My physicians and dermatologists always recommend inexpensive, regular old pharmacy products for everyday and also for problems. Their practices may SELL expensive lines, but for medical care it’s all unscented, gentle, ingredient-driven, readily available
I agree. Since i could be sensitive, I would only buy clarins anti aging serum and estee lauder advamces repair. Thsoe are my go to luxury products. I buy only PC,vichy, laroche, eucerin and other derma skincare brands are recommended by many dermatologist, from 60 or less drugstore products.
Always great, straightforward talk. I appreciate that you don't promote all these high end products. People buy into advertising and packaging and could save with other products from drug store.
As an herbalist, I always geek out when you mention tea/Green tea(EGCG) licorice root, calendula. Makes my 💚 green heart happy! So many great plants to nourish us everyday. Thank you, doc!
Oooh thanks for the reminder...foraging season is here, calendula oil will be needed soon lol! Haha I always tell kids, if your legs are a mess of scratches in September, it usually means you had a great summer! I just don't want scars or infections lol...
I really appreciate your brutal honesty… It’s hard to find that nowadays. I also appreciate that you explain what the fragrance is like if there is any, for somebody that’s sensitive to fragrance like I am, it means a lot! ❤
I adore the fact you preach fragrance-free... as someone who's skin is allergic to most essential oils and gets migraines due to scents, guidance in fragrance-free skincare is so appreciated. **hugs**
Dr dray keeping it real as usual. That’s why I love you. Been following you since your early vlog days. One of the most enjoyable and educational channels I follow and still watch years later.
Thank you Dr Dray for sharing this informative video. I was doing a search on the L'Oreal company and to date they own 35 brands including Lancome, Maybelliene, La Roche - Posay, Cerave in 2017, just to name a few. As a consumer I think the prices that they charge for fancy packaging isn't reasonable. There are so many good drugstore gems that I prefer to purchase than just for the fancy packaging. I'm a tea lover, my beloved favorite is the Typhoo gold 🥰 Take care everyone and save your money!
I love drinking tea. I drink green, oolong, black, herbal ones like hibiscus, rooibos, and chamomile. It's also part of the Asian culture so it's just very natural for me but I really lean into it because of the health benefits as well
I'm a tea drinker. Iced tea, hot tea, green tea and black tea. I'm not a huge fan of flavored teas. Have to have my coffee in the morning to get going but always enjoy a cup of tea at night. So glad you get sent these expensive products to review and love that you give your honest opinion which I'm sure saves lots of people from wasting their money. I personally can't afford high in skin care which is why I'm so grateful that you promote affordable skin care that actually works. Fun vlog! Happy Sunday, Dr Dray!! Hope you have a blessed evening. 💙
Same! Coffee every morning and then tea the rest of the day. Not a fan of the fake flavor teas but I’ve recently fallen in love with a bunch of the Pukka herbal teas. Found them at sprouts but target has them too
I actually really like Genefique (they also have a sensitive one) but….I only use it when I’m going out somewhere nice as it sits soooo beautifully under makeup. I use K-beauty everyday and have found my holy grails for everyday and skin benefits but have to say none sit as well under makeup as Genefique…just MHO :)
Do use any unusual complicated foundation?? I have dozens of serums and creams that sit well under make up. It's odd actually that that should be an issue
Great info, once again...thanks! I absolutely agree with you on the audacity and ridiculousness of insurance companies deciding what to cover (and not just for post-acne issues). The insurance industry is by and large one of the worst industries of all. We need to get a clue from other countries on appropriate preventive/medical coverage for everyone (and no, I'm not into socialism). Several years ago, one of my daughters had a college friend from Sweden who told us how great their healthcare system works. We need to do better here.
Huge tea drinker here. Earl grey sencha green tea with a drop of honey is my favorite. 💚🍵 Matcha is also a very close second on my list. So good! 😋 I actually prefer them over coffee 😮 lol But I do enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the morning as well. ☕️
I have EXTREMELY sensitive skin. I find that the Beauty of Joeseon Cleansing Balm works the best for me. It has no fragrance and doesn't have the least bit of sting in it for my face. It is the only first step cleanser that I have found that works for me.
For hydrating toner/serum I use a polnish brand called Lynia. Their NMF toner has approximately 3% urea, 2% niacinamide, mixture of different amino acids and lactic acid. It costs only 5 EUR. For oil cleanser I use the Chifure one from Japan. It's mineral oil based without any middle chained triglycerides or synthetic esters which can break me out badly. It's also way more efficient than The Ordinary squalane cleanser. I never use eye cream. Instead I dab some 0.1% retinaldehyde then follow with CeraVe in the tub on my resistant eye area.
