Salamat po Mighty Magulang. It’s vital that children’s books are professionally done as you’ve pointed out. You’ve always been very truthful in all your videos, thank you so much. kudos to you po.
When Anvil was first publishing textbooks, their lady editor-in-chief visited our school to encourage reading. I was so impressed that for the first time in my life, I asked for her autograph. I am so happy that Anvil is still around after all these years and still sharing the joys of learning.
Yan ang tunay na aklat. Yong pinaguusapan ngayon na sinabi ng isang kaibigan ay hindi aklat yon, ang tawag don ay pamphlet para maagang matutong mamulitika ang bata.
There are unscrupulous people out there that will do anything (including writing children’s books that are haphazardly done) to further their self-interests. Filipino children deserve quality books - my mum would set aside P10 every week so I can have one “How and Why Wonder” books, meron pa Alemar’s noon 😊, a designated time in the library works as well. Salamat po Mighty Magulang!

Kayo po talagang mga Filipino children's book writers ang nasa isip ko nung lumabas ang issue nayan as I frequent bookstores all the time. At nasa isip ko talaga ay why not give back to our existing writing community, ang dami daming children's book na Pinoy made na pede i promote/supportahan at maganda ang quality, from storyline to the illustration. I personally think na this is a missed opportunity by the OVP or nagbulagbulagan nalang kasi may ibang agenda 🤭
Namumulitika ka, Ms. Mona. - Princess Fiona. Kidding aside, I have Dancing Waters and Sampung Pusa for my son. Thank you for the other book suggestions.
Reading comprehension is important too but math and science should be given priority. Whether we admit or not, kids today are weak in that department. This is the age of technology and if we want our country to be innovative and self-sufficient in the future then we need more scientist and tech engineers in the future. Germany is a great example. A small country that could out compete much bigger countries when it comes to technology. They are known for quality and precision in manufacturing. I would rather emulate that than some mediocre country like ***** 🙄😀
@@MightyMagulang yup, I know. That's why i said it's important too but some students tend to forget to supplement their knowledge of reading with the sciences. I don't know if it's fear of numbers or lack of competent teachers but one thing is for sure, our kids will have a hard time passing all those assessments test if we don't remedy this real soon. You know I met a grade 6 kid who can't even count to a hundred. Jeez, and I thought our generation was worse 😂
The bravado on this one reeks of arrogance. It's really disappointing that you have to put down others without understanding the circumstances which are the reasons are the way they are. As Mighty Magulang have already pointed out, reading is important for learners to be able to comprehend - or at least, start to comprehend - other fields of study. Secondly, Germany is a nation known for its engineering prowess mostly because of compounding - a process of building up from previous achievements; they simply built up on the legacy of scholars long before Germany became a country - for the Philippines to be able to do that, it also has to start where Germany started its industrial journey: making low quality products or products that only require low-skills professionals, which is already what's happening.
@@OrionTails it's not bravado if you're telling facts. I taught data communications and microprocessors after I graduated and I know for a fact that lot's of students flunk their math courses early on and it's not even calculus or physics. Just plain algebra or statistics is enough to earn them a 5 in their report card. Most of them don't even know basic math equations. How the heck do you expect us to work on that? Mighty Magulang is indeed correct that reading is a pre-cursor to learning but knowing how to read alone is not enough. You think, the guys who built and designed your gadgets is a damn literary genius? I bet not. They are most likely to be tech geeks. Geeks who live and breathe math. You may think I'm putting people down with my comments but in reality, I'm just giving them a wake-up call. You responded didn't you? Sorry, but I'm an old school guy and I don't like walking on eggshells when I talk or make a comment. Your feelings maybe hurt but that's nothing compared to what I had to endure seeing freshmen and sophomores cry because they can't pass their math subjects. I had to tutor them from the start. Imagine that, knowledge that should be learned in highschool and I'm giving them a crash course.

Reading is a pre-learning skill po. Learners cannot study other subjects unless they are literate.
