But people still build their shacks in lowlying areas in summer not tsking into account that in winter the area will be flooded.
Remember that many of these folks don't have running water or power. Sometimes it is easier to be closer to water at least. The blame here lies with government (whatever that is right now). Haven't they promised people safe and affordable housing? Where is government for these people now? Why does only a non profit have to help them?
However, the government told them that the terrain was not conducive to building housing. They went on because of Malema, who told them that they must take land without compensation. I can assure you that they build their houses in wetlands. Do you blame the government for their ignorance?
This settlement was there before malema. Stop blaming the man. What did the western cape government do for them after telling them not to build there@@Sihawukelwe
@@Born_A_Star Enjoy your spupifaction
Built on stolen land now complaining that the government doesn't provide houses, what a lag
Where is the EFF that encouraged these people to squaut where ever they want😮😮😢😢
Blame the DA
Are you stupid 😂😂😂blaming eff on DA place
@Born_A_Star Yes they are to blame for allowing these theives to steal ancestral land that never belonged to them.
Ain't this DA territory you 🐓 sucker
What's annoying is how when these displaced people are removed from this area, there'll be new ones coming in. It's a never ending cycle.
Appreciate Gift of the Givers so much but what about GOVERNMENT
I agree the always blame the D A .If you vote A N C read about your constitution. By law the must supply homes to everyone,.If all the stolen money was returned there would be money for homes .They drive fancy cars live in free houses.Dont pay electric ity and they still steal from the poor.Hold them accountable..
EXACTLY...100 ”’% MY POINT ! ! !
AGREE 100%
i dont understand why we have the same issues every winter. preparation must be done during warmer days so when the winter weather hits these issues are sorted out.No man think leaders.
True
Its low areas thats why its there home noone wants to move and the gov dont need that ground as its river beds so they wont be develloped ever
Wetlands don't dry up, and people are taking land without compensation 😢😢
This homelessness crisis must not be even an issue considering someone spend 27yrs in prison fighting for people’s independence.
This homelessness crisis must not be even an issue considering someone spend 27yrs in prison fighting for people’s independence.
Shame Vanessa is cold u can see she feeling the shivers it's cold here in Jozi can imagine how these folks feeling hope all get warm shelter soon thanks to the gift of the givers
Feel sorry for the poor animals😢
Thanks to Vanessa, a brave woman.
Those residents are living in swampy areas (in normal winter conditions, Zantedeschia aethiopica growing everywhere). There is a high water table where they live. It is not possible to drain the water table so the swamps ensue.
Hope the down pour is not severe for these people. I grew up in Cape Town in heideveld and are used to cape winter weather. At least there weather warnings to prepare for the worst. Just imagine other parts of South Africa where there is absolutely no warning
@@rinky17888 Yes,we have been sent warnings and we have been given phone numbers to contact in cases of emergencies. The DA is invariably prepared for these kind of things.Throughout the year Stormwater drains are continually been cleaned and cleared of debris so that water can flow in the streets rather than dam up.
I know there is alot of people right now who help please help her also🙏
Those places aren't environments for building informal homes. Infrastructure is important. They should never have built there. Sorry not sorry. You can't make poor choices and then expect others to help you when it inevitably fails. People have been warning about these informal settlements for decades and every year it's the same thing. Insanity. Literally.
Why dont the council clean the drains from time to time ,the drains are full that's why the is no where for the water to go
I really feel sorry for these people and the conditions they live in. - I see there are now complaints about the DA!!! As if they themselves let these people live in houses which are informal housing and which they came to erect themselves. Now I'm not completely stupid, but as far as I understand, a house plan and plot must first be approved by the municipality. After it is built to specifications, you pay local taxes to that municipal area where you live and only then are you entitled to the services and assistance offered.....
The solution for these people will be to move as soon as possible to Gauteng or another province, where the ruling party is the ANC and will take care of them. Surely it cannot be that difficult to move these types of houses to another place ,,,,,. There isn't even a foundation...
I think Eastern Cape is dry
Lord have mercy on South Africa because if we are not prepared for a mere storm like this one how much more when intense weathers come like hurricanes and tornadoes etc...
Sorry, where are the homeless and what is happening with them. Pls do us favor by visiting them.
@@dikeledirapelwana7450 Shelters have been built for the homeless and the City of Cape Town under the DA does much to try to reunite the homeless with their families but many chose to remain homeless and do not want to go to the shelters because they don't like to abide by the rules.
