This is terrible man. I had a Bearded Dragon that died for no reason that I could tell. I have no doudt in had an undiagnosed health issue. Its hard not knowing why. Just know it is not your fault, health can fail in anything.

The joys of breeding snakes, I'm afraid it's one of those gambles we take when breeding any snakes , I always tell new keepers , the best way to kill a snake is breeding one , my two oldest snakes are both 33 ,never been bred or have any problems in that time.
But I've had my share of losses from breeding many snakes over the years , always a sad situation.

So sorry for your loss. It is really heartbreaking to loose an animal. Maybe a necropsy would have determine the cause. The not knowing can weigh heavy.

Just some ideas for you; bowel or uterine perforation could cause that much fluid. I also wonder about stillbirth and subsequent sepsis. Especially with the condition of the baby that did come out. I’d really consider sepsis because the symptoms are very hard to catch in snakes and can take any female animal down really fast. I’d also worry about uterine twisting or prolapse internally could also cause that. It could also just be genetic; her body might have attacked the babies due to genetic misdirection and caused this to happen. Are you going to get a necropsy done? Just trying to share from my perspective as a female myself who’s bred animals and offer some potential answers. Everything I mentioned; you couldn’t have done anything. It’s not your fault. Birth is one of the hardest things any female body can go through. She was a beautiful snake that you obviously loved. RIP.

Thank you. I live with 4 females and will be the first to admit, I know very little about them lol. The only other penis in the house, is my dog Bodhi. On a positive note, the baby is still alive and took a meal no problem. I expect a shed any day (it ate prior to its first shed). I didn’t get a necropsy done just due to the cost of getting one done here. At least at the current time. I just had surgery, still need back surgery, and my wife has some serious health challenges. But I appreciate the comments and insight 🫶

@@GodboldExotics I completely understand; necropsy is quite expensive and can be difficult to find a skilled vet to do it. I pray for a swift recovery on your surgery and your wife good health in the future. I also hope Satan’s Helper’s little spawn survives and thrives.

That’s hard news 😢, i loved your story about her character!
Got this myself way back, my big WC girl (thamnophis radix) off 5 years in my care laid the orange slugs (15 orzo) and died a day later, always kept thinking what went wrong?!
    Keep it up!🤞
