I remember visiting my Aunt Fredda Mae house on holidays or any given weekend and she would start drinking her favorite drink Cook's champagne with 🍓's. She would then begin to play her husband records all night long. All the family would gather in the living room dancing and laughing. I miss those days 😪 😞. Yes my Aunt Fredda was married to Hound Dog Taylor.
@@clarissahorne3380 Yeah...But what a legacy to have a connection with. I've heard of him but I know less about him than other Bluesmen. This vid popping up...I should know more... Long Live Hound Dog Taylor... Long Live You Too!
@8sun52 I agree 👍🏽 his musical ear is unmatched and artistry should have been celebrated more. I am thankful to know that I am connected as well. Thank you for your caring ❤️
Saw him in DC at a folk fest on the Capitol mall. Ran a mile when I heard that slide (thought it was Butterfield doing Yonders Wall) and got in front of the loudest band I EVER saw, Houndog relaxed and the music coming out with seemingly no effort, just pure pleasure to share Made a huge impact and still one of the great shows ever for me.
Wow!!! After 40 years of being a fan, and learning heaps of his songs, I finally see the Hound Doggy live in concert!!! INSANE!!! Raw and essentials rockin' blues!
OMG! Check out this drummer - Odie Payne! I don't know anythng about technique but this guy is unique. First, he isn't crouched over his kit, he sits up and with what looks like a traditional grip, strokes with his arms pretty much at his side - a lot of wrist. There is so much action in his rhythm, he is in such a groove and he looks entirely relaxed. I don't know how his kit is set up and I can't distinguish what he is using but the rhythm is incredible. Tried to get some background and know that he backed up a lot of blues acts and some R&R (Chuck Berry) at Chess. And now gone, probably from late nights on the road in those smokey clubs. Watch him bob his head on one chorus because he can't restrain himself. Wish I could source some more of his recordings but nobody kept track of all that session work in the 50's and early 60's. Odie Payne, you are a real artist.
This is my man all time. The founder of punk blues. But this is before the Houserockers. I hope you rekognize the harpplayer, the one and only Little Walter. Wow.
beyond cool...got into The Hound after watching The Rum Diaries a few years ago ...there was no live footage on UA-cam of The Hound back then. Now there is. Happy days. The Hound is the greatest.

Wow... thanks. What a time that was...You were young but do you remember Hound Dog Taylor being there sometimes?
@8sun52 Unfortunately, I never had the chance to meet him. This was in the 90's many years after he had already past away.

Caring was easy...
Take care Clarissa...
Hound dog had six fingers, Magic Slim had four fingers, I can’t tell if I should cut a finger off or grow a new one.
So Magic Slim wouldn’t be offended if Hound Dog gave him the finger 👍🎸🤣
Supposedly Hound Dog cut one of the extra nubs off when he was quite drunk one night. Just something I read somewhere, not sure if true.
😂😂😂
MAGIC.
The beauty of UA-cam! Love Hound Dog, and get to SEE him play! 🥰
Wow !
Fun to see him in such a subdued setting.

I’ve been a fan of Hound Dog Taylor’s for years, and it’s a delight to see this concert of his. He was the REAL DEAL!

Check him out at the Ann Arbor Blues Festival. It's here on YT.
I saw this American Folk Blues festival in Bristol, England. Still the most memorable concert of my life. Thanks for posting.

I thought the performance was made in a TV studio. Was this an outdoor concert? What a great experience for you. You must have been a kid!
Happy Birthday Hound Dog Taylor🎂🎸04-12-2022
It’s criminal that this only has 74k views. Though I’m certain the youtube algorithm will make this wildly popular in 5 years.
it has begun.