Check out the homeless shelter in Muizenburg.
THE PEOPLE WANTED TO STAY IN THIS SITUATIONS THEY KEEPING ON PUTTING HOKKIES AND EVERY YEARS THEY HAVE THIS CRISIS SO SAD
It is moments like these when my privilege is blatantly clear. I feel so ashamed, our people are really suffering.
Why feel ashamed because you are privileged??
😂😂😂 Dude, the anc had 30 years to make all those promises come true, but they were to busy wearing thier million rand salary privilege instead of building a nation 😂😂..
And they still keep voting anc but go and move to a DA run council 😂.
Finally another human being. So many of these other comments are cruel and repulsive.
Where is the DANC?? They need to builds roads and proper infrastructure for these ppl. Where are the emergency feeding schemes.
@@justrandom4304 A lot of these people are living in informal settlements-they chose to build their shacks in dangerous places-some on railway lines-some on river banks-some on sand dunes without any authorisation.Normally infrastructure is put in place before suburbs are built not afterwards. Why blame the DA again? What about Kwa Zulu Natal when they had their Floods shortly after the elections??I didnt see anything in the news about the leading politicians in those areas going to help the people.
Father in Jesus Name thank you for amazing Gift of the givers and pray for these poor displaced people to be helped and Lord for this rain to stop. Bless all victims and all commentating and Bless all involved Thank You Lord
Amen
Move😂, the wise man build his house on ...I wil stay here someone will help, wash away. It is concerning that this happens over and over. There was no precautions cause we were in droughts...now we complain
Every year the same story... Yet these people don't prep in summer... They are talking about being poor yet each hok has a satellite dish, they have clothing accounts "but yet poor" please help me understand that. I know there are people out there who are genuinely underprivileged. 😢
@flowerflower don't look at the dish .Joy in those shacks .No electric most times .Think how we can help .Put these people in shelter
^will they move some where else they so comfortable no bond no rent no rates really
Respect highly Earned and the Humanitarian aid /help and precious-Time dedicated from the Donars. & Everyone involved. ❤
Yhor sorry for those people but thanks for gift of the givers please if you can also give a hand to a woman living in Newfields 22 Andrews road this is only house that is like a small pool at moment she is carrying out buckets of water please help her 🙏🙏
Why can't the community not helped her as u given only one person's address. If u start the process other will following u by helping. Start a whatsupp group and asked for helped.
So what is the solution of this problem because all settlement are in this problem so what the government say
People are milking the situation, those people look all well fed, if you can stand in line for food then there nothing wrong with you
I'm so grateful for the weather but i also pray for people in bad situations
Something has to be done for these poor people. Please help them
So sad.wish this community can be moved to a better place
It's pointless to move people, they will rebuild in the same spot.
all this comes down to a lack of service delivery, we need to keep the long term strategy in sight, so that extreme weather does not compromise communities to this degree in future.
I really feel sorry for these people ......But, really these kinds of reports from the SABC are unnecessary!! Who is the cause of this?
These people live in housing that they themselves erected without any authorization?
Often without electricity ,without water AND in areas that are low lying and will naturally be flooded when it pours with rain.We won't talk about those that are built on top of sand dunes.A lot of these are INFORMAL SETTLEMENTS in which people chose to build without any procedures in place for safety etc.
Some people put up shacks there to avoid paying rent and electricity.
Exactly! Just like you say!
Exactly... I'm at a point where I don't feel sorry for them... Cis they go plak illegally!
Exactly I'm at a point where I don't feel sorry for these people anymore... Cos they plak illegally!!!
Tornado hit Mitchell's plain before escalated to khayelitsha but no assistance from gift of the givers etc
And khayalitsha gets the most free funding ma the highest crime rate. When natural desaster strike the whole country must cry with them Eastern Cape is your home right??
Sad how many people are affected by severe weather.
Eish this is really bad😢😢😢
West coust we do have electricity very bad
Where is the minister of human settlements in all this? Not a peep out of her. Why is she not interviewed? Where are the plans to rid this country ofso called informal settlements which is just an euphemism for squatter camps. I people deserve better than to live in these squallid conditions year in and year out. It is a national situation not a provincial one for which a national plan of action is required urgently!