$100 + depending on size. I used it for years when I could afford it. Didn't see any miracles lol but I do admit I love the feel and look after using it
I love your honest review Dr. Dray. I used to work for a lot of luxury skincare companies. And the only take away I have from all the trainings is beautiful stories, star ingredients and small studies. Many people don’t like the dermatologist side of luxury opinion, because they think, only luxury is good skincare. But they are all the same, ingredients are the key, the packaging is the rest. Many companies didn’t talk about Vitamin E, Nicinamide etc. in their formulations, only about the star extract. So people in the industry (not all) really don’t have any clue about skin care and what they tell you and offer you in the end, which is really scary for your face and money you will spend.
I drink Green Tea in extreme amounts daily. I was actually gauging the length of time that I have been drinking GT consistently (daily) and I started in 2005. At the time, I wanted something healthier to replace my Pepsi addiction and GT was my choice. Don’t shame me for my assessment, but I can attribute many of my skin improvements to drinking GT (personal opinion) . At 51 , I feel and my skin looks better than when in my late 30’s and early 40’s. I empty the WholeFoods shelves each time I replenish my stock .
Yassss you have saved me so much $$. I was bombarded by ads of Lancome black bottle left right and center. Every influencers were selling this like liquid gold. Nope, nope I don't need this, can't afford it, thank you!
I have Kaiser in Bay Area and they have refused sending me to my Dermatologist due to no cancer in two years on my face. I feel I'm just not covered for Derm. Thank God I found your channel and receive wonderful info. My plan is to go to off site Doc
When I first got Kaiser, they would allow maybe one derm appointment a year but now it's considered cosmetic and not covered so you probably will have to come out of pocket and find an outside derm.
Love green tea with a bit of honey from the local farms. I get the big box of green tea packets at Costco. Forces me to up my water intake and it's good for you.
Fenty's packaging is, to my understanding, guided by how easy it is to use with long nails. Cleansing balms that come in a jar can be very difficult to use with long nails, as can eye creams in a small jar, so in both cases, Fenty's packaging is better for long nails.
The only fragranted face product I use and LOVE is the Haruharu Black rice hyaluronic toner. It has lavender oil in it which I'm not generally a fan of, however the smell of this toner takes me back to my childhood because it smells like the cleanest, freshest lake that I used to go to💜💜💜
I like the idea of the Fenty packaging. I’m always leaving lotion etc in the bottom of containers because the pump can’t access all the lotion. Something that pushed it along would be great.
This video is very helpful, my mother use that Lancome serum for many years, and my sister and I started using it last year as well. Although we only bought them when there's a 50% off sales, I will not buy it again.
When it comes to bifida there are many good affordable Korean products which will give same results. Isntree bifida ampoule improved my skin so much, and it's only 25$
I received the Fenty cleanser in exchange for a review and I genuinely liked it, at first I thought I wouldn't because of its thick consistency and heavy oily feel but it effectively removed all my sunscreen and makeup. I would not pay $34 for a makeup remover but it was a pleasant experience.
@Trinity M I didn’t start wearing makeup other than mascara and lipstick, until Fenty beauty came into play. However, I can’t get with her skincare line. When it comes to skincare, I have to stick with the tried and true because my skin is very oily and acne-prone. Plus I’m black so I’m at risk for post hyperpigmentation. The eye cream she reviewed doesn’t sound horrible but I’m just gonna stick with what I know works for me and the only Fenty skin care I’ll use is the body lotion for my body.
There are many new Retinol products in the Korean skincare market these days. It seems like OTC Retinol only recently became an ingredient in Korean brands. 2 years back I could only find Paula's Choice but now Korean brands such as CosRX, Innisfree, Mamonde, Some by Mi, Frankly, Simplica, Doctors etc have their own Retinol products. Can you please review these products.
I love green tea and other herbs, but people should be careful not to mix every herb without researching also dosing is very important, plants can be very dangerous even deadly without proper use. Especially if it's not in your culture so you know very little, make sure to research first ❤
Coffee drinker here, tea on rare occasion! Looks like I'll be adding more tea! Thank you and ty for tips. New subscriber and I ordered two of the less expensive products u recommended! (Cera Ve Resurfacing and the Joseon under-eye serum) and I've also gone back to using Vaseline. I love your tips, techniques etc videos - please keep them coming Doc! Thank you!
