Just found the channel so, gotta love that algorithm. My 2 cents. I'm new to this debate. I don't follow the A league that closely but I've seen him play a few times and I'm picking up bits and pieces of the drama. One thing I would point out that you said he was a commodity for Football Australia. Well that's not true. Until the point he has a full international cap he isn't. You want to talk hype? Karamoko Dembele. The world went mad for him. Celtic supported him and the family when migrating to Scotland. He represented Scotland at youth level until he blew up then swapped to an England shirt. Affectionately he loves Scotland for what it did for his family but professionally the chance to play for England is way more lucrative. Is a no brainer...unless you are Scottish. If you are Scottish you could never play for them but that's what he did. Now he's fallen off he plays for no one.
To get to the point. I don't know irankundis options at international level or what his representatives are planning with his career but if you are FA you can't go all in on an exciting kid for him to then choose another country. That embarrassment can end a blazer's career.
All this might mean nothing. He might develop as a player, kick on in Europe and rep Australia and everyones happy but who knows what gets said in meeting rooms and offices. It's definitely caught people's interest though.

Totally agree with you saying that we haven't fully capitalised on having him in the league for the past few seasons considering he is a homegrown talent who has scored goals and excited crowds in a way that the foreign imports, lets be honest, aren't capable of doing. For an 18-year old to complete the biggest transfer in Australian sports history (within Australian sport), it should really encourage A-League clubs other than Adelaide United to field more youth players instead of buying "recycled players" year-in-year-out.
However to blame Adelaide United for Nestor's situation is quite ridiculous. The club have patiently guided him through his teenage years and given him every opportunity to grow in to the player he has become by allowing him to make mistakes on the field and continue to give him the room to grow in maturity.
If you want to point the blame you might want to consider how referees continually fail to protect him. I've seen Nestor booked this season for simply celebrating! Or being frustrated with himself only. If we want more people to watch the A-League referees need to allow young exciting players like Nestor to express themselves on the pitch. Taking away their confidence simply makes the game less entertaining for the viewer.

Sorry could you clarify how he has been mistreated?
Also, how do you hype up and monetize a 18 year old talent while 'protecting' him? Seems a little hard to do when he's already a big fish in a small pond and a little conflicted