With respect, Cape Town and most Western Cape towns are full. All these people are moving to the province from Eastern Cape and putting up shacks in dangerous areas like this and then local and provincial government gets blamed. Must we sacrifice our farms and botanical gardens for people to build shacks on safely because they insist on moving to a DA province?
@@delaneycloete5920 You missed that I said it is a national situation requiring a national. I agree fully that the Western Cape and specifically Cape Town cannot deal with large numbers of people moving here. The solution lies in developing rural towns, providing employment there so people will not be forced to leave to look for employment in the cities.
Not once ever heard of anc or da doing anything to help when disaster srikes
What about the poor animals?
😐
🫵🏿 are a 🤡
Accommodation for 4000 people is a big task, where can we put them?
May Allah swt give ease Aameen
It's k@k cold ☃
Come on man. It's just winter! It's not that bad!
Can someone please see that that dog in this video is protected from the cold too😢
Always gift of the givers to the rescue. Algamdulila .
Please save South Africa from doom
Wheres DA?
Who is reporting here?
SABC or Gift of the Givers?
😢
Why do we haev a department is human settlements at National if they don't do anything???
But does the DA not said that, that is a well run Province
Don't be stupid. They don't control the weather. And if the Eastern Cape stayed in the Eastern Cape then everybody would be better of
The DA did not build those shacks!
Those are informal settlements. Can’t blame the DA for people taking unnecessary risks
It not the DA fault, if the anc stopped looting the money for RDP houses, land, development and creating jobs this would not be an issue for people..
@@Cent51😂You honestly think DA is for a free housing program like RDPs?
Lol
Whey didn't you go to Tafelsig but always there
Close the schools for this week
Cant they rise the shacks and build it on high foundation so they are not affected.
Send them to Johannes burg dry
Who? Why? When? How? Stupidity really has no bounds.
The plan i have will help the western cape. If the D A start to implement the plan you can make a big difference in the next 4years but unfortunately people live in a McDonalds mindset. Order now and then get your food.
The current problem will continue for the next 50 to 100 years if the plan does not get executed.
The problem is too many red tape.
Red tape and money keep the people in the dark and its time for people to put pressure and a focus on housing.
I think i have a practical plan to start fixing this problem.
Its a joke, for 30years nothing has been done. Only taking from the poor.
We want to SEE and touch the changes.
🙌🙏🙏🙏
I think this whether is going to level 9 tomorrow morning
😢😢😢
Nature is Unpredictable and it’s Winter
Weather Conditions Just as Bad in Summer with Heat Waves
So Take every Season there is 4 Seasons and make the Best of it.
Ppl was supposed to avoided staying in informal settlement. We make our choice and now blame DA and government bcz we don't want to pay even R1 of rent.
Everybody says pray pray pray.. Lol, pray way before hand every day for things like this not to happen and see whether those prayers will be answered.. Don't pray after the fact..
32 years stealing weres the houses anc
Barrels ❤🎉
It is JIBBER
Anc and eff man were are they
Rian is heavy prays are going out
Anc where's the stolen money
I wonder where's EFF there people there swimming now😢
They should not build there think before u build man
Anc is 😂 at u guys so next vote ,vote and again and eff malema is 😂 guys
And the DA is doing nothing to help sis maan
How do you know?
And you? What are you doing? The DA don't control the weather
The Government is supposed to give people homes .What are they doing? A N C
@@teresagillmer9464The DA gets blamed for everything that goes wrong in this country-even poor weather conditions😢😢The ANC as NATIONAL GOVERNMENT has a lot more responsibility and accountability than what the Provincial Government does because it is National Government that is responsible for housing etc and that has drastically cut the budget of the Western Cape (in all spheres-housing,education,hhealth police etc.)
Are you sure ? Coming from a Jacob Zuma supporter I'm not surprised by your comment. Why didn't Jacob stop the recent tornado in KZN ? And by the way, if you CHOOSE to put shacks in unserviced, dangerous areas, you will have such issues. Don't make dumb comments !
Tell DA
Under the neath 😂
DA
The Lord said " because you, SA, have cursed my people (taken Israel to court over gaza) because of this I have lifted my hand off your land" given by prophet ubert angel
Oh yes, the Lord does not like it when Genocide is challenged in court.
Anc fail, Anc build only 3 million homes in 27 years 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 ask Your Anc why cant build 1million homes in year 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