I gotta say, that Red Rose marshmallow hot chocolate stevia combo tea flavor frightens me! Glad you enjoy it, though. I'll take the Pique hibiscus one, thank you!
Lancôme Génifique I received in a purchase with purchase during Xmas. 9 Lancôme items for $75. Score just counting this 1oz size plus the eye cream. It’s just luxury Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid. I will try them when my current vitamin C runs out.
My Dermatologist sends a list of what not to do before visits! No polish on fingers and toes. No makeup, clear sunscreen only. No actives. No deodorant. No perfume. I can use Cerave cream on my body.(legs where my Vasculitus scars are) I HATE that about Insurance!!!
I love tea! Matcha and chamomile lavender, ginger turmeric, and a sweet cinnamon are my daily faves! I try others but I have one or two of these daily!
I drink tea daily. And drugstore skincare is awesome. Neutrogena Hydroboost line is my holy grail. The only splurge is my Dermatology neck cream is the only lotion I see a difference if I don’t use it. I’ve used the Lancôme products & they are no better than my neutrogena serums. Thanks for all your reviews!!
I am late to the party, I love your channel. I personally use Lancôme fiery a hiatus. Once I went back my skin improved again. My skin seems to respond well to the products but I also use lesser priced products as well
Lancome used to have a "sensitive" fragrance free version of genefique but I can't find it anymore. I prefer the estee lauder ANR even though I know it's overpriced. I haven't used it in a long time but I do miss it.. sometimes you can get it at costco
Don't you just wonder if these PRs actually watch Dr Dray? Her buzzwords are efficacy and value for money - so it is unlikely that she would recommend a $40 eye cream over a $10 one that gives you an effective OTC high quality product without bankrupting yourself. I guess the PRs live in hope!. This vlog is brilliant 😂
Most likely they only look at the number of subscribers. When you're sent a PR gift without them contacting you first, you're not obliged to do a review, but PR people know that you likely will make a review since you need views to make money. Even if you say that you don't like the product, some people might end up being interested in it, so they google the product, then most likely google the brand, and end up buying something. Even if only 5 people buy something, that's $500+ in sales which might not have happened if you didn't send a PR gift.
Oh yeah I hate how insurance companies try to control everything in there not Physicians. Finally got some more tretinoin and they said it was covered or discounted if I got it through their drugstore were there mail order pharmacy but the kept quoting me sizes that I kept telling them it doesn't come in that size, you know grams versus milligrams and when I finally got someone who knew what they were talking about, the discounted amount was 50 something dollars more than the amount I had to pay at the drugstore out of pocket. We can tell that they really want to help me but of course they don't know what I'm using it for so that probably why they are saying they will cover it. Also I have never met a dermatologist, sad for me that I don't have Dr.Dre, who is visual. No one has ever looked at my nails and only look at what I point out which I feel is a disservice to me because I really should be screened for skin cancer in areas that I can't always see no matter how I manipulate a mirror.
When you said to guess the price of the Lancome, I didn't have a clue. I thought $50 would be a lot ! So, when you said $132.........holy cow !!!!! There are products just as good that don't cost anywhere near as much, like you pointed out.
Thank you once again Doctor Dray for coming to the rescue. Was gonna buy the lancome serum after getting sent a sample and it seems pretty good but definitely not for that price tag!!🤑🤑🤑💸💸
Finally…someone to actually tell me I don’t need to go broke buying Genafique. Good to know there are alternatives. I just figured I wouldn’t have the kind of great skin that others had because I couldn’t afford this expensive product. BTW, do you have an opinion on the skin care companies like Agency that provide Tretinoin and other ingredients for a fairly hefty price of about 80.00 per month? Would you just recommend going to a dermatologist and getting an Rx for Tretinoin instead? Thank you for your time.
She doesn’t comment on those since technically they are other doctors. Some commenters mention it with mixed reviews. I would think if you could get into a doc locally it would be better but I know that’s nearly impossible at times. My GP was willing to prescribe me tret at my last physical.
Insurance is a bunch of crooks. The money they extract from people AND think they have the authority to tell a doctor what they'll do-who went to school ? -it's insane.
@Trinity M no they don’t. It’s an incredibly lobbied industry for profits only. Why should my employer be a gate keeper to coverage? Thinking about the purchasing power government would have through universal coverage. This is what is currently offered by Medicaid, Medicare, and all other first world nations
Go find the equivalent in the L’Oréal drugstore line… same company😮 L’Oréal owns Lancôme. I’m a huge tea drinker. Hot or cold all year around. I love green tea and black teas. Starting around now we make ice tea everyday! I’m a purist now sweetener or sugars!
