Beautiful Rachel, and I love the offset centre. I'm over the moon because I've just remembered my daughter left her chalkboard paints with me years ago and I never realised they could be used for dotting surfaces! Will make sure I seal them with varnish. Does it make removing chalk marks easier too?
The chalkboard paint really just helps with drawing the lines better. The type of chalk pencil you use determines how easily it can be removed. I don't like anything that makes lines that have to be scrubbed off at the end. That's no fun. The chalk pencils I have at The Dotting Center wash off easy peezy. 😊
That was crazy. I was literally mesmerized. It was so calming to watch this. Not sure how long this actually took you, but it was a great speed for the video and I enjoyed it. And it was very pretty.

I use all acrylic paints. I don’t discriminate between inexpensive and expensive. I use all brands and all consistencies. If you use dotting tools use fluid paints, if you use applicator bottles use thicker body paints. 😉💕👍
Thanks for watching! I use Arteza, Golden, and DecoArt mostly. This stone used mostly Arteza mixed with Liquitex pouring medium 1:1. That's why the dots are so plump

I didn’t make a video because I was too freaked out the whole time 😂 I didn’t want to mess it up. I used spray chalk paint and my 1/4 panel divider stencil to get the guidelines. Before you take the hardware off, trace the outlines of everything so you don’t paint underneath. Then paint and seal with a tough varnish 👍✨Good luck!
Oooh! I’ve never tried tempura paint with dotting! I would worry about cracking. If it’s too brittle or cracks, try acrylics 👍 Let me know how it goes!

Yeah, that can happen sometimes. You can always keep some base coat in your palette to reapply if it gets removed. I know a lot of artists like to seal first : )

Like so many of theses videos the camera is dead center of the stone so we see the back of her hand when/where she places the paint. Not a good view. If you put the rock on a glass with a wet paper towel under it, you can spin the rock without it falling off, PLUS we can see where you put those dots way down the side of the rock. I think you dragged the paint a bit, but not really sure.
Thank you for your feedback. I agree with you 100%, lol. This was one of my very first videos so my photography skills have come a long way since then. If you look at some of my newer videos I've been able to fix this top down issue : )

Rebecca Henkins, I came to the comments wondering the same, so I’m following for her reply. I’m going to try a nursery/landscaping company tomorrow that I know sells these stones in bulk. Home Depot .com has 3-5 inch smooth river stones, but it will take 2 weeks to get them since they aren’t in stock at stores, and I’d rather pick them out myself and know exactly what I’m getting.

But I will check my local “Pebble Junction” which is a landscaping rock company that’s open to the public and I will see what have and then also look at Lowes and Home Depot. The craft store stones are just too small for me and my eyes! LOL

Also, the tools you've got make creating purrfect dots SO easy because you've got some leeway with the amount of pressure being used... With a brush your pressure MUST be extremely consistent oorrr your dots will be all over the place! Anyway, YOU make it look SO Easy, Fun And Relaxing! I guess it depends on what tools you’re using? Most enamel paints are oil based requiring mineral spirits to clean the tools. I’m not sure how acrylic tools would hold up. Also enamel paints can be very fluid and might be hard to control. Try it! I’d love to hear how it went.
Hi Ismail! I'm not sure where you can buy them in Iran but you can try local art groups on Facebook. Maybe other artists can help you find a local supplier.
Can you use other tools like the end of a folded out paper clip, a sharp pencil, the head of a sharp pin even the end of a scarf pin , or the pearl end of a sewing pin, a can opener sharp end, a match stick end, end of a paint brush up side down , see any other tools you can think of in your home...try some by practice...I just know you can do it ..... I have faith in you ....

I use all kinds of paints. Even some of the cheap ones are good. Bad ones I don’t use. I like Arteza, DecoArt, FolkArt, CractSmart, Lumiere, Pebeo, Liquitex, Golden... girrrl I use them all. 💕

Opaque just means not transparent, so opaque paint won't show the chalk line underneath. 🙂

Yes, you can use a varnish. I like Liquitex Varnish, but any brand of acrylic varnish will work for indoor use.

Do you purchase your rocks or go 'rock picking'? I am having trouble sourcing sizable stones to work on.
I buy my rocks at Lowe’s landscaping center. I like Mexican beach pebbles because they’re nice and smoooooth. 👍
@@TheDottingCenter Last year Lowes carried them but I didn't get any :( So far this year they haven't stocked them yet. But, I will keep on checking tho. I thought that they may have stopped carrying them. Thank you for answering me.

Can I use enamel acrylic paint?
I guess it depends on what tools you’re using? Most enamel paints are oil based requiring mineral spirits to clean the tools. I’m not sure how acrylic tools would hold up. Also enamel paints can be very fluid and might be hard to control. Try it! I’d love to hear how it went.

Hi Ismail! I'm not sure where you can buy them in Iran but you can try local art groups on Facebook. Maybe other artists can help you find a local supplier.
Can you use other tools like the end of a folded out paper clip, a sharp pencil, the head of a sharp pin even the end of a scarf pin , or the pearl end of a sewing pin, a can opener sharp end, a match stick end, end of a paint brush up side down , see any other tools you can think of in your home...try some by practice...I just know you can do it ..... I have faith in you ....

What kind of paints do you use
I use all kinds of paints. Even some of the cheap ones are good. Bad ones I don’t use. I like Arteza, DecoArt, FolkArt, CractSmart, Lumiere, Pebeo, Liquitex, Golden... girrrl I use them all. 💕
