Anyone else find ways to limit their internet consumption? Curious what others have done!

I have tried so many things - nothing has stuck so far! My current thing is to just delete the apps I am looking to use less. If I really want to use the app I have to install it and then use it. That level of friction usually kills the 'quick peek that becomes a wormhole' type behaviour.

My work and hobbies heavily involve the internet, communication, posting, and utilizing various devices. There have been times when I found myself glued to a screen from the moment I woke up to when I closed my eyes at night. Initially, I believed this constant connectivity was simply part of the 'grind,' and to some extent, it is. However, what truly facilitated my transition from excessive screen time to a more balanced approach, while still maintaining productivity, was establishing structured schedules for each task, albeit with some flexibility. That means setting time to enjoy or try a new hobby (at the moment it's making coffee/tea) and understanding that this is also a part of my overall growth as a creator.

I keep trying and failing. The only successful stint I had was two months & that time I did it cold turkey. After that, I thought that was a mistake & I tried the slow approach. It doesn’t even stick for 3 days.

Love what you said about wanting life to be a little more analog. It's such a hard habit to kick! But I love the idea of putting everything down in journals.

    Everything in moderation.
I find that people who have poor reasoning skills and self assessment skills have the most difficulty in switching out old, hard habits for better, healthier ones.
There's a very common saying that goes, "You can't reason someone out of a position that they didn't reason themselves into."
I find that irrespective of a person's financial success and even intelligence & aptitude in their own fields, most people don't burden their minds with things that they've personally assigned zero worth to, whether they admit to it or not.
Change won't come unless you truly want it for yourself and not for anyone else's sake.
As I grow old, keep learning new things and hopefully becoming wiser in life, one thing that becomes clear is how messed up the majority people are in this world.
Almost everyone has suffered some sort of trauma in life. Be it physical, mental, emotional , psychological.
Even if you have the financial means to afford a therapist visit, it stills requires cooperation, willingness for change and truthfulness on your part. Not to mention that time and emotional energy are a luxury that even some of the most financially secure can't afford.
Start working on your logical reasoning and critical thinking skills now and start preparing yourself for the hardships of an uncertain future.
Self introspection and a passion for learning will take you very far in life, even if it doesn't solve every single one of your problems.
When you work to better yourself, others who are in the same boat are attracted to your hard work and unite in reaching shared goals.
Always value education, be critical of your preconceived notions and biases. Stop pathologizing normal behavior and end the cycle of self abuse that was beaten into you by abusive, authoritarian adults in your life.
