Ford Maverick - An Extra Engine's Torque to the Wheels?!? Are You Serious?!?

- This video explains how changing the final drive ratio (from the standard 3.63 to the 3.81 with the 4K Tow Package or the Tremor® Off-Road Package) adds approximately 235 lb-ft of maximum torque to the wheels.
If the maximum torque converter multiplication (around 2.5 times) and the powertrain losses (approximately 19.18% for the purposes of this example) are taken into account, the difference is as much as 472 lb-ft!
To place this in perspective, the 2.0L EcoBoost® engine produces 277 lb-ft at maximum torque.
I have included specific details about my truck below:
It's a 2024 Ford Maverick XL AWD 2.0L EcoBoost with the following packages and options:
Equipment Group 100A
Tonneau Pickup Box Cover Hard Tri-fold
4K Tow Package
Ford Co-Pilot360 Package
Bedliner - Spray-in
Color: Atlas Blue Metallic
I've never towed anything, but once I heard what the 4k tow package included, it became a must have for my Maverick purchase.
I clicked on this video by accident, thank you for running the math for the 3.63 vs 3.81. I just figured that it had to be slightly "torqueier" and quicker, like old muscle cars with a 4.10 rear end.
You're very welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Great example of the muscle car rear axle ratio. Thanks for your comment! 👍
Does this lower the mpg?
@@kenveum6456 I suspect at certain speeds it would lower the gas mileage, but at other speeds it may increase it because the transmission mapping and RPM may be able to change up to a higher gear at lower vehicle speeds. Thanks for your question! 🙂👍
@@c.a.r.s.carsandrelevantspecs I'm going to the ford dealer tomorrow and order a 25 xl with awd and 4k
@@kenveum6456 Awesome! I'm looking forward to learning more about the '25 Mavericks. Very nice! 👍
