Siobhan, go raibh maith agat! I have learned the Hail Mary in Gaelic! That was my original goal when I began studying Irish! My mother would be so proud! You rock, Siobhan!
A wonderful idea. Learn Hail Mary to begin with and incorporate into the rosary then learn and gradually incorporate the other prayers 🙏. Thankyou very much for this idea
Thank you so much, my Father taught me this as a child and I wanted to incorporate it into his funeral but wasn’t confident enough to do so, but I am now. You’re a great teacher, thank you again. X
Not only is this channel a premier Irish language resource, but one which has kept the Catholic faith. The Polish have a saying, "To be a Pole is to be Catholic." The very same must be said of us - to be truly Irish is to be Catholic. Go mbeannaí Dia is Muire duit, Siobhán.
Siobhan, Thank you so much for the translation and helping me to say the Hail Mary in my native tong, I use to say it when I was very young but forgot how to say it when I moved to the US. Thank you again..
Love this! I’m Irish but live in Australia and recited the “our father” prayer last night but that’s the only one I know in Irish... I now know too 🙂 oh and your accent is the best 🙂 ☘️
Go raibh maith agait. I learned Irish Gealic in a school in Ballyfermot but forgot bits of it as its nearly 60 years ago so it was nice to re learn bits that i'd forgot about.
Thanks so much...my mother was from Mayo, and she taught me this as a young girl....i remembered most of it....great to see the words and the pronunciation.
My husband and I LOVE the channel. We've been working on a little Irish everyday. Your format here is perfect. Keep making videos. BTW How would you bless someone or say "Bless you" or "I send/give you blessings" Thanks!!
As someone who speaks french (& has looked into plenty of other languages) this makes a surprising amount of sense. Thank you from a Métis folk catholic!
Thank you so much siobhan, you really are an angel, also give me a wee while and I,I'll be able to leave the same message in Irish,God Bless siobhan 🇮🇪💪🇮🇪
Hiya my father is learning prayers in irish and enjoying your channel if possible to say the guardian angel prayer in Irish and also the infant Jesus. Thank you 😊
Im fluent in irish i went to an irish school primary and secondary and my daughters did to my eldest has just bden accepted for hr masyers in ucd she has done two irish subjects and german she is doing her masters in irish and german media and i was saying the lords prayer to my bf and totally got stuck at the very end lol so thank you go raibh mile maith agat go n'eiri an bothar leat.
Thank you so much for having the Hail Mary and our father I have a communion this year and finding it very hard to do the Irish prayers is there any possibility you could do more for eg prayer before communion and after , the glory be , na haspail, an cre , an ghloir it would be wonderful if parents were given the prayer s and be able to go on bite size irish to help thanking you lesley parent Gael scoil naas co kildare
Siobhan, this is mighty! I have been looking for a Connacht Irish version of the Rosary for quite a while. Although it may not fit a bitesize format, have ye ever considered saying the whole Rosary and other prayers in Connacht Irish? Bail o Dhia oraibhI
Is "Mhuire" the Irish version of the name "Mary" or is it specifically the name/word used to refer to the Mother of Jesus? Just curious. I'm really loving your videos! I'm really trying to learn, but I'm also learning German and it's really hard storing all those languages. Thank you so much for what you do!
I really need “I miss you “. And “Please call me. “. I love these videos. You are adorable. A video shot outside in a nice green field would be lovely.
It looks hopeless for me... :-) Thank you for this accurate work. And I'm glad to see this interesting language staying alive. Just to requite for your help now I present the Hungarian version: "Üdvözlégy Mária, malaszttal teljes, az Úr van teveled, áldott vagy te az asszonyok között, és áldott a te méhednek gyümölcse, Jézus. Asszonyunk, Szűz Mária, Istennek szent Anyja, imádkozzál érettünk, bűnösökért, most és halálunk óráján. Ámen" 😀
Thank you for your reply! Now I need to ponder what kind of greeting that might be... Isn't it strange to greet someone by saying "It's your life"? In Russian (my mother tongue) the Angel says "Rejoice, Mary". I guess "Rejoice" is a greeting translated literally from Greek. I understand that "Hail" is a wish of health, and "Rejoice" is a wish of joy... but "It's your life" is something new to me, quite mind-expanding. Wel, the more you live, the more you learn!
Hi! I recently decided to branch into my roots and learn old Irish gaelic because it is now a dying language, however it’s hard to tell the difference between regular Irish and Irish gaelic. Is this normal Irish or Irish Gaelic?
Could you please provide an Irish-Gaelic Translation for the Thrice Holy Hymn? Goes like this- English Translation-(Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us)-(3x's)- Glory to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, both now and forever and unto the ages of ages, Amen. Holy Immortal, have mercy on us-(Repeat 1st verse). Irish-Gaelic Translation-( A Dhia Naofa, Naofa agus Cumhachtaí, Naofa Neamhbhásmhar, déan trócaire orainn (3x). Glóir don Athair, don Mhac, agus don Spiorad Naomh, idir agus go deo agus go dtí na haoiseanna, Amen. Naofa Neamhbhásmhar, déan trócaire orainn. (le Neart). I want to be able to compose a Liturgical Text and Musical Score for the Newly Revived Celtic Orthodox Christian Church. They have their Liturgical Language Text in English, French, and Antiochian Greek, but however, they go by the New Julian Calendar which has Christmas Day on December 25th, instead of January 5th, 6th, or 7th. Also, do you know about the History of the Ecumenical Synod Council of Whitby, Northumbria, England? Which was held in the year 664 A.D.

A wonderful idea. Learn Hail Mary to begin with and incorporate into the rosary then learn and gradually incorporate the other prayers 🙏. Thankyou very much for this idea
your teaching methods and charisma are legendary. its as though you could be a great leader of Ireland some day.
I feel like I am praying with my great grandparents when I follow along with this video. Thank you for posting it! It is such a comfort.
Thank you so much, my Father taught me this as a child and I wanted to incorporate it into his funeral but wasn’t confident enough to do so, but I am now. You’re a great teacher, thank you again. X
You're a little legend thanks for doing this..hoping to pray the rosary as gealige soon

I wouldn't say that, but I think knowing about the role & influence of Catholicism & the Church is essential to understanding Irish history & culture.
Siobhan, Thank you so much for the translation and helping me to say the Hail Mary in my native tong, I use to say it when I was very young but forgot how to say it when I moved to the US. Thank you again..

My Gran, and my step Gran would be so happy I learned this. Miss them both, thank you
Go raibh maith agait. I learned Irish Gealic in a school in Ballyfermot but forgot bits of it as its nearly 60 years ago so it was nice to re learn bits that i'd forgot about.
It is another language in my rosary. Thank you. Let Mother of God bless you. 🌾

She said Mrá for Mna. So Siobhan is fro Connacht?????
This is very interesting. Just out of curiosity, how does a Gaelige-speaking Protestant say hello, if not "Dia is Muire dhuit"?
How do/did protestants say 'hello' in Spanish?
YES!
Maybe Altan could put music accompaniment to the Hail Mary. If completed, singing the Rosary would sound much nicer! ♥ The Our Father Also etc...
Siobhan, Go raith maith agut, An bhuil tu le amhrain- Cill-Aiden?