She's my all time favourite Derm Dr. The rest is all about selling their skincares or very expensive treatments with not much else. Nothing wrong with that but I'm definitely not into this "consumerist" target.
Always appreciate your informative content. I have used and loved Genefique for years, although I purchase largest size during sale events for the best value. I alternate it with Skinceuticals C E Ferulic (also spendy), and have used Retin A for almost 50 years (I am 62). I could probably find great products for less $$$, but this combo really works for me. And of course sunscreen. I am loving Supergoop Mineral Matte Screen.
Such a timely release of this video! I’ve been looking at some more higher end products that are on the sephora 25% sale- but happy to save my bucks and spend on better alternatives with less irritants! Thank you ☺️
But if the products look gorgeous on your vanity and make you feel beautiful why not? Yes one can use 5.00 vanicream but how does that make you feel? The packaging is ugly, no nice fragrance, and hideous on the vanity. Lancome cleanser works amazingly and is beautiful too!
@@ingrid48 "why not?" she explained she's happy to save her money. :) "how does it make you feel" well, again, it makes her happy to not only save money, but to spend it on things on better alternatives for herself
I received the Lancôme Advanced Genifique to test out and review. I was SO EXCITED to receive such a "high end" product. The first couple days I loved it, but then I broke out into a horrible rash all over my face. This Lancôme product is the only new product in my routine. So sad!
@@littlefairy9696 same for me. I almost never get pimples. This was definitely not an acne breakout, it was little red dots, and blotches all over my face.
I’ve tried Missha Time Revolution for a serum akin to what Génifique and Estée ANR claim, and from price to ingredients and my skins response…I think it’s worth checking out!
Dr. Dray, would u consider doing a video solely about tea?? I keep seeing videos w rules (should/shouldn't do when steeping. Bags vs loose vs pouches?) Not sure what's true! Thank u! 😁🥰
We have a little dog pasture behind the corner from where we live. The city comes through there with a mower and then subsequently blows leaves and grass all over, so much so that the wind carries it on to our driveway. Man... the number of times we had to clean extra after they've been is countless. It's infuriating. I would take it up with the complex! Some blowers can turn into "suckers", no joke (ours does that). Might as well suck your dirt up instead of blowing it all over!
Lancome came out with Genifique to compete with Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair. It doesn't even come close to it imo, in fact I found it very drying. Estee's serum is the ONLY skincare product that I spend money on.
I purchased a Lancome bundle because it was only $70, which is truthfully a great deal. I got 4 skin care products, a perfume, and a few makeup items. A lot of those products were more than $70 at the individual price. That lancome serum was one of the items in the bundle. I dont have an issue with products irritating my skin, so I have no complaints! I don't find it to be magical though, so I wont ever be buying it for full price.
I regularly have fissures (yes gaping) on my hands, just from being in cold water quite a bit; so-called "winter hands", right? Well, I recently got the Neutrogena perfume-free hand cream, and be careful because depending on how you apply (I am usually veeery careful), it can still sting the "wounds" that you have. Typically I use band aids (yes 10 band aids all over my fingers and thumbs LOL) to cover those and let them heal, with a little wound care on them.
My physicians and dermatologists always recommend inexpensive, regular old pharmacy products for everyday and also for problems. Their practices may SELL expensive lines, but for medical care it’s all unscented, gentle, ingredient-driven, readily available
👍🏼👍🏼
Would you suggest what kind product ?
CeraVe moisturizer cream is amazing! I love vichy vitamin c and Neutrogena retinol . It has taken away my hyperpigmentation for sure
This is why I love Dr. Dray! She gives the absolute truth!!!!! She’s isn’t concerned about being sponsored
And also gives random power washer intermissions
Always great, straightforward talk. I appreciate that you don't promote all these high end products. People buy into advertising and packaging and could save with other products from drug store.

Good Sunday Dr.Dray and everyone, at least I hope you're having one! We're waiting for the usual weekend rain!😑
Greetings Sable 711 hope u r well n Happy Sunday😀👍💜….

Morning!
The late reggae musician Bob Marley had melanoma under his nail. He was a person of color. He died of skin cancer at 36. Very sad!!
Lancôme Génifique I received in a purchase with purchase during Xmas. 9 Lancôme items for $75. Score just counting this 1oz size plus the eye cream. It’s just luxury Vitamin C and Hyaluronic acid. I will try them when my current vitamin C runs out.
