Thank you for talking about mistakes. Mistakes are where we learn and I see a lack of correcting and avoiding common mistakes in a lot of videos. Beautiful art work ♥️
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I had a great time recreating this stone, and I gifted it to a gal in a store who just loved it. Thank you for helping me make someone's day. Your artwork is always fantastic! I wish I could attach a pic of mine, it wasn't too bad.
Rachel, YOU ROCK!!!!!! I love, love your videos, I am finally getting ready to list my Easter Eggs in my Etsy shop, Jones4Moore. I give credit to you for all of my inspiration and mention TheDottingCenter in my descriptions as well as the tools I use (stencils and silicone tools) being bought at your shop. Thank you for all you do! You are amazing!
Thank you so much for your very sweet comment! Artists like you are totally the reason I make videos. I’m happy to share ✨❤️ Have fun on your dotting journey 🤩
That was crazy. I was literally mesmerized. It was so calming to watch this. Not sure how long this actually took you, but it was a great speed for the video and I enjoyed it. And it was very pretty.
Thank you Joe! And thanks for the comment about the video speed. I'm an amateur video editor so all that stuff I'm still learning. It's good to have feedback 👍✨
Thank you for sharing your wonderful art. You are very talented. I enjoyed watching you paint. Your voice is calm and soothing, and loud enough to be heard. Many aren't. I love your beautiful little Rock. Blessings 🖌👩🎨🎨🍀🌷💖🦓🇺🇸 Liz
Great tutorial. As a neophyte in the dotting world it was helpful to view your technique. To date I have been eyeballing the design, but will give the stencil a go.
Thanks for the reminder of how doing projects are good for us. That's EXACTLY why I've started back up again. Hoping to elevate some unnecessary stress in these COVID and political times.
YES. It's like an art prescription. If you're a creative you need to make art like you need air and water. I hope you make something that makes you happy today : ) Thanks for your comment. I needed the reminder today too!
I just love your tutorials. Explaining the tools and what one's you're using and how to fix boo boos. Very excited about my stencil purchase. You've got a great support team too 💕💕I found your channel just yesterday.
Absolutely divine design...and I love how you respond to so many comments. Makes it feel just a bit more "interactive" maybe? lol...just nice to know you are reading them, makes you even more likeable if that is possible!
Love ,love ,love your videos ...you have to come back to your store ,as i must buy stuff lol . Im just learning and love to watch your recovery from mistakes Hope you make alot more videos ... hugs
I have recently become enamoured with painting rocks and dotting, and can't believe I haven't found your channel until today! I love peacock themed art, and really look forward to trying this design! And your stencil looks awesome too. Heading over to your etsy now.
Totally agree about the stencils. Love to just get to the painting part. I had purchased a ton of stencils and was struggling with how to use them. This was a very informative video for me. Also, I was trying to figure out the best paint to use for dotting and I see you use DecoArt Americana so I will try that.
Wow, that’s very nice! Thanks for sharing. How long does it take you from start to finish to make a stone like this? Also, my chalk pencil lines never erase like yours do. I really have to work at it to get them to come off.
Hi Tonja! This stone took about an hour to do. If I didn't record it I would have no idea because I "lose time" when I paint. Click the link in the description box to buy a good white chalk pencil from The Dotting Center. It will save you so much effort in the end : ) Thanks
Now that is Gorgeous,, I really love the colors you used, I love the lilacs pinks, and blues, that you used in that piece,, imy sons got some flat med to large beach stones , so once I get the varnish, I'm ready to go,thinking of doing a dotted spider on black background,, thankyou.👍🌺🌹🌻🌸🌼🌷🍂🍁
I 💜 your work! And thank you ... I received my package from your Etsy store yesterday. It will definitely take me some practice 🤭 to get the hang of it! I especially love the lil' round wooden boxes/containers thingys lol!
I think your work was absolutely beautiful,I just have to try it,can I ask,do you have to wait any time at all for the paint to dry before you move on,thankyou inadvance
New viewer here - love these - looks very relaxing and I may be ordering a few tools from you because I could never find them! I have to ask - where do you get your stones? The ones in the bags in the craft stores here seem to be small - I have a “rock/landscape” store near me - should I be looking there? Thanks for sharing!
Rebecca Henkins, I came to the comments wondering the same, so I’m following for her reply. I’m going to try a nursery/landscaping company tomorrow that I know sells these stones in bulk. Home Depot .com has 3-5 inch smooth river stones, but it will take 2 weeks to get them since they aren’t in stock at stores, and I’d rather pick them out myself and know exactly what I’m getting.
Mandy Savoy - thanks for the info - I had not seen the comment. But I will check my local “Pebble Junction” which is a landscaping rock company that’s open to the public and I will see what have and then also look at Lowes and Home Depot. The craft store stones are just too small for me and my eyes! LOL
Beautiful Rachel, and I love the offset centre. I'm over the moon because I've just remembered my daughter left her chalkboard paints with me years ago and I never realised they could be used for dotting surfaces! Will make sure I seal them with varnish. Does it make removing chalk marks easier too?
The chalkboard paint really just helps with drawing the lines better. The type of chalk pencil you use determines how easily it can be removed. I don't like anything that makes lines that have to be scrubbed off at the end. That's no fun. The chalk pencils I have at The Dotting Center wash off easy peezy. 😊
WOOOW~ ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I 💘 THE DIFFERENT SHAPES YOURE USING~ Not All Round Dots~ AND OF COURSE THE COLORS ARE STUNNING! Also, the tools you've got make creating purrfect dots SO easy because you've got some leeway with the amount of pressure being used... With a brush your pressure MUST be extremely consistent oorrr your dots will be all over the place! Anyway, YOU make it look SO Easy, Fun And Relaxing! The only thing I noticed that was missing from Your Supplies: SPARKLE... GLITTER OR MICA OORRR EVEN SOME LITTLE RHINESTONES GLUED ON! Well, that's MY Thing, anyway. Thanks so much for sharing your talent and expertise! 🐈

I use all acrylic paints. I don’t discriminate between inexpensive and expensive. I use all brands and all consistencies. If you use dotting tools use fluid paints, if you use applicator bottles use thicker body paints. 😉💕👍
Thanks for watching! I use Arteza, Golden, and DecoArt mostly. This stone used mostly Arteza mixed with Liquitex pouring medium 1:1. That's why the dots are so plump
@@TheDottingCenter Thank you lol, So,..You're the culprit that got me addicted to Arteza products😊! ....... Guess now I'll have to get some liquitex!! 😊🤗😘,... Love your tutorials💕
Where do you get the rocks? Do you have a beginners video at all? What kind of paint did you use for the base coat. You mentioned the color but what kind of paint for the base?
Oooh! I’ve never tried tempura paint with dotting! I would worry about cracking. If it’s too brittle or cracks, try acrylics 👍 Let me know how it goes!
I didn’t make a video because I was too freaked out the whole time 😂 I didn’t want to mess it up. I used spray chalk paint and my 1/4 panel divider stencil to get the guidelines. Before you take the hardware off, trace the outlines of everything so you don’t paint underneath. Then paint and seal with a tough varnish 👍✨Good luck!
@@TheDottingCenter Last year Lowes carried them but I didn't get any :( So far this year they haven't stocked them yet. But, I will keep on checking tho. I thought that they may have stopped carrying them. Thank you for answering me.
I guess it depends on what tools you’re using? Most enamel paints are oil based requiring mineral spirits to clean the tools. I’m not sure how acrylic tools would hold up. Also enamel paints can be very fluid and might be hard to control. Try it! I’d love to hear how it went.
