    This video is to show you how to make a simple 3 channel LED chaser using transistors.

    ◾ Used Components -
    1. Resistors -
    R1 = 10-20KΩ
    R2 = 10-20KΩ
    R3 = 10-20KΩ
    R4 = 1-2KΩ
    R5 = 1-2KΩ
    R6 = 1-2KΩ
    R7 = 1-2KΩ
    R8 = 1-2KΩ
    R9 = 1-2KΩ
    R10 = 10-15KΩ
    R11 = 10-15KΩ
    R12 = 10-15KΩ
    R13 = 10-100KΩ
    2. Transistors -
    Q1 = BC547
    Q2 = BC547
    Q3 = BC547
    Q4 = BC547
    Q5 = BC547
    Q6 = BC547
    3. Capacitors -
    C1 = 22-100uF
    C2 = 22-100uF
    C3 = 22-100uF

    Hi, I have a few questions if you could help out with these please...
    1) what's the max input voltage this circuit will work on (I wanted to 9v or 12v psu 1.5a / 2a)?
    2) What is the maximum number of LED's per channel this circuit will allow (I wanted to use upto 30-40 per channel)?
    and finally 3) If I wanted to have a completely ON/Static function (eg they flash so fast that they appear static/on), how could this be achieved?

      I haven't the schematic, but for what I have seen, there isn't any "base protection" so you cant exceed 6V that is the maximum base voltage (VBE) for the BC547. Instead the maximum number of led that you can put in parallel is limitated to the maximum collector current (Ic) of the BC547, that is about 800mA, so teorically you can put 80 LED in parallel foreach channel, teorically because the thermical drift could destroy all your LEDs, so pay attention, or change the circuit.

    How much dc votage we can give this circuit .
    Because im planing to make led chaser star using ur idea.
    But i had 60 leds 3 × 20 .
    Im thinking ac to dc simple converter to power up these led's
    Will it burn ur circuit
    Can u suggest better way to make my idea possible...

      Yes.
      I would suggest 100k Potentiometer for this project.

      This might be the high voltage problem. You should decrease the voltage a bit.

      So you are asking why I had not shown the actual value of resistor.
      Every one does not have the similar value resistor. So I had shown a perfect workable value of resistor.

      The LEDs that I had used consumes very low energy. If you are using this type of LEDs then you can put about 3x20 LEDs on the circuit.

    I was wondering if anyone can help me please. I've built the circuit using R1-R3 4.7k, R4-R9 1.5k, R10-R12 10K and R13 as is but also with 100K as suggested in the comments.
    Although the circuit works and I can see the LEDs fade a little while cycling through, they don't go out completely like in the video.
    Could anyone advise what I've done wrong or what I'm missing? I suspect it might be the resistor values and maybe I should use higher ones, but would really appreciate it of anyone here could help out as I'm not an expert in this field.

      Use 47uF capacitors, use R1, R2, R3 = 10K, use R7, R8, R9 = 1-5K and use R10, R11, R12 = 20-50K
      And can you say what you are using for power supply.

      ES tech knowledge , hi, thanks for the reply, I’m using usb power at the moment 5v as I’ve not got a 4v supply. Ideally I’d like to power off a 12v or 9v if possible as these adaptors are common in the UK market.
      But yes I will certainly try as you have said unless you have other suggestions depending on the power supply?