Loose leaf organic green tea brewed at 160 degrees for 3 minutes is my favorite afternoon warm beverage. Any matcha I have tasted just isn't my jam.
Yay love a Dr Dray vlog!!!
I received a sample for the Lancome Genifique; I love how hydrating it is. But yeah, I can get 'something' better and more affordable.
Love the Krave Beauty Re-Wined oil cleanser!
It's so good!
My Dermatologist sends a list of what not to do before visits! No polish on fingers and toes. No makeup, clear sunscreen only. No actives. No deodorant. No perfume. I can use Cerave cream on my body.(legs where my Vasculitus scars are)
I HATE that about Insurance!!!
Isentree has an eye cream with bifida fermented lysate for $20. It’s terrific.
Happy Sunday Dr. Dray. Hello from Winnipeg, Manitoba 🇨🇦
Morning!
Hey there! My favourite time of the day! I do drink tea in afternoon and coffee in morning. Growing up we had green tea with dinner 💙💙
No one has ever looked at my nails and only look at what I point out which I feel is a disservice to me because I really should be screened for skin cancer in areas that I can't always see no matter how I manipulate a mirror.
have an awesome Sunday guys enjoy xo
Happy Sunday
Doc bashing outrageous prices of those famous brands is a mood :D :D
I'm down to one cup of coffee a day and started drinking several cups of tea daily. Green, white, Rooibus.
I have fallen in love with white tea.
What brand of white tea do you guys like? That's the one type I haven't quite found a favorite in yet.
Happy Sunday Dr Dray ❤️!
Love from 🇵🇹🇪🇺💖!..
Morning!
Insurance is a bunch of crooks. The money they extract from people AND think they have the authority to tell a doctor what they'll do-who went to school ? -it's insane.
Frustrating
What is the name of it?
So sad!
Same here. It gave me bumps & I rarely have outbreaks 😏
@@littlefairy9696 same for me. I almost never get pimples. This was definitely not an acne breakout, it was little red dots, and blotches all over my face.
@@randomlykaren6291 .. I'm glad my skin didn't like it, it's too pricey anyway 😅
Iced tea (black) and hot herbal tea in cool/cold weather
I have used Genifique for years and love it.
Love coffee. Love tea. Green, black and chamomile. Add apple cider vinegar, cinnamon and sweetener to chamomile in the evenings. Delish-
I love your channel Dr.Dray! What are your sunglasses recommendations? I wanna make sure I get the right ones for protection from UV rays
I’ve tried Missha Time Revolution for a serum akin to what Génifique and Estée ANR claim, and from price to ingredients and my skins response…I think it’s worth checking out!
Happy Sunday, Dr. Dray ❤
Morning!
Dr. Dray, would u consider doing a video solely about tea?? I keep seeing videos w rules (should/shouldn't do when steeping. Bags vs loose vs pouches?) Not sure what's true! Thank u! 😁🥰
I have a video on the skin benefits of different teas, but I am no tea brewing expert
@@DrDrayzday Thank u!! I watched your video but I keep hearing if u don't steep at the exact right temp, u can destroy the tea's benefits! 😂🥰
I've been a black tea fan for years, herbal teas too
Lancome came out with Genifique to compete with Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair. It doesn't even come close to it imo, in fact I found it very drying. Estee's serum is the ONLY skincare product that I spend money on.
I heard it's really good, (Estée Lauder )
one of my friends swears by it. I might have to give it a try.
Acutane changed my life (for the better) and I’m grateful for it
Dying at the random pressure wash sesh in the middle 😂
I purchased a Lancome bundle because it was only $70, which is truthfully a great deal. I got 4 skin care products, a perfume, and a few makeup items. A lot of those products were more than $70 at the individual price. That lancome serum was one of the items in the bundle. I dont have an issue with products irritating my skin, so I have no complaints! I don't find it to be magical though, so I wont ever be buying it for full price.
Why? Because the health care system in the U.S. is broken.
Yes I either drink green tea or camomille tea every morning 😊
I regularly have fissures (yes gaping) on my hands, just from being in cold water quite a bit; so-called "winter hands", right? Well, I recently got the Neutrogena perfume-free hand cream, and be careful because depending on how you apply (I am usually veeery careful), it can still sting the "wounds" that you have. Typically I use band aids (yes 10 band aids all over my fingers and thumbs LOL) to cover those and let them heal, with a little wound care on them.
Story of my life 🥲 i now use gloves for doing the dishes , and all cleaning, and it has helped alot
Vaseline over lotion helped mine. Plus it’s not as cold anymore
She also talked about using super glue
