- Sonic Wings 2 review. Classic Game Room reviews SONIC WINGS 2 for Neo-Geo CD, also known as AERO FIGHTERS 2 for Neo-Geo MVS. Sonic Wings 2 from SNK and Video System was released in 1994 and plays like a traditional vertical scrolling 2D SHMUP (Shoot 'em up) where you blow up everything that moves with airplanes!

God, I loved this entire series. I think one of the secret bosses in Aero Fighters 3 was a giant rabbit.
Need to pick this one up, looks rad.

4:15 - My favorite in my childhood years since the arcade (MVS) version.
It's also worth noting that the final boss in this game is an evil tablecloth.

I was thinking that this was going to be a review of some obscure Sonic the Hedgehog game I have never heard of...
Something i really love about this game is how it follows some of the stories of the first release, for example, see that weird Robot guy in the character select screen? He was supposedly dead on the first game but in this one he reappears on it, along with 2 or 3 other characters from the first one.
Music in this one compared to the Aerofighters port in the Snes is kinda weak, but it gets the job done for me.
Overalls, Sonic Wings 2 is pretty decent and i can pop this game any time c:

The Dolphin's name in the American version is "Spanky". Just as cute!

I sure am glad that these games are available on MAME, so you don't have to pay a lot of money to collect them just to be able to play them.

@WHITEEAGLEns Ah, thanks for the info. I never did play the game in multiplayer (and my used copy did not come with a manual :( ), so I missed out on that. Time to rectify that.
I always play as the dolphin, it's just the best shmup character ever.
Ths can also be downloaded as a ps1 classic on PSN. Great game! It's one of the few shmups that I can (almost) 1cc.

I have this game on SNES but I think that port is missing some of the fighters.

I played the SNES version way back when and I thought it was totally average. I assume this version is leagues better.

I used to spend so much money on this in the arcade. It was pretty much the first shmup I played in an arcade when I was little. Then as I got older I went on to more of Cave's danmaku(bullet hell/barrage) games, but Aero Fighters 2 will always have that soft spot for me for its quirkiness. :)

Whity of course😎 but in terms of their gameplay I definitely prefer the baby since he has a wide spread
