This might seem crazy but Saturday mornings I just look 80s and 90s cartoons and just watch thinking about when cereal came with prizes inside oh the good old days
I was 11 years old in '88 and this was really the last year I watched SMC. I think when I turned 12 cartoons no longer appealed to my mind. Now, I'm 43 and nostaglia helps get through the lockdowns and quarantines. Peace to all
Oh.... my.... God. I was 5 years old. I can actually FEEL what is was like watching this. Never hit this level of nostalgia before. Thank you for sharing 😥
I was 8/9 when this was on. I remember how innocent those times were. So peaceful. I wish I could go back to these times when I was a child and I had no worries and no anxiety like I do now. Every day was a new day for adventure and fun! Everything was exciting and new! Now, in my 40’s, it’s so dull and things are perfunctory and basic. Work consumes my life all week and the only thing I look forward to is the weekend.
The late 80s were the best. ☺️📺 After Saturday morning cartoons me my Mother and Grandmother would go to the mall and shop at department stores like Sears and K mart.
Same! JC Penny, Elder Beerman, my grandma would always look at curtains but would never decide on any and buy them lol. I'd buy her any and every curtain available to just go one more time with her.
I was 8 in 1988. I love all the Saturday morning cartoons. Grab my cereal my cabbage patch doll. Sit in front of the tv and enjoy the drama free zone. Kids just dont know about that kind of peace and serinty now adays. ❤❤❤❤ I miss them days so much. 😢
Aaahhh, yes, this definitely took me back to 1988!!! I LOVED My Pet Monster, but I don't remember the clowns of happytown. This was a wonderful period in my life, where i had yet to start school, & I spent everyday playing & watching cartoons!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀

I was 4 in 1988. I forgot about some of the commercials until they started and the memories came flooding back! I miss those days ❤ Thanks for uploading!
I guess my ABC affiliate had a different lineup He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was part of the line up along with Transformers but I don’t remember My Pet Monster or Little Wizards. If I remember correctly it was Carebears, Pound Puppies, Transformers, Scooby Doo (the original series), He-Man, The Real Ghostbusters, The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and ended with their O.G Readmoore block where he would introduce a movie based off a book like Ralph and the Motorcycle.
It really was a beautiful time. Seems almost magical now. I was born in 1994. I truly feel sorry for today's kids. Those times kids were kids today kids are adults. Gosh I would give anything to go back. I wish we could show the new generation what they are missing but sadly most of these can't be found anywhere now. They only exist in our memories and in our hearts. How times change. 😔
1988-89 Saturday Morning overview: Just as the networks gave in to years of lobbying from parental groups and put an end to all violence on Saturday morning programs, syndicated cartoons came along offering up violence galore. This marked the beginning of the end for the golden age of Saturday morning programming. 'The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles', 'GI Joe', 'Jem', 'Thundercats', 'Strawberry Shortcake' and other cartoons started flooding local weekday afternoon schedules. Almost every popular kid show in 1988 had product tie-ins. Typically, the product came first and then the cartoon series was offered to TV stations at a loss - because the programs were just one long commercial! Parental groups became even more distressed by this new trend. By the end of the 1988-89 season, NBC talked openly about replacing Saturday morning cartoons with the 'Today Show' because they couldn't compete with violent cartoons airing on independent stations and cable. NBC finally did give up in 2001, selling their Saturday mornings to The Discovery Channel. By then, CBS had given over its Saturday morning programming to Nick, Jr.
I remember when I was a kid, I use to watch the Bugs Bunny An Tweety Show as well as the New Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh .Use to watch ABC all the time on Saturday mornings cause we didnt have cable t.v. one time in my household. But this brings back tons of memories of my childhood thanks for uploading this ABC Saturday Morning Line Up Part 1 from 1988, I was only 3 yrs old.
Glory days of television when cartoons were cartoons 1988 was such a good year so it was all the 80s and 70s cartoons from they were just wonderful times😢 good memories
Oh wow I forgot all about those 3 singers with the hair that say back to these messages we'll be right back it's crazy how happy that makes me just seeing that
I finally found a place to admit for the last 30 years on random days songs like "After these messages we'll be riiight back." I'm just a Bill, Conjunction junction what's your function. The electric 💡 company, and way to maaaaany many more pop my head for no damn reason other than I guess the marketing people knew how to get you hooked😏 P.S. By the way, anybody know any place I could go to chat with others about things like Dic and dude on a typewriter, or Sit boo boo sit.....good dog.
