It's sad that this series, the best Cinemax has had in probably 20 years, ended so soon. :/
I ready that they wanted to do a sequel set many years later showing the evolution of the world and hospital but i guess they never went through with it
@@harrismatthew5553possibly because it wouldn’t have Thackery. The show would still be great without him but he really helped elevate it even more
I have watched FAR too much TV this past insane year but The Knick is by far the best thing we watched. Please HBO bring this show back for a season 3, etc!
WISH THEY HAD TEN SEASONS. One of the Greatest shows w/ less than 25 episodes we will ever see. SHOULD STILL BE ON!
this show keeps getting better and better Up there with breaking bad imo
why is this not on Netflix I wanna watch 😩
I am in love with dr Thackery. Chaos, passion,, ingenious mind, erotic and Love. Mind blowing. Mr. C. Owen makes all those things so intens and so attractive that The Knicks has made me fall in love with the actor himself. OMG.
After seeing the first series, I realized that they want to impose the truth, showing all the details of that era to the smallest degree of its authenticity. Well, I believed my eyes. Thanks to the producers.
still not over this show getting canceled 😞it’s brilliant television
The one thing they got seriously wrong was when he was in bed trying to kick cocaine and in acute cocaine withdrawal which was depicted as a natural flu like sickness. that happens with opioids not cocaine which has acute withdrawal symptoms that are psychological mostly. Now when he’s kicking the heroin or the tar balls he was smoking in the opium den that would cause that. It’s weird because they got his day long cocaine induced manic episodes mostly accurate. This is coming from a recovering opioid addict :)
I always thought the same thing. It's really the only thing they got wrong. Like you said, cocaine withdrawals are mostly psychological, it would've been more accurate if he was angry and irritable with a lot of fatigue and just not feeling right, which was shown in other episodes. I guess they needed the scene when nurse Elkins shows up at his house and finds him sick for the sake of the plot. Anyway congratulations for recovering, I'm still on suboxone and am trying my best to taper it down, hope you're doing fine man
This is going to be a great show, well worth watching. First two episodes have been oddly fantastic !
+AbraXaDabra I concur. Keeps getting better :)
Why did you cancel this great show
Idk but I think it was one of those shows that took a little while to take off but the studio/producers weren’t patient enough & didn’t want to spend/risk anymore money. But yeah, sad. It’s probably the best show Cinemax has ever had
My favorite TV show👌
U sir have very good taste.
I love this show. Still waiting for season 2
The wait is over 🙂
@@SincereSentinel waiting for season 3 lol
@@robertbowser328 we should start a petition for season 3...
I generally hate dramas, but I feel like this is so rich in medical history, I don't know what else to say. I love it.
"We took a small few breaks"'.. best intro of the series. Man this show deserved a better ending.

The academic part of me appreciates a nuanced view of people, which thinks historically about the context and how it would have shaped people's views and behaviors but... We shouldn't never go so far as to glorify and excuse their behavior as so often happens to historical figures and modern celebrities.
Well those behaviors are reflective of the culture of the times. There was no drug scheduling or regulation. I think those elements of the story express how little people knew about medicine and addiction. I really love the show. It truly feels like a history lesson every episode.
Danielle Effiong I quite understand that, I remember the Agatha Christie mysteries set in the same time. The smoking all the time by everyone and they used opiates in everything so I learned back when I watched those and I took actual classes about historical thinking.
My point was that a behavior is performed so often it starts to seem acceptable, it's expected. From what little I've gleaned from these clips, he knew enough to hide it, he was better educated than most men he could tell he craved it and need more of it, etc
I get all of what you said and I adore the accuracy and fidelity to historical culture, my point is simply that drug use should always be shown to have a price and the show may well do that, again based on the clips was say what I hoped I would see when I finally got to see the show.
Have you seen episode 10? I don't want to discuss something and drop a spoiler.
No have gotten around to it yet.
I would quote the late great philosopher Ricky Martin in reference to this show by saying "She bangs"
I was so into this show and all of a sudden doctor Thackeray dies doing his own operation this was an amzing series
I don't recall him dying. I think the last episode of the series had him in a rehab house to get over his addiction to cocaine. Unfortunately, what they used to treat that with was morphine 😂
@@ughmazing8073no ,in season 2 he dies at the end. You’ve only seen season 1. You are missing out& not trying to sound rude or something you’re close👍but the rehab treated him with Heroin from Bayer pharmaceuticals
Its a great show, but do they have to promote the ILLUMITTI...
I push buttons all night an never seen a movie
looks totally depressing.
It’s actually fascinating
