditions, both of which were instrumental in propagating the stories of Mahabharata, Ramayana and the Puranas. Harikatha ranges over many languages and stories from all over India. Villu Pattu ( Villu is a Tamil word meaning 'Bow', as in 'bow and arrow') is based on a traditional Tamil musical instrument that resembles a bow but is used as a string instrument.
In Tamil villages, Temple festivals had Villu Pattu as well as Harikatha.
From the turn of the twentieth century until recent times, both Harikatha and Villu Pattu suffered a sort of eclipse. Old families knowing the material and techniques disappeared without their younger generations following their ancestral traditions and knowledge.
Vishaka Hari and Subbu Arumugam's daughter Bharathi are very important for the revival of these two old traditions.
As Villuppattu is an excellent one. In our Govt School at pudur, at an Annual Function the School arranged in 1968 around Villupattu at our school.
